My wife's 2023 model Y got fsd free for a month, version 13. Used it yesterday for about 40 miles in central NJ. I have been a harsh critic of fsd over the years but it was near perfect. People in the car didn't know I wasn't driving. Looking forward to seeing it get even better. ty

Been using v13.2.2 in heavy rain and it performed flawlessly. I am sure this will come to the Tesla Semi. It will be a game changer for the drivers. The Fatigue of constantly pressing accelerator, monitoring blindspots for more than 6+ hours will be reduced. What Tesla has a Winner.

It’s always been good in rain, though I don’t understand how, considering the rear camera gets totally distorted by water drops on it. Would love to know how it’s working around that.

Semi-related to rain: an issue I’ve experienced twice with v13.2.2 is a red-hands disengagement after I squirted wiper fluid on the windshield. Has anyone else seen this? Tesla has to fix that - squirting wiper fluid is obviously standard driver behavior.

Once I started seeing the reviews of FSD V12, I upgraded from EAP to FSD on my 2020 Tesla Model Y. I live in Alaska and use FSD every day, even with the snow on the roads (not when there is a complete white out). The system is amazing, I am looking forward to FSD V13 for Hardware 3.0. Thank you for sharing the NYC FSD experience!

There is no such thing unfortunately, HW3 stops at 12.6. You either upgrade or you stay at that level, it is essentially now the HW2(.5) of the lot. I’m so sad about it actually cause I bought my 2022 model 3 brand new in like November, half a year later HW4 was shipping. I should’ve just waited
@babazoso
@babazoso 15 күн бұрын
@@aa72onhw3 stops today at 12.5.4.2, but supposedly 12.6 is going to be out in the coming days that will bring all of the 12.5.6.x features that hw3 is still missing. Beyond that we don’t know how it will progress, but I expect that it will eventually get v13. It just may take a while and eventually it simply won’t be able to handle any more upgrades.
@aa72on
@aa72on 15 күн бұрын
@@babazoso dont suspect that. HW3 effectively stops at 12.6, regardless of if we see a version that starts with “13” it will be a different model running. There will be no v13 on HW3 as we know it today because the latest v13s main upgrade is transitioning to native use of HW4 instead of an emulation of HW3
@babazoso
@babazoso 14 күн бұрын
@ well it would be a different model trained for hw3 on what v13 knows. Of course v13 isn’t going to stand still, but what they have really done here is flipped from developing the software for hw3 and then porting it to hw4 to developing it for hw4 with the goal of eventually porting it to hw3. I think that we can see the writing on the wall that hw3 will eventually run out of runway, but optimization of a larger more competent model can do wonders and I think that hw3 still has some life in it. It’s just easier to make progress with the more capable hardware and then optimize it for the less capable hardware than it is to try to break new ground and optimize at the same time.
@aa72on
@aa72on 14 күн бұрын
@ exactly. Like we probably get an update to include some form of reversing, and the nice button that lets you start from park etc.. but from here on out we’re stuck with a smaller, more “optimized” model. That is going to lack in comparison to what HW4 is experiencing

It made some great decisions in this video. I don't blame you for being nervous about the way it keeps too far left when there's parked cars on both sides of the road. I think most humans would notice there isn't enough room for two way traffic and assert themselves by driving right up the middle - helps avoid unexpected cats dogs and children too. Something FSD should do.

13.2.2 brought me to dinner and back last night with only intervention a lane choice though a toll booth. It's the first version that I feel pretty comfortable letting it just do its thing. One caveat is that it ran a stop sign which used to be a yield sign. Not an excuse, but I'm liking it overall. It does lane drift and hug the lines occasionally.

@BlackTesla FSD 13 is right now lvl4 certification capable imo. It also, might take another 3 years for fsd to reach lvl5 , but not not with cameras only. Need that second failsafe, when there is no driver to help it out when a edge case has been encountered. On-board voice assistant ai and a sonar sensors are probably going to be needed for that. 🤷‍♂️ Merry Christmas 🎅 everyone and a happy new year. 2025.

As one who has mild numbness in my foot, FSD is exactly as you stated; it allows me to maintain transportation independence longer. I prefer Chill mode as it provides longer following distances allowing me more time to react if I need to take over. I tried setting the speed control to 5% (Tesla recommends 40%), but it lets the car go up to 38 mph in a 25 mph residential area. As for the cost, paying $99 per month is a better financial decision than paying $8,000. In addition, I have received some months for free when Tesla provides 30-day free trials to all Tesla owners. Thank you for your videos and observations.

Thanks for another ride-along, BT. 👍🙂👏 Another theory for the left-biased lane travel at low speed - perhaps the absence of airflow across the cameras at such speeds, after prolonged operation, may be contributing. Again, I hope your driving data makes it to the Austin compute mothership for analysis. Wholeheartedly agree that Elon and Ashok should get some FSD testers pounding NYC in the S3XY fleet and the CT. NYC is going to be a tough nut to crack, but one worth cracking - if it can consistently deliver intervention-free drives there, irrespective of season, it can do it anywhere. That would be a very positive step towards both FSD unsupervised and getting the green light from the regulators.

@ Spot on. And “much more challenging” is an understatement. 🙂 I’m not sure if I would have taken the drive! But the maneuvers I saw FSD making during the condensed 2-hour drive were amazing. My drives are much simpler and are also zero intervention. But as an engineer I am left astounded by what I saw in both these videos. In that one however, I was pretty much speechless. In that video, there were non-standard human maneuvers done with machine accuracy. In my estimation therein lay the problem/question. The concern with drifting in this video when coupled with the things I saw FSD doing in Junkies video make me wonder if there are deliberate AI decisions made to drift away from other vehicles, cross yellow lines, drive in bus lanes, etc. to accomplish “safe passage”. If so, when you consider the things I saw in Junkies video…and this one…it indicates an extremely complex thought pattern/process indicative of seeming human neural net capability. Or is what we saw in that video just plain happenstance?

