Hei Nassir, when we use 1000v gloves we use another pair of work gloves on top of them to not damage them on sharp edges. From a norwegian electrician

Nassir is the man! I always enjoy seeing his knowledgeable and professional approach to auto repair. EV Hub appears to be just what EV drivers need when their cars get older and out of warranty. Tesla’s approach to completely replace battery packs is good to have available, but it is also necessary to have third party service options for less expensive repairs. Kudos to Nassir for providing this option to EV drivers in Norway.

Very Intresting to see that there is a upcoming business with talented guys like Nasir, where repair batteries before replacing. A new (repaired) battery in a EV is almost like having a new car. Also overhauling an electric motor is possible and cheaper than replacing. I wish Nasirs garage successful years and expansion, maybe he will open a garage here in Germany ;)

I read somewhere that if the modules of EV battery can not be fixed then good ones can be taken out and re-purposed to store energy few more years (until they last) packed in different sizes to a green-house, garage or to store energy in modules from a solar roof panels or solar power trailer or to power different other electric tools & consumers and even by the end of the cycles the modules can still be send to be properly recycled dismantle in specialized centers that collect electric components sort all components out the metals goes separately from chemical stuff to the smelter and rest stuff to be recycled & re-used.. (or at least this is the basic notions of how it should be)..
@bertsteenbergen67292 жыл бұрын
@@poplaurentiu4148 That will definitely work. If I understood it correctly, in this case one cell (or group of cells) is defective causing the pack to not properly function anymore, I hope to see in part 2 that they replace this cell 9or group of cells) and then have basically revitalised the battery-pack, where otherwise a complete new battery-pack would have been used. I think that is good news, maybe we even get battery-rejuvenation by refreshing the batteries by properly balance all functional cells and then have again a very good and balanced battery-pack...that's why I am so enthusiastic about this...hope that my enthusiasm is still there after video #2

In the UK we have HEVRA which provides training and information on electric vehicle repair for garages. Dealer repairs are so expensive that it creates a market for component level repair. On iMiev/ion/c-zero a chip in the BMS can fail. Part costs £0.20p. Dealer can only replace the battery circa £10'000. HEVRA garage can replace the chip. Cost a few hours labour.

This will be a very interesting series. Thumbs up. Fingers crossed that the 1.9v is a faulty bms reading which should be an easier fix than if this is a single partly shorted cell that is draining the cell group. Which are the absolute max values for cut off voltage on these (Panasonic) cells.? Normally a cut off of 2.5v is advertised I think, but which is the brick voltages where it is unsafe to recharge ever? Reminds me that I should get a diagnostics cable to read out my aging MS before it is too late. Thanks for the interesting series. Looking forward to some detailed dismantling and reassembly. Was module 9 the one in the bulge of the pack, so it may be easier to get to?

On and off, people claim there is cheaper battery solution…. but a bit like iphone, eventually there isn’t cheap battery replacement…even it does…the cost would be similar. To a point, if you spend half the standard cost to try, you’ll lost that amount plus handling cost to pull that battery out.
@essentials10162 жыл бұрын
Most likely wont last long. Many people have tried the same thing it worked fine for up to a year and then eventually broke again.

worst case one swaps the failed module ? ok it may be less optimized but way cheaper than 15k for a Tesla replacement which may neither be new. Its also fodder for the never ending claims in pubs and bars (Stammtischparolen) that one needs to discard the complete car as soon as the battery is down.

8 years… why this is not covered by Tesla Warranty?
@bjornnyland2 жыл бұрын

@Smith_Tech_702 жыл бұрын
8 years? We keep being told that lithium batteries will last in excess of 10 to 15 years, or more. I’ve ordered a BMW i4, and the battery is warranted for 8 years, so I would expect it to last way longer than that.
@Smith_Tech_702 жыл бұрын
@@Maxzor11 yes, suppose so. Just doesn’t seem very long. Shame it went out of warranty. But as for the engine analogy, most of them will run for their intended design life, say 250k km. and as the batteries are designed to last for 10 to 15 years or more, then 8 years is very poor. Probably bad charging habits, or excessive mileage.
@w0ttheh3ll2 жыл бұрын
@@Smith_Tech_70 It's not the whole battery gone bad in this case, just a small part of it that's showing an anomaly. Apart from a bad cell this could be many other things like corrosion, broken wire, failed electronic component.

I've driven my 2021 Model 3 LR for 85k kilometres. Not one visit to the workshop. Enjoy your gas guzzler you service lord knows how many times during that same period
@zocker16008 ай бұрын
@@garyanderton so you failed to give any counter argument and also included an insult, very convincing! but you don't need to worry though, the total cost of ownership of the last 15 years combined for gas and repairs + purchase price is slightly short of 20k€, driven 250.000 km Your Model 3 costs more than I payed total in 15 years of driving and it will be totally fine for another 10 years. Lifetimes and total cost of ownership your are only able to dream of in electric cars lmao. Also funny if you think that not having to visit the workshop for a car that is barely 3 years old is anything special. Mine visited the workshop the first time after 8 years and 170.000 km and it was to replace a broken damper.
@garyanderton8 ай бұрын
@@zocker1600 If you consider gas guzzler to be an insult, you must be soft, with all due to respect. That just means large car with high fuel consumption, which is what most anti-EV people from my experience are. As for cost, different circumstances for you and me. I live in Norway, a country hyperfixated on environment, and for us EVs are far cheaper. Let's break it down. 1 gallon of fuel/3.78 litres on average costs $8 in Norway, whereas 75 kWh of electricity costs me less than 10 dollars. Those 75 kwh will last me 400 km during winter, whereas 1 gallon of fuel is spent in no time. Add toll fees for entering the capital every day + more expensive parking for fossil cars, and you have vastly different monthly costs for someone that drives a lot.
@zocker16008 ай бұрын
@@garyanderton funny how wrong you can be. It is a Ford Fusion which is way smaller than your Model 3. Average consumption is 4.4 l / 100km. I am in Germany and 1kWh currently cost me 46ct (or 0.46€). From the purchase price difference of your Model 3 alone I could buy fuel for ~400.000km (~20.000€) and I have a range of 700km in winter. The running cost is also lower: Ford: 4.4l / 100km * 1.5 € / l = 6.6 € / 100km Model3: 15kWh / 100km * 0.46 € / kWh = 6.9 € / 100km It simply does not add up, I understand basic math, I have done this calculation many times, it is simply not cheaper and this is true for most European countries except Norway. Sorry but your thinking that anyone against EVs is a gas guzzler and must have a large car with high fuel consumption is just a ridiculous world view. Just because Norway is heavily pushing EVs down to everyone, does not mean that this is true for any other country.
@garyanderton8 ай бұрын
@@zocker1600 Again: My situation and Bjorn's for that matter, makes an EV financially viable. Your government is heavily dependent on selling gas cars due to your automotive industry. A fossil car is far cheaper in your country compared to Norway, and that has been going on since before Tesla came to the market. Enjoy your car and let others enjoy theirs without propaganda. I've had 7 fossil cars prior to this, and aside from a 2016 X3, not one of them were enjoyable. VW with their rust, BMW and their timing chain issues, and these cars were driven less than 100.000 km at time of purchase. If you purchase a used car, you're heavily dependent on the previous owner having been neat with services - which certainly aren't cheap. You can do them yourself, but lose resale value.
