In this video I start my 2 motorcycles a 2019 Harley Davidson Iron1200 Sportster with an AntiGravity Restart Lithium Ion Battery and a 1992 Yamaha Seca II 600 with a regular led acid battery on a 12 degree day in CT after they have been sitting for a month and some of the days the temps dropped to 0 degrees. I ended up learning more about lithium Ion Batteries and I hope it helps you to if you are thinking of getting one to know how they perform and operate.
I am putting the link to the Antigravity battery install in my Harley Below Links for the Battery Are in the description of that video.

I does work different. You gotta use the battery a bit. A regular battery just gets weaker. That one gets stronger.👍🏻 I used to have to jump my Harleys with my truck battery to get them started sometimes when it was cold.

Lithium batteries need warmed up in the cold id say around 55 degrees is where you have to start warming the battery up. Not shure of the exact warm up procedure antigravity recommends but ktm recommends cranking the bike for 2-5 seconds waiting 30-60 seconds then repeating the process to get the battery warm enough to start the bike. I will say I’m quite impressed by the anti gravity battery because it takes around 100 to 250 cranking amps just to get a sportster to crank past the compression stroke. My new 210cca agm battery can barely get my sportster to crank after it sits for a few nights in winter and that’s with clean ground wires, clean battery terminals and a clean fuse box with clean fuses.

Lithium batteries warm up when you stress them with a load, therefore giving it more energy to crank. Next time you could always just leave the headlights on to warm up the battery (instead of cranking it). That would also do the trick.

Most other batteries I have seen that sit any lengthy time you would need to jump it because my conventional battery on my motorcycle just would get weaker and then need to be jumped. But like you say I think also the AntiGravity gets woken up or needs to be on a load for it to revive to cranking specs. Kind of like lose it if you don't use it.

Could you please do a video on having your alarm system permanently disabled? This is what keeps draining my battery,it is so annoying having to keep trickle charging my battery every 5 days ..I take my battery out in the winter but,when I put it back in when the weather gets warmer,I still have to put it on the charger.I know the factory alarm can be disabled because ive asked on several groups.My local shops do not know how to do it,I did find a shop over 100 miles from me but,really don't want to go that far away ty!

This is just weird lol. Warm up the battery, then crank it a few to wake it up. I've never heard of such a thing and if you explained it to me without seeing it. I'd probably not believe you and suggest there is an electrical issue somewhere. Very interesting.

Iv'e heard of many $120+ lithium motorcycle batteries dying in the 1st year instead of lasting the claimed 10 yrs.... I just buy a $40 AGM that I know will last 4-5 yrs with proper care. Although if a newer bikes charging system is made for Lifepo4 and the bike also has a bunch battery draining electronics. A lifepo4 battery might be the way to go.

And this is why, no matter the battery, you should always leave it on a trickle charger lol. Just keep in mind, your lithium battery will probably need a different charger than the other bike.
@MotorcyclingwithCarl
@MotorcyclingwithCarl 2 жыл бұрын
Yes I have a lithium ion trickle charger but it is duel function and was on my other bike. The battery was still fully charged but just frozen. I don’t know but do you think the trickle charger would have kept the cells warm? Probably because there should have been current flow. Maybe that will be my next test.
@YouMotorcycle
@YouMotorcycle 2 жыл бұрын
@@MotorcyclingwithCarl I think cold, hot, or tepid would be less important than the voltage, and keeping it on the charger would have meant optimum voltage. Keep in mind every time you let a battery die, even when you recharge it and bring it back to life, you're shortening the battery's overall lifespan and peak performance.
@MotorcyclingwithCarl
@MotorcyclingwithCarl 2 жыл бұрын
Yes the voltage and charge was full I am pretty sure lithium ion should not lose a charge in a month even if not on a tender. if you read about lithium ion batteries even if they are fully charged but very cold they need to be woken up. If this battery was discharged it would have went into restart mode which prevents the battery from going to low to prevent damage to the battery. Lithium ion is such a different animal than the common lead acid battery.
