Among the wave of Sequel/reboots that Hollywood has developed a fetish for; we now have a trailer for the new Terminator movie. But...this has potential to be pretty good. Jeremy gives you his thoughts on the "Terminator Genisys" trailer!

I would be hyped...if there was any originality in anything but the timeline jump. This movie is BANKING on the success of T2 by straight up having the same villian and the same hero, despite the fact that none of it seems to have been done better than that of T2. Also, Sarah Connor's "Come with me if you want to live" line is cringe worthy

I'm right there with you. It just feels like it's going to be one long movie going "Hey, remember this from T1/T2? Yeah that was cool, right? Let's see it again...but with more CGI!" Also, I love Emilia Clarke, don't get me wrong. But she isn't anywhere near as physically threatening as Linda Hamilton in T2. I mean compare Hamilton (i.imgur.com/Z8XYcO1.jpg) to Emilia (i.imgur.com/KgRNU79.jpg). Hamilton looks like a ripped badass and Emilia looks like someone who should be playing her cute, spunky friend. And I know what someone is going to say: "But this takes place in T1!" Which, while correct, you gotta remember that she's been training since she was a child in this new timeline. So if anything she should be more buff and badass than she was in T2. I hate to say this, but Emilia was the wrong choice. If they wanted some Game of Thrones star power they should have gotten Lena Heady to take up the mantle of Sarah Connor again. She can actually pull off ripped soldier chick. Again, I love Emilia, but I don't think she's meant for roles like this. Also also, as an aside, what was up with the clothing? It looks like they're dressed in 2014 clothes but they're supposed to be in 1984, right?

Disagree on both fronts. I think the t1000 is a lot better as a villain than the one in T3... so why not use him? He still has a lot of creativity in how his weapons can work (AKA the javelin arm). And I thought that she said the line damn well. She sounded like she was on an adrinaline rush, she used the proper phrasing and everything. I don't see why it's cringeworthy. just because she's a woman?

50Calabyte Lena Headey actually DID play Sarah Connor before, in the Sarah Chronicles TV-series. And she did great! No idea why they didn't cast her again in that role (or maybe they didn't and she turned it down). Maybe because she's supposed to be younger than in the Chronicles series, something like that ...

Probably my biggest issue with the Terminator franchise as a whole. WE NEVER SEE THE END! I mean in T2 and T1 we are told of what "the end" is. That Skynet was going to lose the war and that this time travel bullshit was its last gambit to essentially save itself. That's why I had actually hoped they were going to keep going forward with the Salvation timeline so we could actually see the war end. Like have the big climatic showdown in Act 3 and in the midst of that Skynet sends the Terminators back in time. Then at about the half way point send Kyle Reese and from there finish the goddamn story. End the freaking war. Show the world post Skynet. This franchise has always been incomplete to me because of this. Sure it was T3 that ruined it but if you are going to make a sequel to a movie that supposedly saved the whole world don't just tell me the end game. Show it to me!

actually it's pretty simple to understand. The first movie: Skynet sends back a terminator to kill Sarah Connor. It fails to do so. So then when skynet is born again in that universe. It sends a terminator to kill John Connor. At which point the humans are tipped off to what Skynet is doing because of the botched attempt on Sarah Connor. So they send back another to help John Connor, due to at the time, his mother was in a mental ward. Fast forward 20 years in that universe. You have a Skynet from another Universe send another terminator to kill Johns lieutenant and captains as well as his wife. The humans in that universe uncover this and send back another terminator of their own to prevent that from happening. Judgement Day occurs.

I'm so tired of them coming to the present (or I guess 80s/90s). I want to see the Skynet war of the future and how it unfolds. Say what you will about Terminator Salvation but it was finally the version I wanted to see after Terminator 2. Obviously they will never stop Judgment Day and they'll never kill Sarah or John Connor, so let's just look at how Skynet is defeated now.

Don't think the t800's were designed with long lifespan in mind, at least the flesh on top. As far as I remember, they covered cyborgs with flesh to infiltrate human positions, and take them out from within. I think there was a little scene about that in t1. Without bone marrow producing red blood cells to absorb oxygen and feed body with energy, flesh would rot and fall apart pretty soon. T800 is basically human flesh on top of a metal skeleton, didn't seem to have any internal organ imitation to support flesh to live for so long, age, and get fat in the process (as t800's body wouldn't produce fat). So its a veeeery far stretched concept if they go for it.

***** Hmm, I don't remember anyone saying anything about nano-tech for t1000, probably because movie was filmed before the term became wide-spread. Skynet would have no need to design such complicated maintenance system for the standard issue t800 in my opinion, infiltrations seemed to be quick, get in, kill everything, get out or die. They never showed t800's actually living among people, so the flesh was just a camouflage to get close to humans. Actually, wasn't there a thing in the first movie that t800 actually started to smell like a corpse later on? If thats the case, then they don't have any tissue regeneration, and exposed flesh simply rots. Anyway, nit picking, but why not)

I don't recall his flesh actually rotting in T1, it just smelled bad, like it was infected or something. My guess is that they have some mechanical "organs" that are responsible for maintaining their biological disguise. There's multiple ways they could explain it.

