That looks really nice, not too leary, but very practical, I have had many people tell me that these will destroy my wheel bearings and other doom comments, but I have used them on my CSW 90 for over 100,000 miles without any problem, the wheel bearings, and the huge benefit, which makes them essential for me, is the really vastly improved turning circle, in fact I have taken out the lock stop bolts and refitted them on the inside, so much is the turn improved, so for manoeuvring in car parks I find them an essential mod! The only downside is that if declared on your insurance they will double your insurance cost for some reason, but that is insurance bandits for you. Your tyres are really good! I wish I could get those here in France. Chris B.

Looks good, as another upgrade I’d recommend getting the washer jet upgrade from CSI parts. Awesome upgrade and Tom is really helpful. It means you can see again when driving in winter or off road.

Great video! I'm in South Africa and as an NPO we have 2 Defenders and do a lot of work in Lesotho. We've fitted 30mm Terra Firma hub centric spacers to our Defenders. One thing that was recommended to me was to use a Stud Lock or Locktite product on the spacers to ensure that they don't vibrate loose. Obviously, it's not easy to check those nuts regularly. I've torqued everything to 133Nm

We have Roadcruza RA1100 (the same tyre as the Comforser CF1100, just sold under a different name) on our safari vehicles in Kenya in 265/75 R16 size and I have to say I am staggered how good they are. They seem totally immune to African road conditions, as most tyres chip badly on gravel, even but these are still like brand new. They also have a really good tread life and grip well in the wet and on gravel. I'd always discounted Chinese tyres before, but these changed my mind.

Could have used the Wolf wheel with Et0 offset instead of Et20 standard offset, they've been available for a while and fill the arch better, would save using spacers. The military left standard studs on all converted 110's (Tithonus etc) when fitting wolf rims, they just increased the torque to 175Nm on the nuts, some mot places can be funny as the stud doesn't come all the way through the wheel nut. Keep up the good work. 👍

Yes you are correct, the truck will fail the MOT if the tester is strict. You must have two or three threads protruding through the nuts. It's basic engineering practice anyway.

Just grind the nut down to the same size

Aluminium wheelspacer are mostly cracked after 10to 15 years or 150.000km of use. Heavily, many cracks around any of the four wheel spacers. I have must changed them three times in nearly 30 years. Mantecs and other, looking same.

Run Wolf style rims on my 90 with Davanti 235/85 r16 terratoura A/T and use the short studs with 170nm torque on nuts as advised they come in at around £170 a corner-I, Edd Cobley runs davanti on his racing Land Rover. I might fit longer studs one day but so far had no problems

Just to set the record straight on tyre width. Wider tyres in sand create more chance of bogging down. It's the length of the footprint which is the key factor, not the width. To get a longer footprint you need tyres with a tall sidewall. Airing down extends the length. I've driven from Lusaka in Zambia to London across the Sahara, wide tyres and spacers are for poseurs. Any engineer will understand the dangers of adding stress to your wheel bearings/stub axles by shifting the unsprung mass of the wheel outwards.

I think the Series 3 is in need of some spacers, just to bring the wheels inline with the body. Are mantec hoping to make them for the LR series? As these won't work with drum brakes.

Hey, is the grill on this the NAKATANENGA one? Could I get the LR website part number for it? the non air-con ones I found are a different shape that doesn't look as good as this!

Well… What I learned from a guy out of Australia 🇦🇺 is… think about what your car is suppose to do BEFORE fitting anything…😂

I have Wolf rims on my 110, I have the shorter studs and have run them for many years with the threads as you have them. It is a risk but so far so good. I am interested to know what the improvement in turning circle is? My 110 turns like a oil tanker😊

Am i correct in thinking these will not fit over ashcroft's HD drive flanges, and will only work with standard style ones?

Do you know if it be possible to fit (DISCOVERY ALLOY WHEELS AND TYRES SIZE 2457017) to my LR 110 Defender. Maybe via a spacer. Thanks.

Hi, great videos as normal. Just wondering, do they do a shallower depth spacer than 30mm?
@petermenzies1714 Жыл бұрын
Wheel spacers are a terrible idea, I would never fit them on any vehicle imho! From both an engineering and safety perspective they present issues * spacers put the wheel centre and resulting forces acting outside of the wheel bearing centre causing excessive bearing wear & premature failure, * spacers increase forces on swivel housings & swivel bearings in normal use and especially when braking or cornering. Spacers also present an additional wheel security risk, this is especially dangerous on a road going vehicle and may potentially cause issues with vehicle insurance for the sake of vanity and “Vehicle Stance”!
