Excellent progress, thanks for sharing. At 1:55 I am baffled as to why you bought a hydraulic lift, then removed it and used ordinary furniture dollys instead?
@BenjaminNelsonX6 ай бұрын
The hydraulic table supports the middle of the battery. It prevents the battery from tilting while lowering it. It also takes the weight off the jacks on the ends, when readjusting them such as to add or remove wood blocks since the car is up so high. The hydraulic cart also only has steering wheels on one end. The furniture dollies have all wheels that swivel, making it much easier to rotate the battery to get it out from under the car.

Cool time lapse. In reality, how long did it actually take to remove the battery?
@BenjaminNelsonX6 ай бұрын
Probably half an hour. There’s a lot of bolts to come out. That goes pretty quickly, but it’s a lot of crawling around under the car. For actually LOWERING the battery, it was a matter of doing it slowly and surely. Having multiple jacks and a second person makes it much easier. It’s also important to keep the battery level. Lastly, the first movement of the battery should be to drop it a couple of inches relatively quickly. This disconnects the coolant lines and lets the built-in shut off valve activate to help keep coolant from leaking everywhere.

Can you please share some details on the dimensions of the cribbing you built for the tires.
@BenjaminNelsonX4 ай бұрын
Yes. There's certainly a few different ways a person could do it, but I made mine 12" wide by 20" long. Those two measurements equal 32", and that's one third of 96" or 8 feet. I used common 8' long 2x4 lumber and cut exactly three 10" and three 20" pieces out of each.

When you hear "changed out the battery pack" it sounds a lot less involved than this!

How do you plan to reattach the part you cut off?
@BenjaminNelsonX6 ай бұрын
It was just a very small stripped bolt. That will be replaced.
