Actually, sums up at least 70% of ALL the live action films. There’s a reason I just stick with the 1986 film if I want to watch 90 minutes of Transformers. That film is 1.5 hours, but only feels like 45-60 minutes. The live action films… feel TWICE as long as they actually are.

Adam Ortiz Regardless of Fury Road's plot- or lack thereof, in this case- that wouldn't necessarily affect George Miller's potential involvement in a Transformers reboot, which certainly DOES deserve a more involved plot and interesting characters, just as its rich source material provides oodles of. Say what you will about Happy Feet being a kids' movie, but critically speaking, it was indeed a very creative and thought-provoking plot, so Miller is more than capable of delivering that to the big screen.

Anthony Puglisi Producers have a LOT of power. They are the money-men, and what they say goes. Tobe Hooper "directed" Poltergeist, but Spielberg pretty much told him every single thing to do. Listen up people because I am only going to explain this once. There is a difference between Liking a movie, and a movie being good. You can like Trans4mers, but you cannot say it was a good movie. The average people views a movie subjectively but your personal perception of a movie does not matter because there is objective rules of filmmaking. Michael Bay tends to ignore the because Traditional film making doesnt make big bucks, because of the advent of blockbusters. When people like Jeremy get upset about movies like this, its because you can EASILY have a fun entertaining movie that ACTUALLY has good writing, a great story, purposeful action, and emotional characters. Movies do not need to be 1 dimensional. This is why i REFUSE to pay for garbage like this, because I know its possible to have a movie that has good film structure, and is fun for to watch. A good example of a fun movie that had a solid story would be Captain America 2, Or Godzilla

You know i really liked this movie, and that surprises me. After seeing this movie i went in to watch this expecting to get bored and probably end up walking out. But i actually enjoyed this installment. I thought Mark Walhberg and that KSI head guy did really good jobs and the action scenes were some of the best from the series. Could it have been shorter? Yes, Were some of the plot lines unnecessary? Yes, but overall i came out positive. Really prefer the Shia Labeouf-Megan fox duo from the first 2. Hopefully they make a comeback.

Rainbow Dash cameo was the only good thing in this movie. A cameo for 1 second. It was a complete rehash of the previous movies, the FBI were some of the most incompetent out there (they got owned by a fucking mechanic), serious plot holes involving Sam (I don't like him but honestly at least tell us what happened to him), they screwed with Optimus Prime, Grimlock only appeared for 5 minutes and the new human characters were obnoxious (with the exception of Mark Warlberg). 3/10 (Attack on Hype is better than this).

What I continuously fail to understand is why the (*bleep*) Bay consistently ignores the formulae that made Transformers so endearing and iconic for the last 30 something years, e.g. the original Transformers and keeping the focus on said Transformers. It's like he keeps trying to convince himself that people will care more for the Human characters than the Autobots and Decepticons and, well, no! The humans have always been a supporting element when they've been an element at all. I've said it before but, even though it's unlikely, I hope this movie tanks. I really, really, really do. I want Bay and, more importantly, the studio to see that you can't keep shitting on a beloved intellectual property by letting some egotistical pretentious and tasteless explosion boner having director jizz his wet dreams all over it just because mindless drones threw money at the first few films. Yeah you might make some cash but, in the end, you'll kill interest in said IP where films are concerned. It sets a horrible trend for other classic properties yet to come to screen or be done well. Growing up in the 80s I've watched them destroy almost every classic series. It's just...disappointing.

I just felt like a kid who gets amused easily when I watched those movies but is this one really that bad? I liked Age of Extinction. No Shia Labeouf was a highlight. Optimus Prime filled his leadership role that has been lacking the past 3 films. The humans actually involved themselves with what the transformers were doing, they actually helped, or at least Mark Wahlberg helped. They finally made Optimus the main transformer and not bumblebee. The third act battle was great! It actually had a good amount of screen time of transformers fighting. Optimus in his G1 form at the beginning was a nice shout out for the true transformers fans (fans of the cartoon not the films). I like the set up for the next one. The Michael Bay pointless comedy and scenes were shit though. I didn't notice the change in CGI. We still havent gotten the perfect transformers film and I think Age of Extinction got as close as we might get to a good transformers film, it had much more screen time for the Transformers than the previous films and I liked that. Overall for entertainment I'd buy it on blu-ray.

