I bike to work daily (except rain) alongside the route you were on 6:18 onward down the west side highway. I can assure you of two things. 1) The car was about average when compared to humans. I see people doing all the same stuff with intersections EVERY day. 2) My bike is faster on the bike lane ;-) Also, no right on red anywhere in NYC, not just Manhattan. It's great to see how far FSD has come!

FYI. 0/2 success on v13 so far in NYC. First night last night, drove to wrong side of road. Tonight went straight when there’s only a right turn green light. I’ve never seen a light like that though, not sure if there was a problem or if it’s legit

At this point, I’m in a MP3 2018 with free everything for life, and paid for FSD long ago. Time to sit tight and wait and see if Tesla “offers” anything. Not gonna upgrade just for HW4 and lose my benefits and start having to payoff another vehicle.

Have they fixed speed offset on surface streets? My HW4 model Y (v12.5.4.2) consistent dives 5 miles under the speed limit. Also, I have had issues with exiting freeways when it drives past the offramp as well as failing to stay centered merging onto a freeway. Car drifts into the gutter.

You are too obsessed with car getting too close to curbs or objects but it is possible that it knows distances better than driver due to multiple cameras and multiple points of view. Also visualization does not matter and probably they will not display it once it becomes unsupervised so they won't be spending too much time to synchronize visuals. Waymo has no visualization.

Sure I'm obsessed, when the car hits curbs multiple times costing me time and money to fix I'm going to be strict on curb adherence. In general when going over the line leads to a nail in the tire it becomes a lot more pertinent. It doesn't matter if they have the visualization or not but for now the visualization is the only way the operator understands what the car is seeing or not.

In V12 my model S took a turn and scraped both tires. It’s an issue with the camera. But in any event, it just gets so darn close. It just scares you.

Because Tesla requires someone's supervision in the driver seat, I'd argue it's currently at level 3, and level 4 when they no longer require supervision

Define autonomous….because we as humans just replicate what we have learned from others or experience.

And from that very experience we learn from others, we can apply them to things such as self driving cars. What makes something technologically autonomous is the fact that it can do its tasks on its own from human experience, implementation and automation. When FSD is enabled, the car is driving without human intervention and driving becomes automated for the user. Built with love, by humans :) You are very correct about that.

@@BlackTeslapretty sure Tesla would lobby for it to remain labelled as level 2. That way simpler regulations apply everywhere. The rollout model will be that Tesla is basically doing everything everywhere while still technically classified level 2 until commercial pressure forces regulation to allow unsupervised. Same regulatory approval strategy as Uber - pretend you are one thing until established, fight a few legal battles, win the hearts and minds and then change regulation

@@BlackTesla the literal only reason FSD isnt allowed to be level 4 is because of how much hate the government has for elon. if FSD was say a chinese companies invention and not Teslas it would 100% be approved for all of the US for level 4 or 5 useage. just like how Mbenz's level 4 is basically teslas advanced autosteer but has to be used in very specific situations because it cant handle it as good as teslas most basic AI programs.