The problem I have is that this new film has so little original in it. It is essentially a "best of" from all the other Terminator films, including Salvation because THAT film gave us young CGI Arnold at the very least. Of course getting the best of everything that has come before isn't bad in and of itself. It's just uncreative. But I am still hoping that it will be good.

Terminator 3 is the proper sequel to T2, Is it on par with T2? NO! but T3 already establish the future war that was fucked up by Terminator Salvation. At the start of this trailer, it captures the essence of the future war that was on T1,T2.T3... and I was like hell fucking yeah! were back baby! then it shows Kyle Reese in the shopping mall and 80's Arnold. The nostalgia is strong with me. Then it shows sarah connor, t100 and old arnold now the problem with that is... sigh it reboots, restart, everything leading to the future war. I hope its not terminators fighting, surviving till judgement day comes story all over again. Because I'm judging too much, I hope it goes back and forth from the past, future, past like the x-men days of future past did. This is a must watch!

He really wants some chocolate, bad, so he goes back in time under the pretense of helping to save Sarah Connor. I am going to get tons of hate about what I am about to say but it has to be said. The trailer looks like a lame rehash of the first two Terminator movies which were classics. I just wish people would give this series a rest already. It is over. Arnold is a has been. I said it. This movie is being made just to keep him relevant. Let's be honest, he is trying to relive his glory days which he did in Expendables but that is over. And so should the Terminator series. The first two made some sense, the ones after all were jokes. I have little faith in this. Doesn't seem to be any advancing of the storyline, just finding a way to create more dumb action scenes. The sarah connor chronicles were moving towards a more interesting sci fi narrative, but that ended prematurely. The "Terminator: 2029 AD - Christopher Shields" website fleshes out the terminator world in a way none of the recent movies has, and speculates on and creates a more plausible narrative and explanation of skynet, and its creations. Something alluded to on the website, that the t1000 might have been able to consciously break free from its masters just as skynet had done was hinted at in the sarah connor chronicles show, which is more interesting than saving john conner yet again...

Wait, please, someone help me to understand this time traveling thing in the terminator franchise b/c I'm desperately confused. So, T1 and T2 happened. Michael Biehn Kyle Reese should be dead right. T800 from T1 and T2 should be terminated, and the Robert Patrick T1000 should also be terminated. The Edward Furlong John Connor becomes the Nick Stahl John Connor who becomes the Christian Bale John Connor who becomes the now Jason Clarke John Connor? If that's true, so now in Genisys, like in T1, Skynet sends back a T-800 to kill Sarah Connor but as a kid? So who sent the T-800 (that becomes old) to protect young Sarah Connor since we see Jason Clarke John Connor send back Jai Courtney Kyle Reese to protect Sarah Connor from the terminator? He suggested it in the review: After sending Jai Courtney Kyle back in time to save his mother from a T1000 (which was originally the one from T2), he finds out they sent another terminator back further to kill a young Sarah Connor as a back up plan (but this time it's the T1 T800) and sends the T800 from T2 (which would have been sent to save Edward Furlong John Connor in T2) to save her instead, destroying T1 T800. This results in T2 T800 training her to be the bad ass that saves Jai Courtney Kyle. Similar to Star Trek, what I think happened is that the changes to the time line caused by the original time jumps cause Skynet to send the original T1 T800 and the T2 T1000 to earlier time periods which is why the T1000 doesn't look like Robert Patrick.

Alternate Universe I think. But the variable in this universe is that this time another terminator was sent back to kill Sarah Connor as a kid. I think that's what happens.

I think a good assumption to make is that Terminator 3 and Salvation didn't happen. This is a direct sequel/reboot of the first two.

I agree, I'm tired of all the reboots... But I don't think this is technically a "reboot". It's more like a "redirection". It's like being at a crossroad, going left, then turning around so you can go right instead and pretend you never went left in the first place. That's at least what I've read so far since researching the movie.

This is how commentary on KZbin works for trailers. Step 1: Trailer breaks. Mass reaction. Step 2: One or Two guys in the comment sections like it or hate it, and others follow. Step 3: A few KZbinrs say they either like it or hate it. If they hate it... Step 4: Every second or third comment is about how shit the movie is. The 'liked comments' are beat down. Step 5: There is no step 5, just wait for the movie and then make your judgements...

I think i just realized how good Jeremy really is at impressions. He pretty much nailed that Arnold voice at the beginning. I mean I know it obviously exaggerated, but that's the whole point of the voice. His Batman voice is on point, and when he did the Star wars trailer review, his TIE Fighter sound was like straight out of the movie.
