@Lonniebelle19793 жыл бұрын
I just got some too but I was a bit bummed because the largest size (0) was just a hair too small four my thumb. 😞 I don't even have very large nail beds! If you do have large nail beds and are searching for duel forms, SXC brand duel forms come in 14 sizes and the largest size is bigger then my big toe!?! I don't think they make them in stiletto shape yet, though you can create the pointed shape in the form before you cure whichever adhesion method you're going with. I got mine from AliExpress by searching for "stiletto/almond duel forms" I copied the exact wording of the title for anyone wanting to find them... It's "120pcs/set False Nails Forms Mold Square Stiletto Tips Sharp End Stilettos Fake Nail UV Gel Manicure Easy Apply Salon Extension". These were the same brand as the ones on Amazon as well. Lastly, these were the cheapest ones I could find on AliExpress. How this helps someone out there 😘

It takes more skill than gluing a nail onto your finger. I started last yr when cvd happened w poppits/dual forms, and liquid builder gel in a bottle and i still am not fast or very good, and i messed up a lot. But eventually i get a very natural looking nail. For someone like me it is still not quick nor easy. Using POLYGEL or using as Suzi shows ACRYLIC to make the nail inside poppits might be easier. Also if you practiced on other people inbetween doing your own nails one might get better faster.

I've become decent at sculpting as a result, but, sometimes, I'm lazy, and just want to press something on and go. I guess it's not to be for me LOL.
@Shanna23233 жыл бұрын
Maybe you could just use the size 0 then go in and sculpt or fills in the side walls / empty space that the dual form / gelly tip couldn’t cover. I’ve done this on clients with wider thumbs.

@@Shanna2323 That’s what I used to do, before I just accepted my fate, and started sculpting with hybrid gel. I was never one to change my sets out often, back when I was still going to a salon, because I never needed to. I have more luck with dual forms. I now use them, just to sculpt the tips, then I go in and finish the nails, once the dual forms are off. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one with freakishly huge thumb nail beds. I was always complimented by nail techs, I just never realized how tricky it was to get them to work, especially before I knew what I was doing last year 🤣. I had acrylics a few months ago and the nail technician did it with huge bumps on the top and when I asked her if she could make them a bit flatter, she said it's how they're supposed to be because if you make them flat, they won't stay on your nail and I was like "uh...okay, anyways". You can do custom shapes with dual forms. You are creating the nail inside of the dual form and then applying it to your actual fingernail. So you can form it with a square tip or a coffin tip or oval or pointed or whatever, inside the dual form. And my cuticles always come out amazing because after I cure my polygel, I take one of these small football shaped bits in my e-file and take it down so that it's tapered to my cuticle...

I have several male friends that would like to have a long set for a weekend, but don't want to sit and pay for a sculpted set because it would need to come off because of gym/work/etc on Monday. with jelly tips it's less of an issue because you can find kits with 150+ tips, hybrid gel, and a lamp for like $20-40 on Amazon. These just don't come in sizes that fit male hands, especially thumbs. They just end up getting acrylic overlays and staying short.

Hi Suzie I've been watching you for years and I've tried many different things and techniques but I get disenchanted so easily so I've very slowly gotten a little better but I have a question because I love love the poppits because I don't like the hard ridge with the jelly nails but when I use the poppits, I always seem to get too much on.the underside of the nail whether I use gel or whatever it just completely swallows up the underside and gets up under my nail creating a quite problematic crevice for yucky things and the crevice is almost unreachable like for example if I wanted to try to clean it out I don't quite know how to explain it but I've tried filing it with my e file and it's hard to do and obviously very tedious and time consuming. It seems to happen even with less product or less pressure. This is frustrating because I'm not very good at sculpting that's my arch nemesis so I'd love to be able to use the dual forms 😢

So I don't understand why a form is NOT USED with a dual form because the problem I think happens for people who are untrained/inexperienced and using these is that the underside isn't smooth. Normally the TOP is the bumpy part, and gets filed smooth, but when the bottom is all bumpy, how do you fix that unless you have a drill?? And I know that one lady you had on showed that sandwich technique using a tip and a dual form, but for me, I would think you would get the best fit using a nail form to make the bottom all nice and smooth and have it fit perfectly to the shape of your nail curve AND it would have the added bonus of not accidentally getting product on the skin or under the nail.

I've tried the poppit nails, and they keep breaking. I followed this video to do mine, but mine is not working. Do you have any advice for what I could be doing wrong? Tina from South Africa. Thanks

Sorry if you already addressed it, but do the gelly tips just have to be ground off with an electric file or how do they come off? Thanks! UPDATE: I found the video, lol.

Amount to fill in?: How do you know you have enough for the apex on these? Dual Form pressure : when I apply the form to the nail is it ok or should I press down on my nail just enough where I see the gel just start to greet the outside edge? Like no oozing out, not pushing it out but just enough pressure where if I press down more it will start to seep out. Never doing it before it’s difficult to gauge pressure from a video. I’m wondering how much or any extra over flow of the gel is ok, not ok etc. Thanks

Wondering if you need to still build apex on either gel tips or poppits for durability. Does anyone have any pointers on this?

can you do a video with polygel/hybrid gel and gelly tips? and whats the difference between "gelly tips" and acrylic nails you can buy on amazon (usually used for press on nail kind of stuff)?

Actually I put kiss brand salon acrylic press on nails on with acrylic underneath instead of glue. Holding up great 2 weeks out. Regular polish not holding up so well. And I AM a factory worker this is my rt hand (dominate) after 2 weeks digging in totes of screws and bolts.

I'm a very beginner and was using the polygel. How do I keep from getting too much under the nail tip. I found that when I pushed down there was too much under the nail tip. Am I using so much product?

I've been having the hardest time with acrylic because it sets up wayy too fast! I want to buy some of your odorless mon...and slow setting acrylic. Question though, is it safe to use while pregnant?

I thought you're supposed to use polygel with dual forms

While this video is about 1.5 years old, I do have one comment that relates to this topic. I found dual forms on Amazon that only creates the tip of the nail so you still have to make the nail bed yourself. It is a bit of a pain, but you don't have to worry about shaping the dual form at the cuticle but you still need to know how to create your apex and working at the cuticle without flooding the cuticle.

What can I do when neither dual forms and gelly tips do not fit all my nails. I have found out that I apparently have very wide thumbs because nothing seems to work for me. So my thumbs always look silly because the sides are not covered.

I understand this is an older video but I've been trying to do the sculpted as you do but I need something easier & this either way looks like something I can handle. I don't understand why the duo form pops off & the gel tip won't what keeps it from popping off the same acrylic is used. I hope you see this & can tell me because I'm waiting to use the pop it that stays on. You're just so very good with all these nails.

It's annoying that the gelly tips have the number at the tip end... you have to cover with a polish of some sort, you can't use it for some of the clear designs, for example.
