It is plain to see that your method of tarp /tent tie-outs is based on much experience. Thumbs up.

I can tell you have set that tarp before....a lot! I've used a tarp and hammock almost exclusively for decades, love the openness yet your'e still protected. Some years ago I made a set of paracord lines of different lengths with a loop on one end and toggle on the other, saves some time and keeps things better organized. For the last year or so though I've started carrying bungee cords and use them whenever possible. It makes is SO easy to set up, no sagging anywhere, fantastic. Where I camp is dense forest so trees are always around to tie off to. Thanks for showing!

I have used both methods and I now only use the first method you showed. The reason is because when you use the adjustable grip hitch on the tarp loops, there is friction when you tighten it, like using a paracord saw to cut through your loops. That will reduce the lifespan of your tarp. Thank you for the video; I may not agree with your method, but I appreciate you sharing it.
@Taromovies6 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching and your feedback. Yes, friction could be an issue depending on the material used. But not every tent guy line has the same surface and not every attachment loop is the same. Many tarpaulins even have eyelets. However, I completely agree that this part needs attention and in some cases with other solutions like you mentioned. Thank you again for this constructive respons. Have a great weekend, Taro

For whatever reason that is the way I've always done it. I much prefer the Farimond hitch though for my tensioning. I doubt it's any better but it has never let me down so I'll never change that. Great explaination as to why it's better that way.
@Taromovies6 ай бұрын
Hi Mark, thanks for your response. Great to know that also others doing it this way. I'm fully with you about the Farimond Hitch, if you use to a knot so that you 're able to do it even with close eyes, than there is no reason to change. I'm doing it also so long that I do not remember the name of it. Wish you all the best, Taro

Hi Taro, great video! I've been using this exact same technique and knots. I switched a few years ago when I noticed that I was completly wet after a few seconds adjusting the lines near the pegs. Over time I even start with the tention knot super close to the tarp and finish with the pegs sothat I can stay dry unter my tarp and adjust each corner.

@Taromovies5 ай бұрын

The reason it is traditionally done tensioning from ground stake or fixed position vs. tarp or tent loop is so that the line does not saw through loop connection. This demo might appear cool and convenient... however, it is a poor strategy and not recommended. This practice puts wear and tear in rope to loop connections. If you still want to do it this guy's way... put a small piece of hardware through the tarp loop like carabiner, ring, high test fishing split ring and barrel swivel, etc. Eliminating the friction and sawing by rope running though just webbing loop.

Hi Taro, love your videos and instructions. However for this particular one, it is difficult to follow exactly how you tied the slipknot, as your right hand was blocking the knot itself. If the knot is not the key of this video and/or you already have a separate video teaching this knot, would be great to mention and post a link for beginners to follow through!
@Taromovies6 ай бұрын
Thanks for you very kind comment and your response about the slip knot. Please have a look at this video here, its far better to see how the knot works kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqG5noaZqpursNEsi=bgqcwzntMJnUtH3Z If it is still unclear, please get back to me and I'll make a special video about it, best wishes, Taro

Thank you for watching and your honest reply. KZbin is not a competition for me. Maybe for someone else....however. You can't always reinvent the wheel either. I try to convey new ways of thinking (like in the video before), but it is clear that many things are not new for people who are well versed in those areas. What content are you interested in in the area of bushcraft and survival? Kind regards, Taro
