I am not a basher myself but I can appreciate some of what’s going on here. My first RC had a 5 cell ni-cd . I remember the day I saw my first 1100 mah 6 cell hump pack. Stay safe , with that lot.

Yes! The battery technology has come a long way from nicd!

Yeah - kind of hurts actually. I got into RC a number of years ago since it wasn't safe for them to do 1:1 car stuff with me. Fast forward, and I am still playing with the trucks and they aren't as much. Times change!

Just bought my first set of cnhl batteries for my yoko rd2.0 drift build. They seem To be holding up just fine for drifting applications. Good power for a cheap price.

Thanks for the feedback! Glad to hear they work well in that application as well.

I think it would be sweet if you made a comparison video between the CHNL and Zeee batteries as they seem to be the go-to budget battery options. I personally use Zeee batteries in my crawler and would love a comparison! Great video as always Troy!

So far CNHL is performing good in my experience. Got the HV shorties for drifting, they are on par with similar capacity Gens Ace Redline v1 (but don't lose capacity that hard). And I do push them with 80° of total timing on carpet Great value when buying directly from their site - 30 bucks a piece compared to Gens Ace's 50

Solid point! I do plan to pick up some of their shorty 2S soon to test as well!

Awesome video! You should also check internal resistance. Ive seen racing drone guys charge to 4.6 just for a little more time in the air(which degrades them but as long as you can get another lap, it doesnt matter) Ive also seen them pop if they're not paying attention to ir. Also, in my experience, 120c does not equal 120a so id be curious how many amps they were delivering.

SlowRCMike has done extensive speed run testing w many motors and lipos. He says the 70C G+ line is the best CNHL pack for amps (speed runs) ironically better than the 90c and 120c packs . My seat of the pants testing would agree

I’ve been using CHNL batteries for a little over a year or so. Great batteries for all around bashing and crawling. I have noticed 2 batteries so far lost one of the cells out of 20+ I own. Could have been user error on my part.

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback.

Are you running them on regular 4.2v/cell lipo or 4.35v/cell lihv? I run the 5200mah 2s (7.6v HV) shorties in my 2 race buggies and i also run their 6600 2s (7.4v regular lipo) in my slash and they are great batteries for the price! Best lipos for the orice especially if you are racing because the name brand ones are 100 bucks per 1 pack. Combo of 2 CNHL shorties are only 50 to 70 bucks and great deals near the holidays.
@RoadsideRC12 күн бұрын
Hi there! I never run the 4.35v/cell - find it really doesn't help any. I figure if it is designed for that, and I only ever use the 4.2V, it is probably better for longevity.
@timothe55427 күн бұрын
@@RoadsideRC I believe you don't get to use full capacity of the pack tho, because you're not "fully" charging them up to the specified voltage. So your charger only charges like 7600mah (random number) on the 8200mah max capacity.
@RoadsideRC6 күн бұрын
@timothe5542 Perhaps - but I have had no issues.
@bombpoprc20236 күн бұрын
@@timothe5542 good question. Never thought about that. Me and alot of my race buddies that race spec / stock classes have to run 8.4v even though most batteries sold are the HV ones. Next time I'm at the track and once I get new motors in my buggies I might test that. Charge 1 battery to 8.4 and charge the other to 8.7. set a 6 minute timer (usually the length of a main race) and see what the voltage is after that. I would have to consider load which might or might not affect the readings when I put my packs back on the charger.

I cant decide if I want to get LiHV for my Kraton 4s or not. SMC has some that are 9000mah 120c for $90. I was also looking at these CNHLs.
@RoadsideRC15 күн бұрын
I have a few HV packs - and honestly never treat them as HV. It appears battery manufacturers put their higher quality stuff in their HV packs - so that is why I buy them. Then just charge and use them at normal lipo voltages.
@cinos7857915 күн бұрын
@RoadsideRC I am really just wanting some extra runtime more than anything else. The 2 SMC 4s 5200mah I have dont last quite as long as I like.

I have a spare esc and 2 brushless 540 motors. Do you know of any smaller than 1/10 scale rc cars that i could fit them in? Just looking to build a fun speedy basher. I was looking at the reflex 14r but they come with a 380 motor and not sure if the moit could fit the bigger motor.
@RoadsideRC14 күн бұрын
Not a lot of vehicles smaller than 1:10 take 540 motors. Any specific reason why you are looking for smaller than 1:10?
@davidhess332013 күн бұрын
@RoadsideRC honestly, no apparently lol. I guess just for the giggles. Besides the reflex 14r, I was looking at a kyosho ep or a tried an true tt02. I got a 1/10 drifter, a 1/18 crawler. Now I'm missing a speed basher. I mean I NEED a speed basher 😂
