Bro, first off, Merry Christmas to you and your family! But secondly, where have you been, man? I've been refreshing my timeline every day since V13 dropped, eagerly waiting for your update! Don’t leave us hanging like that again man, lol! All that aside, lol, as usual, your commentary was honest and top-tier! V13 is THAT GIRL! LOL. I got it yesterday, and I spent most of the day driving around Toronto using it, and I didn't want to stop! There’s no exaggeration in saying how STELLAR and MAGICAL this version is! I previously owned a Model 3, HW3 vehicle with FSD V12.5.4.2 and wasn’t much of a fan of that version. FSD 12.5.4(X) (for HW3 vehicles) brought a lot of phantom braking at intersections and green lights, which, in my opinion, made that version a travesty! I eventually sold my HW3 car and then bought the 2025 Model 3 LR RWD with AI4, and literally, everything is better! FSD V13.2.2.1 with AI4 vehicles is pure magic! This is not an exaggeration. Eventually, Tesla is going to have to upgrade all HW3 vehicles because the difference between HW3 and AI4 is night and day! Anyway, I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. Keep the awesome videos and honest, impartial commentary coming!

Great test. You have all in your surroundings that is important for FSD to cope with: suburbs, highways and of course NYC. As FSD gets better test tend to get longer and longer. I really wish tests to get more standardised and challenging. Like your regression route which would be quite good if you always did it at rush hour. Similar regression routes for highways and NYC. Really challenging situations like different school zones, around bus- and train-stations, inner-city situations with a lot of busses, trains, pedestrians, bicycles, buggies…

Great video, love how you test it! Did a 400-mile round trip from Vancouver WA to Edmonds WA for a Christmas Eve family get-together on v13.2.2. Only 1 disengagement, and that was just before getting home, turning into my neighborhood! It is so amazing with city lane merges and roundabouts, hundreds of miles of I5 including 80mph driving and stop and go driving (in Seattle), then neighborhood driving and errands around Edmonds. The disengagement was because the turn into my neighborhood is from a suicide lane where you can turn in both directions. This instead of a dedicated turn lane, and it, for some reason, won't get into the suicide lane to make the turn. Silly error by FSD. Also rained on the drive home heavily 3 times, and fsd never gave up. It reduced its top available speed during the heavy rains and moved over to the slowest lane, but was able to at least stay at the speed limit. Sped back up again as the rain eased off to full hurry mode speed and performance!

@@BlackTeslaI just got this morning, so I haven’t driven tonight, but it goes off for about 3-5 minutes. Then come back on for 1-2 minutes. It was working fine before in 12.5.6.4 (I think it was that? ) I thought it was Tesla trying to lower the threshold so they can test un-supervised--more test tomorrow! While dealing with cars is perfect. it still has a habit of trying to make left turns from the straight lane if it can't get in. I also wish it judged the speeds of cars before making lane changes via highway, it seems to make lane changes for somewhat no reason at times. but it finally stopped braking at emergency signals! I think the only time I take over is because of things like waiting in the bus lane or being in the slow lane. I'm hoping for unsupervised by this time next year. what do you think? Ps. Are you in tech? I’m another brother in south Florida, work in vCISO at my own company!

My only gripe on 13.2.2.1 is driving on a road that's wide open with no lane markings, it drives absurdly close to the curb where I could reach out and touch mailboxes from the passenger side if I wanted, yet the entire road is wide open and no-one is around. I guess it's technically correct but feels better to driver more towards the center of the road in that scenario. Other than that, its been spectacular, an incredible build, so damn smooth.

I love my 13.2 in my Model Y. Every chance I get, I have it engaged, and very rarely have to disengage for any reason. But I will say my routes are much more simple, and generally shorter than this. So I might have a different opinion if I had to drive in congestion all the time. Yeah, the tunnel is kind of freaky, because you have nowhere else to go. If it decides to bury the front of the car into the wall or slam-dance with the neighboring lane, you just have to be ready at any moment.

Here are the issues that I have with this build. 1) Car tends to bias more towards the right side of the road when driving on a residential street. It can get a bit uncomfortable when the car gets close to the parked cars. 2) Once in a while, the car will make a wide turn. 3) The car sometimes cuts through a solid white line. This build is significantly better than the V12 builds. On freeway driving, I honestly feel like it drives better than me. On city streets, it needs very little supervision. Almost human level driving. I would say that FSD is close to being feature complete and will be ready soon for unsupervised driving.

Another capability fsd needs to grow is understanding cars blinking their high-beams as a signal that they want / are allowing the vehicle being blinked, to move before they do. This has happened to me about 5 times in the past few weeks. Great to see so many polite people, but fsd needs to understand this communication so I don’t have to disengage or confuse the other person and screwup the traffic flow by not moving.

