Aside from the various methods mentioned, do you still think there is a need for a physical camera cleaner eg. spray nozzle, wipers or coating to fully resolve the occlusion issues or is software enough?

Rear could definitely use a wiper, it gets blocked with water so often. But maybe the same vibration from the motors could solve it too?

Just to lay it out on the table, does anyone think they’ll just simply remove the “camera warning messages” from the UI even though the cameras are physically still occluded, just to build confidence in the drivers

The current camera suite can be tuned for better vision at night, the only thing that would really help more is probably infrared if that’s what you’re referring to

Infrared cameras (thermal sensing) are generally much lower resolution. They also require windows in front of them that are made from IR transparent material like sapphire or germanium, not glass. It could be done technically, at some cost. There may not be good data on detecting false images like reflections of the sun or a bird flying. They deactivated the radar in older models because the false data was overall making things worse not better.

It’s possible as FSD becomes more mainstream through various other manufacturers, these options might eventually be offered for free. Otherwise they might also offer a la carte option soon when v13 comes out

Complaining for years by many about wipers with no fix. Removing alerts will likely be what’s done. Likely not to improve wipers during drive, day or night. If can’t fix wipers during day drive for years what will improve especially at night.

I can see this time being different just due to the fact that Robotaxi and ride-hailing network has an ETA, they need to prepare for unsupervised FSD deadline and these issues shouldn’t exist

John despite tesla niw worth $1 trillion I'm still not impressed with FSD was using it in vegas 12.5.4 literally went off the exit the other time I used it it couldn't even make a simple roundabout so I wash my car let's see if it does any better on 12.5.4.2
