To respond to Mike's point about the T-800 always managing to kill more advanced terminators, I explain it in my own mind by saying that the T-800 is like a Nokia phone or a 1993 Toyota Camry: crude, when compared to newer models, but somehow, more resilient and reliable.

terminator went wrong when it forgot its roots..its a HORROR sci-fi. ever since T2 (great film) they've assumed people want to see terminator as a series of action movies in ever expanding scale (both in a sense of space and of time) keep it tight, dark and scary.

That is kinda what Cameron did to the Alien franchise. While Aliens is a great movie, it didn't have any of the Alien atmosphere, and both franchises now seem to struggle to simulate it without him, although Ridley Scott is kinda doing whatever.

Man, I felt like a 10 year old again with this movie. My eyes literally came in tears in two scenes. I liked it a lot.Much better than Salvation and Terminator 3. Other recurring gag was the "mate" thing. Time travel stories always have it's inconsistencies. Think about it: any kind of interaction that you make that somehow reach your father or your mother, anything at all, can make a different spermatozoon reach your mother's ovum and BAM: you won't be born. A "recent" time travel movie that I liked a lot was Looper. It had it's inconsistencies but that time travel aspect per se was very well done. At last, there were a very interesting cameo in this movie that I think that very few people got it: Robert Patrick is in it!
@quizshow19777 жыл бұрын
James' mentioning of John Connor's conception and humor brought THIS to my mind. It would be funny if, somewhere around time traveling from 1984 to 2017, Sarah and Kyle mated and conceived a son. Possibly, in the new timeline, THEIR son sent the "Old Arnold" Terminator back to Sarah's childhood and erased his name from its memory.

killpunchofdoom It's a testament to how far Hollywood has fallen in the sense that people say it's one of the best and most original movies in a long time, and it IS, but it's also extremely flawed and has some jarring inconsistencies and a third act that pretty much renders the entire concept implausible. It's a really good movie compared to the other new movies that come out every year, but that's not saying much. We should have several movies like Interstellar every year and some that truly excel in storytelling as well as spectacle and creativity as opposed to a sea of crap movies and then one really worthy movie that's full of mistakes.

This is one of those times where I'm reminded that I prefer Rolfe's Monster Madness style reviews over these. Nothing against Mike, but he can't physically bring himself to let James even finish a sentence. He just won't stop butting into everything James has to say. It's quite irritating, especially when I'm really interested to hear what James has to say about something and what his thoughts are on a given thing. And again, I have nothing in the world against Mike, and I can certainly appreciate and empathize with his enthusiasm. I just wish he could temper and contain himself a little better in these reviews instead of constantly exploding into what James is trying to convey.

Ya know what Theaters need? Urinals built into the theater with little viewing windows. Seriously. How many times have you been in the last 20 minutes of a movie holding a piss? If you could walk backwards to a little room in the theater... step in.... be standing at a urinal, keep watching the movie while taking a piss... how great would that be?! ...I guess they'd have to use some kind of mirror system for girls, but damn... taking a pee break and not missing a part of the movie?! Come on!!!

I can't even remember any of Salvation. I could barely keep myself awake through it. I mean, 3 wasn't amazing, but I never thought I'd see a Terminator that made me feel completely bored. Then I think about A Good Day to Die Hard and Jaws 3 and realize I probably should have seen it coming.

I'm glad you pointed out how the film industry's rehashing all these old series. Yeah, a rising problem I've heard is that big studios and their investors are becoming more afraid of presenting new IPs and are just sticking to things they know. It's affecting the screenwriting industry too because no one can get their original ideas out and are stuck working on the umpteenth Marvel movie, Transformers whichever, etc. Some screenwriters are afraid that in the next decade, all these series will (like you said) tank and the industry will collapse onto itself.

May seem like the theaters aren't as busy as they used to be but it's just the multiplexes being huge.. Terminator is playing on 4 screens of 17 at a theater in my city, back in '91 I watched T2 at the same theater(kinda) but was only on one screen with maybe 4 showings that day.. and it was packed.

There seems to be some confusion about the time travel in the movie in this video. What most people aren't understanding about the movie is that the timeline in which it takes place is an alternate one. This timeline was altered due to the assassination attempt on Sarah Connor when she was 9, from this moment on the events of T1 and T2 never took place. However since the T1000 failed to kill Sarah when she was a child, killing only her parents, he loses his target and moves on to his next best target, Kyle Reese when he travels back to 1984. That is why he gets attacked by a T1000 in the beginning of the movie. Since T1 and T2 never took place there was no chip left in the factory to reverse engineer so skynet had to change its strategy by taking over the network through an a OS that connected all devices to each other, civilian and military. By traveling directly to the day of judgment day according to Kyle's predictions from his timeline, they skipped 33 years into the future. However during this time, John Connor traveled to this timeline to ensure the survival of skynet through Genysys and continue R&D. Genysis becomes self aware and starts understanding that humans are a threat to its existence. His awareness and power grow stronger and as soon as the system goes online he will control the entire planet. Kyle Reese and Sarah Connor blow up Genysys in the nick of time and save the world, for now. There is only one loose end... Who sent pops to protect Sarah Connor when she was a child? As well as the T1000? And more importantly what timeline did they come from? Understanding that the timeline goes as far back as the 70's is vital. All the other movies are just possible timelines and possible futures. But so far this is the only timeline where skynet is defeated and a terminator is left alive at the end of the movie.

DanielFlores5555 When James asked about the last time somebody was blown away by a summer action movie, I was shocked they didn't mention it. That shit was the best, easily the most competent and joyful action blockbuster of the last ten years.

It feels lame to me that there's a new Terminator movie, and I really don't care about going to see it. 1 and 2 are classics, and I know its a controversial opinion but I loved 3 too. But I just can't muster any excitement or desire to watch Genisys. Its cool that Arnold is back, but the trailers even made this movie look like a mess(not to mention they could have had something cool with a certain character, but they spoiled it in the trailer).
@jasonbrown45269 жыл бұрын
Dane Tucker The movie is okay, but the trailer was complete trash. It's a much better movie than Terminator 3
@KnightmareUSA9 жыл бұрын
Dane Tucker T3 is not controversial, it received far more positive reviews as an enjoyable no brainer action movie. T3 on Metacritic on average score holds 66%, and on RT its 70%, judged by both users and pro critics, and T4 is panned at 49% Meta, and RT 33%. T4 beats T3 as a videogame though.
