The film quality is shyte and yet somehow kinda funky. Terry's talent was and is prodigious. He was a cut above the rest but didn't get the wide recognition that he certainly deserved.😢

He should be so much more recognized… but at least the one good thing the movie The Devils Rejects did was promote him in our modern era and have a whole new generation discover him.

Terry was the lead-off act at my first major concert. After him B. B. King performed. And the the featured act - the Rolling Stones. The year was 1969. The place - Boston Garden.

I too was at the Stones Concert in 1969 at Boston Garden. Only I had to go to the 5pm show and B.B. King did not show. His band did. He was arrived late at The airport and got stuck in traffic. I n that getting from Logan to Boston Garden throubh the Summer and Callahan tunnels was brutal. Terry Reid opened up and everyone wanted to know who this guy was. By the end of his set we all knew who Terry was. Great.

Terry Reid played a free concert at Tartar Stadium, downtown Detroit U of D campus, then did this show for "Detroit Tube Works', which was simul-cast on Ch. 56 and WABX-FM. The live show was kick ass!

If the concert was at "Tartar Stadium," the campus would be Wayne State University's. University of Detroit's team is the Titans. (The school is now known as University of Detroit Mercy.)

@@crownprinceofgroovy: Agree. Tartar is WSU. I seen all of the free concerts at Tartar 'Field'. There were only 5 i believe, from '69 ~ 1970. WABX FM threw all of them. They were switched from the Belle Isle free concerts because of Police problems. On campus, it was easier and less of a hassle because of the college. I saw Terry Reid at the Eastown on Friday & Saturday in December of 1969. Catfish, Head over Heals & Zephyr. Zephyr had a very young guitarist named...Tommy Bolin. That was a Great night, but the ole' Eastown had Many Great evenings!!!

@Reinisen Lee Miles - he was in Ike and Tina Turner's band back in the 60s... In 1966 The Ikettes went to support The Stones on the tour, and so did Terry. I believe that's how they met. Might have been also the 1st time Terry's and Jimmy Page's paths crossed, because another support band was The Yardbirds. Lee also convinced Terry to move to the States.

I'm pretty sure Terry was in the process of signing a deal and that was a big part of the reason he didn't get involved. I may well be wrong though. I booked Terry for some shows in Scotland when he came over for Glasto a few years back. I'm 27 now (must have been 22/23 at the time) and just hearing him talk about his life was awe inspiring. A charming, hugely talented gent. I recommend folks check out another former member of Peter Jay and the Jay Walkers, Pete Miller, aka Big Boy Pete.

This man is one of my all time favorite artists who is probably very under-rated when compared to Robert Plant etc. but Led Zeppelin would be left far behind against this individual's absolute charisma and voice that wrenched hearts better than ANYONE in some cases

OMG that's so funny! - when I first heard Steady As She Goes I laughed out loud and posted a comment there: "LOL Superlungs!" because I could clearly hear the same drum beat there... indeed, Jack White's not-so-subtle inspiration was Mr.Superlungs... more obvious after he did a cover of Rich Kid Blues.

@gloomandglow: reckon Terry's guitar is a Gibson ES-225.
@salgoudsamoht
@salgoudsamoht 13 жыл бұрын
@gloomandglow a hollow-body electric. it looks kind of like a gibson custom ES-175 or ES-137. The front pickup on the guitar here looks like a coil instead of a humbucker, though. it has a florentine cutaway and a rear-mounted tailpiece. it looks like a thinline, but i don't think it's an archtop. it's not a gretsch guitar. the florentine cutaway and the rear-mounted tailpiece with f hole body don't appear on their models. you could check the websites of those two companies and wikipedia.

Dude, it's not rumors. He said that himself: "Mickie Most had me in a contract and wouldn't let me make a record with anyone else. He crossed the line. But the reason was simply that I was booked 48 weeks in America with the Stones" that's 2 contracts, touring with the Stones and recording with MM. Google "Is Terry Reid the unluckiest man in rock?" and see for yourself. Believe what you like, no offense, but I think Terry knows his motives better than anyone else.

His Gibson guitar is really old, like 1950's - those trapeze tail pieces are early 50's. The pickups are P90's - single pole pups. According to Wiki Jimmy Page wanted Terry to front Led Zeppelin... but he had other commitments. Terrible sound quality but a cool vid anyway

Well, he did turn down Led 'Zep' cos of the fact they wern't famous or anythin and the creator was high on drugs wen he asked Terry, even if he wanted to accept the offer he couldn't of bcos he was tied to a contract with another company, the onli reason Terrys not as famous as he could of been is because him and his manager didn't get along at all, i know all that cos my dad told me they're related and i'm related to Terry myself :3

I was doing some random surfing research and discovered this as well... Personally I think Terry Reid would have been even better than Robert Plant, who can occasionally be out of tune, not to mention, an ASS for not accepting to go on a led zeppelin reunion tour. He also seems like a much cooler guy than Plant.
