Thanks for the video/s📹. They are very informative and helpful. Question: Is the regen any different than it is now with 2.1?

Yes, regen occurs now on both motors. So it is both smoother and less jerky when slowing down. I'm hoping it also helps efficiency. I'll know more over time.

When I am driving alone I use High Regen but will switch to Medium when others are in the car, because unless you feather the accelerator High causes a noticeable reduction in speed that causes passengers to rock forward in the seat.

Yes, high regen can be jarring if you don't feather the accelerator. I'm used to it from driving my Tesla for six years.

Useful, yes. Fun, uh...what's fun about slowing down? Hahaha. OK, but seriously, what about regen and how it affects long distance driving range? This weekend, 11/23, I hope to do a long range test to understand does low v. high regen affects mileage on highway driving. With my Polestar, I did notice that the low regen netted more miles on both city and highway driving. I can't say specifics, because I never paid close enough attention to replicating exact driving styles, but on frequent trips between Palm Springs and Los Angeles, high regen I would average 200 miles, and low regen, around 225. Same for driving to Vegas. I was amazed and happy that I could get 225 miles, 227 once drafting trucks, on a car advertised at 230 mile range. Ironically, when they announced a software update that increased range to 250, it never materialized. Other than, when charged to 100%, the dash stated 250, but I still got 225. On one occasion, I did 90% to 50%, and high regen I did 72 miles, low regen I did 80. I guess the energy used to overcome the regen was more consuming, so the regen became more of a driving convenience. The problem with the Fisker is that it doesn't maintain the settings, so I constantly have to reset it to low. And for city driving, I'm preoccupied and often forget to change the settings. But now, I'm looking to do a long distance on flat desert, so I'll see exactly what happens between the two.

I'm guessing fun compared to some of my videos where I'm repairing issues with the car! I'm at the point where I automatically set driving to fun mode when I sit in the seat! I leave regen on high for local driving and low for highway. That seems to be best for my experience.

Nice and informative video as always! Have full 2.2, We are on Earth mode most of the time and notice more brake dust after 2.2. I think friction brakes are used while on Earth mode but have not fully tested using Fun mode for a good amount of time to confirm the theory. Have you notice the brake dust buildup on the rear wheels?

I have my wheels ceramic coated, so they are mostly clean. Plus I usually drive in fun mode. I have been wondering if Earth mode is using the friction brakes to imitate the other modes. I wish I could mount a camera in the brake caliper area to determine while testing! Maybe a temperature probe could be a good tool to use.

I found this interesting. It answered my questions I had about the different regen modes. I am thinking of signing up to get the 2.2 via the FOA site. Would you recommend going from 2.0 to 2.2? Should I sign up?

Yes, I would definitely update to 2.2. When you schedule, make sure 1) car has good access to 4G or Wi-fi, 2) use a 12V battery tender if you have had low 12V battery warnings, 3) keep the car locked and don't enter during the installation day (8am-11pm), 4) High voltage battery pack at least 30% (I would say 50%),

Interesting thanks for the video. I’ve been doing some test testing of my own. But still working on it Did a little test today with Low regen vs High regen On High regen I got 3.12 miles per %1 On Low regen I got 3.34 miles per %1 It seems like just the brakes are engaging and no regen is happening Your thoughts? I put it up in the FOA form No straight answers I don’t know how we could regen from both motors and one is off

Yes, that doesn't make sense. What drive mode were you in?

I’ve noticed that regen is not efficient. I was in mountains. Went down on other car, it gained 16% of 66 kwh battery. Then I went down on Fisker and got only 3%. I’m on 2.1.

Interesting, I haven't seen much of a difference between the Ocean and my Tesla. 2.2 should help since the regen will now be on both motors.

Hey Matt, can you test if regen is a part of the energy consumption calculations? Either on a long step hill, or just slowing down from highway speeds (70-80 mph)?
@MTNRanger
@MTNRanger 14 күн бұрын
I haven't tested. But compared to my efficiency numbers in 2.2 vs previous of 2.0, it should be including the regen. But yes, a great idea for a video. I'll need to find a suitable location to test.

Hey brother, Still on the 2.0 version Wifi is enabled and car is charged any ideas on what I can do to get 2.1 or above

The 2.2 update has started resuming. You need to contact FOA when they release the next set of update appointments. If you have 1.11 or earlier, they may need to verify if you can do the OTA. Otherwise, it may require having it done by a tech.
