Texas Bus Rescue Part 3 Day 4 - Detroit Diesel 671 Tuning and Injector Inspection. Silversides

On day 4 we set up shop and tune the valves and look at the injectors of the 1947 Silversides Greyhound Bus. It's a Detroit Diesel 671. This is one in a series of videos on this Greyhound Bus Rescue.

Long sleeves are best for heat: sweat gets absorbed into the cotton material , and does not evaporate quickly, thus keeping you cool, I use to wear kaki long sleeve western shirt with starch in them , worked perfect, & I sweat profusely, it works 👍😀

They are all exhaust valves just may sure they are fully up before adjusting them every 60 degrees of crankshaft rotation you can set the valves in just 1 full term if you start on any cylinder top dead center with the injector out you can determine the highest piston. The 6 71 Detroit diesel engine is a awesome engine I have run mine on my sawmill for many years with minimal issues.

Sage, on the 2 stroke Detroit there are only exhaust valves. The cylinder ports at the bottom are the intake. You have to adjust the bridges to make sure you depress each valve the same on each pair. Then you set the rocker lash.

I have consulted our professionals and you are correct but since we did not touch the valves the bridge is where it should be.

They are all exhaust valves...no intake valves on 2 stroke Detroit.

Quit complaining about the heat lol G'day fellas, We get 38 to 45c plus (110/115f) and higher for weeks sometimes and its lovely! The trick is no synthetic clothes, 100% Cotton drill fabric shirts, Cotton work shorts with either bamboo undies or freeballing/Commando. But the real trick? a Wet hat. Stops radiant heat, wicks heat off your head. and when its dry its time to dunk it again. Worth noting that Southern Hemisphere Sunlight is harsher too. Oh and FYI if you are freeballin in shorts? Take extra care with the wide shots on livestream LOL
