Completely the opposite that the media portrays about him. Anyway, I asked him about his relationship with Mariucci during his time in San Francisco. He flat out said that Mariucci was running the team like an old school college coach. He didn't know how to manage the egos of the team, and everything fell apart. Now, Owens admit that he should have handled certain situations more mature. But, as Jerry Rice said, if cross him, he will never forget. This helps understand his time in Philadelphia, Dallas, Buffalo, and Cincinnati. He needed a strong father figure to keep him in check, and it seemed no one wanted to take that role.

He obviously inherited a lot of talent, but also got a really good resume out of it. Two championships, a further three conference championship game teams, and even with the really bad three year stint in Carolina, his win percentage is .648; about the same as Bill Belichick right now, and bested by only four coaches who coached as many games as he did. He also was their defensive coordinator for a couple championship teams beforehand, and counting those years, he was on their coaching staff for all but two of their 16 straight seasons of 10+ wins. This was after T.O purposefully told San Francisco he would not play for the Baltimore Ravens if they traded him, at a time when Baltimore could've used the future hall of famer (Baltimore struggled offensively that year yet still went 9-7 iirc) and his play was arguably the difference in the game. Ray wasn't a fan of that, “If you’re going to play a football game, don’t be a coward and wait until you make one play and do something,” Lewis said. “Just play football. His celebration doesn’t mean anything. What’s flattering is that he has me on his mind when he’s at home.” Apparently, dissing Ray wasn't an issue only with many of the Ravens players. Hines Ward of the Steelers took offense to the disrespect T.O showed Ray and the very next week the Steelers beat up on the Eagles at Heinz, while Hines took delight in twice mocking T.O's "Eagle Flap." I don't know of any specific beef following that off the top of my head honestly. Mariucci always was a loser. That's usually a common thread with coaches who want to play the game "right".
@seanswinton62425 ай бұрын
True. Mariucci is now retired and often forgotten, while Terrell Owens is in the Hall Of Fame.

TO is great but let his antics overshadow his game and that should NEVER happen as a player in sports. Such a force and people only remember a couple celebrations, him working out in his driveway like a tool, and beefing with mcnab for pretty much no reason. Shame

I was at that bears game. That the 49ers lost after leading most of the game. They where up by 24 in the 4th i think and the bears came back to win. Incredible game

Old 49er fan here. This video brings a lot of mixed feelings, memories. Coach Mariucci did inherit a roster with some great stars. But it was an aged roster and the wheels fell apart. Terrel Owens early on showed promise. He'd of course follow through and become a true star. There is no doubt Owens was an amazing WR. One of the best ever in that position. He stayed pretty healthy, he balled great for several teams. He was a competitor. But man was he a headache for every team he was on. Even throwing his own QBs under the bus.

Why does it feel like the only series y’all still do is beef history and rewinds?
@mrcnub8 ай бұрын
Those two and Prism are literally the only things this channel has released in over three months. I really wish they'd bring back Untitled and Collapse, there were still plenty of good subjects for those.
@Gungho733 ай бұрын
@@mrcnub Collapse is what I come back to the channel for over and over. Beef history honestly blurs after awhile because it becomes which NBA player pissed in which NBA player/coach/executives coffee and then had the gall to be more upset then when the other complained about it.

Ending with saying that “this was just who TO is” without mentioning that mooch doesn’t coach anymore only because he had locker room issues no matter where he coached is kinda weird

Owens was never wrong about Much. Much was one of the most embarrassing examples of a NFL head coach that never gets criticized about how bad of coach he is.
@gatienlaurol57938 ай бұрын
I love TO but to me, he was just like any receiver in that he’s happiest when he’s the reason why the teams wins and annoyed when he’s not the focal point of the offense. That’s just how a lot of receivers are wired, for better or worse.

Never understood why they hired Marriucci in the first place, he coached one year at Cal and went 6-6, at no point ever under his coaching did I think they were going to win a. Title with him… as for TO, the greatest toxic teammate ever, you need your QB thrown under bus, TO is your man…