Here's what I want them to do. Have a transformers movie with NO HUMANS WHATSOEVER! Have it take place on Cybertron, you know, where they COME FROM. I know it'd be a better movie because there would be no useless, expendable, and annoying human characters. Just the robots we come to see. Nobody watches these movies for the humans. And this idea that we need human characters to relate to is illogical. Take Lion King for example: NO HUMANS WHATSOEVER. Guess what? It's one of the most loved and remembered films EVER! Why? Because nothing was wasted or thrown in. It all mattered. Don't have characters just to have them. We don't need a character to be human to care about them. The toys in Toy Story 3 were TOYS and yet I felt the fear and sadness as the came close to be incinerated. Why? Proper development and usage of character. They should try it. I know it'd be better.

Walberg had at "Come ooooon. COME OOOOOONNNN." talk with Optimus Prime about leaving the humans to themselves, and it worked. NO LOGIC! The human gets a weapon that kills the enemies with one to 3 shots, but a transformer attacking them with a BFG or giant sword takes 8 hits each. They had a weapon a human could use and was human sized AND had infinite ammo where the transformers had limited ammo, AND the human could lift that large chunk of metal. When they drove as cars during the chase, you should have been "flooring it," not slowly accelerating due to human traffic laws. Optimus Prime is the most HUMAN character in the movie, all humans are incredibly selfish without justification, the villains are selfish (technically) insane Hippocrates, and all of the other transformers are barbarians completely void of technical thinking and actual high tech weaponry(humans in this movie have better tech than the transformers, except Lockdown the bounty hunter). The original story is that Cybertron, their home planet was beyond repair and went to earth cause they had no choice, now Optimus and the Autobots were born on Earth or created to be a servant, though he and other Primes fought as leaders against the deceptacons on Cybertron. Optimus is the most easiest to convince character in the movie. Who knew an ancient race of beings billions of years old had grenades that looked like giant human made grenades? WTF acheologist GTFO NOW(REALLY FUCKING POINTLESS CHARACTER FILLER)! The ancient "knights" Lockdown travelled across the universe to capture can turn into ancient Earth animal dinosaurs they definitely didn't learn about while being across the universe. The new human made transformers were made out of a "COMMON NON-RADIOACTIVE EARTH METAL" (meaning found everywhere and even listed in our elements" yet all they have is about a 150 tons of it and need a seed to make more of a "COMMON" metal. Why did Cybertronians kill the dinosaurs? This conflicts with the 2nd movie. All continuity of the movies are bad. How did the archeologist get in that car being the 5th character in it when there were only 4 characters protecting the seed, and no, she didn't drive the car there, they found it crashed in a building. The boyfriend and father don't have a good nor growing relationship throughout the movie, which is necessary if they are going to add the BS love story element in there anyway. He's a professional driver, but when he does drive, it's escaping the cops which he eventually totals on his own from a ramp jump he mad and did a LOT, escaping a ships magnetic force, which he failed again, and having his gf hook it up to a sword impailing Optimus at the end and all a child would need to know is how to push the petal. He was also unnecessary, even through his "profession." Let me make this clear. I could go on for another "wall of text" above for everything else and then some. Break the glass honey, break the glass! "taps it with her palm" (are you fucking serious?) When she land in the ship and the door opens, she sees little robots, and immediately (no joke) grabs a "metal pipe" in like .5 seconds and beats one of them to death(R U FKING SRS?) I could accept Bumblebee being emotional, but not all of the experienced Autobots. Transformers running out of ammo and using cotton parachutes? Again with the rolls cause a slow motion catching the humans in the air with fractions of seconds is easy but a matrix missle launching or gun blazing scene is too hard, something they would actually do. Transformers weapons: Seeing how they are the precursor to all human technology in the story. Why not plasma guns we can't figure out how they work. Guns that shoot condensed air pressure (technically infinite ammo short range shotgun). They are the weapon, why give them grenades and guns that's not from themselves? Why nothing that was good from the cartoons like energon, minicons giving them unknown upgrades, allowing them to integrate whatever technology they want, reading data from all sources like in the first movie without even having to be there doing it wirelessly rather than the human using their tech, where are the technologies that created the space bridge from the 3rd movie which is an actual tranformers concept. The closest thing to a real weapon