Thanks for the video with FSD 13.2.2. I just did a first short trip to the Bank and back with the free 30 day trial version 13.2.2 and it did do a couple of disengagements on me. One was at a neighborhood stop sign intersection - for no apparent reason - not sure why. The 2nd disengagement was pulling out of the bank parking lot - that one was because of cutting the exit to close to the curbing exiting. Other than that, seemed to do OK. Next time I do the same thing I will not wear light orange tinted glasses while FSD engaged. That maybe the reason for the first Disengagement. Will see how it goes for this free trial. Backing out of my driveway worked good. Note: I have a 2023 Model Y LR AWD and has HW4 and newer cameras. Take care.

I drive a 2024 Model 3 on FSD 13.2.2 and experience a lot of lane drift. In the cases I’ve experienced it I would say it occurs well before the computer should have heated up. Some of the times it happens on the highway it is downright scary especially when it happens around semis. This build is nothing like when the car would intentionally steer well away from large vehicles. Now it’s almost like my car wants to play chicken with other vehicles around it.

There is no way that a water-cooled CPU is going to overheat in a NYC winter environment. It's not even likely to happen in an Arizona summer. That's just not how these things operate. Also, the car tends to shy away from encroaching vehicles from the left and right, in these latest software builds.

FSD 13.2.2 is very good with some flaws and regressions. -starts to go on a Red light after stopping for 10 seconds -lane drifts a lot local and highway even with vehicles beside it -drives way too close to the curbs time to time -tends to speed enough to warrant a traffic ticket, even with the max speed set at 0% off set. Chill mode is too slow causing tail gaters -wipers are better but at times wipes for no apparent reason. Also dry wipes suck and it should use washer fluid sparingly -wrong lane choice, late lane changes -hurry mode and ridiculous levels of lane changing making it more dangerous in especially bad weather -does not proceed on a stop sign with flashing red light -changes lanes on solid white line sometimes -sometimes tries to make the light on a late yellow -does not make a right turn after stopping and sometimes goes on a no right turn on red -sometimes totally ignore navigation route lol These are some of the problems Currently on FSD 13.2.2

Would really like Tesla to decide L3 would be a major contribution to Telsa owners. There are only 2 requirements. First, be ready to take over if FSD determines it's encountering a difficult situation. Tesla would have to develop a graceful handoff routine. Second, you cannot fall asleep. It doesn't seem like FSD is that far away from L3. Perhaps by mid 2025. Will it happen? Doubtful since Tesla's priority is Robotaxi but frankly if Tesla wants to increase sale substantially L3 would make that happen. Imagine if you're a Ford/GM/BMW/Audi owner watching Tesla owners watching moves, reading, doing a cross word puzzles etc. I think a lot of legacy car owners would switch to Tesla knowing their legacy car company is easily at least 3-5 years away from FSD functionality.

It's cool to see the engineering team finally get it to this point. However, I could never support the company while Elon Musk is involved in any capacity.

The progress is amazing, still waiting for anything half as good as this in the UK. Hopefully whoever makes the rules here will get to see this amazing technology and get on with allowing us with Teslas to use it as soon as possible. Thanks for all your good work ❤

Okay, but can I give you something to think about? From a historical perspective, Henry Ford dragged the world from horse and buggy to what we could arguably say Transportation freedom. But he had his flaws.Henry Ford's controversial actions and beliefs include: Antisemitism: He published antisemitic articles in The Dearborn Independent (1920-1927), promoting conspiracy theories like The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. His writings influenced Nazi ideology, with Adolf Hitler praising him in Mein Kampf Anti-union stance: Ford opposed labor unions, using strikebreakers and fostering violence during labor disputes Racism and cultural conservatism: He blamed Jews for modern cultural changes, including jazz music, movies, and fashion. He also resisted Eastern immigration and engaged in business ventures in Nazi Germany during the 1930s Naturally, there is a lot more but as you know Ford is a big company today. The value Ford brought to the world is immeasurable. So we need to get past the sound bites and look at really what the Tesla product can accomplish for the good of all.

@@okirooju3787 Because he is a liar! He said he cared about the environment right!? Ok so how does that go together with supporting MAGA Repuplicans who don't giva a damm about the environment? It was also him who spread the lie on X about the Haitians eating the cats and dogs of the people in Ohio! He didn't care less putting their lives in danger! He fooled everybody including me, but now he has showb his true ugly colours! He is nothing more than a wolf who was dressed up in sheep's clothing!

You conclude by saying « Again the car is not autonomous, it can’t drive itself. it just has Ai that can manipulate the car to drive from point A to point B without human intervention. Still a level two super advanced driver assistance feature. » What features are missing to make FSD V13.2.2 suitable for robotaxi ? The question is not easy, but the to do list should not be that long now…

Check out the SAE levels it gives criteria for what the levels are. Level 2 requires supervision which is why they started calling FSD (supervised) to comply with thay rating. Levels 3-5 don't require supervision but work under certain circumstances.

I just reviewed it and I think Tesla FSD will be at SAE level 4 (with distant operators just in case) pretty soon. My question was: what is the list of missing features we need to see with the current FSD version to reach the SAE 4 level ?

You are the only tester I know who regularly addresses the differences between the driving modes The new mode naming scheme is chill, standard, and hurry. But it seems that TESLA is not providing relevant information, what to expect regarding spacing, acceleration, max speed, lane changes, etc.?
