This is very big deal. Monumental day in history of transportation. Let the take over of EV semi begin

The take over of electric heavy duty vehicles is already well underway particularly in Europe & China. "Electric Trucker" is a great KZbin channel (a German guy, but this is his English language channel) - great insights from an actual trucker who drives an electric truck every day, and covers how fast all the major truck manufacturers are transitioning (like the recent IAA Transportation show in Hanover) - highly recommended if you are interested.

testing then certifying with DOT? would open up some interesting customers that run duals like UPS FedEx and I think Old Dominion and Oak Harbor freight.

In his latest video Electric Trucker KZbinr from Germany mentions a study showing that EV truck market share will be more than 50% in 2029 in Germany based on truck manufacturers data! The guy drives an eTruck across Germany everyday and relates all the issues and joys of it

I notice this is a low and high top version of the truck cab. I think I have not previously noticed the low top cab. Are there other styles out there today? Are the testing other classes of truck that you have seen?
@andyonions78642 күн бұрын
There were high and low top versions unveiled together all those (5?) years ago. The only other variants are 300 and 500 mile ranges.

I don't think the cabs are any different, just one has a big aero cover and the other doesn't.

I wonder if there is any point in making an electric dolly for the 2nd trailer
@strawwmann3131Күн бұрын
Trailer Dynamics is about to release trailers like that - they self-control the battery-powered axle drive/regen (can work with both diesel and EV trucks through a clever physical feedback control system), and has swappable battery packs that are underslung along the sides of the trailer. Very neat design, including their use as a transition step in reducing emissions of diesel fleets.

How much sound does a Tesla Semi produce in motion?
@markplott48202 күн бұрын
almost ZERO , except for Thermal system. - note, the ICE thermal system is way Louder and on ALL the time.

SLEEPER
@truhartwood3170Күн бұрын
Don't need sleepers when it can't go that far. Until there are megacharging stations along the highways to be able to charge these in 30 - 40min, they will just do trips of less than 500mi and charge at the destinations.
@westcoast8562Күн бұрын
@truhartwood3170 WRONG. BREAKS ARE MANDATORY FOR THE DRIVERS. PERFECT TIME TO CHARGE. NOT SAYING THEY WILL HAVE SLEEPERS BUT SEMI PRODUCTION IS A SLEEPER THAT IS GOING TO GROW TSLA BOTTOM LINE IMMENSELY AND END THE DEMAND FOR DIESEL .