that seemed legit was Optimus' axe which got hot to a burning thing, cause humans can't do that. Why not a solar defractor(or something) which channels sun light into a laser that they could bend to cut away their enemies? Why could only a dinosaur bite and sword cut through the enemies who can turn down to their molecules and reform in whatever way possible? Why not a spy like the watch in the third movie which connected him to the spinal cord and could kill him at any time? Why the fuck not any of these things? I'm really sorry for ranting, but why not any of these weapons? Why make the transformers more primitive than the humans? They made them more primitive than the humans. Optimus was the only character besides the evil turned good inventor who rescued the seed in the movie. Those two were the only good things I liked. What inventor who works on machines doesn't know of an EMP by now? That's right! Humans could actually make weapons against them, but he gets this infinite ammo sword-gun which should weigh a ton and one hand runs with it the rest of the movie. Why robot dogs if they are already their own race? I don't mean to hate, but of what they did was shit, they could have made it a manageable shit. Made the characters good at what they did, but most was just failed gimmicks, driver can't drive, girl sweating and crying had no running or flawed makeup, the main character rising to the challenge just because, the relationship between the man and boyfriend should turn into vague trust or slight friendship, it takes more effort to kill molecule transforming tranformers, infinite ammo for tranformers, no human sized weapon meant for giants, human uses human weapons in creative and effective way(grenade inside the enemies chestplate), bad people not being hypocrites as much as just being soldiers following orders(cause that's the only exception), Tranformers are the guns the blades and the parachutes, nothing new intergrated unless they show they could do it, enough race jokes unless that character does one for everyone at some time, being the fuckup, transformers not being entirely barbarians, no new characters unless introduced from like a dormant mission or tracking... something concrete to them being there if they are going to stay, and some logic to the story. FUCK THE ARCHAEOLOGIST! She did nothing to help thoughout. My ultimate summary is like the scene when the inventor and his assistant were in the elevator, and once the CIA guys hit her once, the entire movie could be seen to me as, that random guy in that elevator beating the shit out of both of them and just walking back inside. That was the level of buildup and interest of the characters, setting, and story of the movie. And show new stunts, enough roles. Even another scene like the second movie where they transform from cars into beasts or whatever while on the highway and then transform back, even being able to talk in their vehicle forms or shotting missles in that form would be very fresh and new-ish. It could have been good though. It could have been good. P.P.S. The inventor was smart enough to build robots, he's smart enough fix Optimus Prime, he's smart enough to hack a CIA drone and predict the police, he's smart enough to know how to fight and beat a CIA operative, but he's not smart enough to know that being from Texas, is the same as being from Arlen, a city in Texas... P.P.P.S. He gets attack by Lockdown who is using a giant sword. Somehow, Wahlberg can lift a giant metal gun that should weight about a ton, above him and actually be able to block a few tons of force, when he should be dodging instead of "blocking tons of force."

So I went to the opening showing of this movie last night at 11.30 in imax 3d. And have to be honest, I really liked it. It looked amazing. I didn't hate the characters. It wasn't nearly as cheesy as the others. I only have two problems with the movie as a whole. 1- the final action scene went on for about 15 minutes too long. I was actually getting bored during island that shouldn't happen during an action scene. 2- there really wasn't any need for the dinobots at all. I feel they were only in the movie so they could out them in the trailers. Apart from they 2 complaints I give it a thumbs up. 7/10

It has bad direction and most of the movies are explosions. Seriously count the explosions. Bay could be a good director under the right circumstances, the movies could have been decent but Bay shouldn't have done the transformers movies. Um yeah I normally agree 99.9% with Jeremy with his opinions and ratings but this one is a mistake. In no way is this movie "Dogshit", this one is better than DOTM and you gave that one a positive score. Seriously it was very enjoyable and not because I've been a fan since '84, it was a decent summer action blockbuster. You go into the movie expecting a lot of action and it delivered. Yeah some things didn't make sense or the plot was absurd at times but you have to go into this movie with your brain somewhat shut off and just enjoy the ride. And plus, even without Bay, why would you want to minimize the explosions anyway.... it's robots vs robots.