Really good test drive! You seemed to give it more credit than I would have on the tunnel lane change. My experience in test places that in the "contact" category. I'm also wondering if the tolerances for the lane were too tight to maintain without hitting the curb or the dividers? You were there though and or maybe have seen it before? I'm also wondering if that was as the result of the data received from driving videos. Humans tend to do that all the maneuver time....frustrating. Your question about NY test drivers prevents an interesting scenario. I wonder if the gathering of that data would be another order of magnitude in complexity given the number order of variables in NY driving!
@BlackTesla2 күн бұрын
I gave it credit because it's always done that so I expected no less here. There seems to be a mapping issue where it's needs to get into the right lane at the end of the tunnel but the powers that be have limited that behavior with cones and such but the car insists. Sometimes you can get in that right lane at the end so 🤷🏿♂️

I’m very pleased with FSD here in Philadelphia. I’m concerned 22:33 and 27:06when changing lanes on the highway FSD seems to change lanes in drivers blind spots I have seen numerous accidents because of that.
@BlackTesla2 күн бұрын
It does change lanes in the blind spots alot BUT it does a great job of reacting even if the car in the adjacent lane drifts in the lane so no worries there
@timepstein274Күн бұрын
I agree that there is no problem changing lanes in drivers' blind spots because a) It always ensures that it has a backout/escape path available if the other drivers zags when the FSD zigs, before committing to the lane change - it will never do it if it could become boxed in b) it has super human reflexes and will adapt instantly if the other car moves. Changing lanes in a blind spot is a very human problem, but not an FSD problem

Great walkthrough of Tesla's FSD 13.2.2! It’s impressive to see how far Tesla's software has come, especially with the smoother cornering and better traffic interaction. The handling of complex intersections and decision-making improvements really stand out. 35:35 I disagree. FSD changes the way it drives based on geography. Example: FSD Assertiveness for crosswalks in NYC is way different than for small town. “If it can drive in NYC it can drive anywhere”, this may be true but I think too much bias in the training data for NYC would lead to many behaviors that are inappropriate elsewhere. Driving in NYC is its own beast and shouldn’t be emulated everywhere.
@BlackTeslaКүн бұрын
We can agree to disagree. As presently presented, FSD does not change its behavior based on geography. 6 training data is heavily biased on the bay area and San Francisco, which is why it falls short on other driving scenarios common in other areas. We don't need too much bias on NYC we just need a core data set for NYC that can be applied to just about every other city in the country and abroad. Think London, think India, Italy, etc. But again it can drive like a New Yorker in NY and drive like a Californian in San Francisco. But the NY data will make other driving scenarios much easier to solve for.

Thanks for the vid and making the effort to go into NYC!!! As for Tesla being putting a FSD-HQ in NYC, I think there are 2 reasons. The biggest probably being regulatory approval. NYC has a lot of red tape and other limiting rules. For instance Uber drivers from outside NYC cannot take passengers out of NYC once they dropped someone off in the city. Reason #2 I think is just how hard the challenge is in NYC. San Francisco and Los Angeles and a host of other large cities are probably a bit easier while providing sufficient training data to improve driving in NYC. As for licensing in Florida and Michigan. Florida is a red state and pro-Tesla and has favorable autonomous driving rules. Michigan is home to the 'Big Three' (or 2 now). And I SUSPECT GM and Ford is getting ready to license FSD. Launching it in Michigan makes it much more manageable for them since they have a lot of clout there and more resources to manage the adoption and rollout. I didn't know Tesla was hiring FSD test drivers in Michigan and this actually increases my confidence in how I read Mary Bara's talk recently on shutting CRUISE down and about what's coming for GM's approach to ADAS. I received v13.2.2 last night and it boosts my opinion on FSD and Robotaxis. I think Robotaxis are a lock for 2025. E2E highway especially is a total and absolute game changer. Highway driving is boring and stressful w traffic. Since E2E highway on v12.5.6.3 highway driving is 99.99% licked.

I have HW3, so am on FSD 12.5.4.2 but while in most ways FSD 12 is better than the enhanced Autopilot it replaced, specifically in the Lincoln Tunnel, Autopilot was more reliable. It never attempted to change lanes -- FSD does it all the time, especially from the left to right lane. The other thing that FSD 12.x does but was not visible in your FSD 13.2.2 video. The other thing that FSD 12.x does, but Autopilot did not is slow down to a crawl when the pylons are separating the lane. I have to hit the accelerator to avoid the car following from beeping at me. Lastly, outside the the tunnel it has a tendency of trying to chose the lane that would end up sending us downtown instead of uptown (we are headed to the UWS). Did you ever have the pylon slow down issue with FSD? Great video, great commentary, thank you as always!

Excellent point about coming to a full stop. I see a legal problem ahead if Tesla implements modes that by design break the law, speeding, rolling stops, rolling right on red. In some states you may not drive so as to impede the flow of traffic, you can get a ticket for driving too slowly when others are speeding. An hour later the same speed is acceptable. When we get unsupervised FSD the issue of liability has to be addressed. If Tesla allows the user to select a mode in which there can be a prima facie illegal or unsafe speed or maneuver who is liable for the traffic violation and who liable for any damages. Personally, if I am not driving, I want a safe, smooth and legal trip. I want my wife to be comfortable using FSD. The time saved by going 75 ot 80 in a 65 zone is simply not worth the risk.
