Hey Sage not getting any younger. I'm 75. Set yourself up a upper body support to work on water manifold. Just plywood cut to length laying on a step ladder helps. Cole Hershey switch can be cleaned with military contact cleaner. Use blade style fuse holder not tube style. By doing this change less thing to go wrong. Car body insulation put on the ceiling will make easier to heat. Thanks for the video

soooo...pretty much everything! haha. Rad bus though. I love working on vintage vehicles. I have a 46 Ford 1.5 ton truck, and a 73 Ford F100. When you opened your fuse panel I expected it to look like mine. Not one fuse, just heavy guage wires between connections. Very strong fire hazard haha! Get wet on very rainy days and shorts my lights out. Fun while driving at night. The sparks are fun though. Its like a mini firework show in my dash. I have my sights set on a Silversides also. Spoke to Jason and he gave me some good leads. My retirement plan is a Silversides coach!

Hey Sage. I thought I had seen all your vids. Just spotted this. If you had 137 buses side by side, you would not see two identical governor conglomerations.

It all sounds good Sage. Keep up the good work. Patina though... ugh lol It's such a tired word and concept nowadays; It smacks of FAD. This Bus needs love in the outer aesthetic. Pick a colour... go for it. Make it fresh again. It will fuel whatever mechanical issue you're working on in the future and warrant the work.

Someone told me the cavity in the floor used to push heat through the bus and channel the clutch/ gear selector rods was lined with asbestos. I was never able to confirm that so to be safe I ran aluminum 3" duct work for my diesel heater, It worked great and heats the bus very well! Great video Sage! Your punch list has inspired me to add some things to my list!

I converted all the glass fuses in my old van to circuit breakers by doing this: get some copper tubing of the appropriate diameter to match fuse clip diameter. Cut a narrow slot down one side, then cut into appropriate lengths. Push the blades from your circuit breakers, centered on the slot and solder them in. Now cut a wide slot in the middle to create the two halves. Now you can plug this assembly in where a fuse had been and never have to replace a fuse again. I have had mine in for years and haven't changed a fuse in that time.

@@douro20 indeed, Tyler has a great start point as he has a good engine. That seems to me to be the most critical , besides air and brakes of course.

Hi Sage, it was good to see the buss properly. I’d throw a heater in it and spend the rainy days working on the inside and save the engine and exterior for summer 😊 For your switch panels, try soaking them in a Ultra Sonic cleaning machine. It works a treat for vintage computer switches that you can’t pull apart. They seem to blow the dirt off the contacts. Look forward to seeing more. :)

Those switches in the dash look like they have seen their better days a while ago. If you try to clean them, and use a contact cleaner such as DeOxit by Caig, which is a great cleaner, beware that it can swell and deform some types of phenolics used in some types of wafer switches. And maybe those push-pull switches. I use a micro brush ( I buy mine for my model railroad at a hobby store) and very lightly clean the switch contacts that way, making sure not to drown the switch. Cleaned a lot of switches in old 1950-1960 vintage Ham Radio gear that way. I'd check in with Yoda... umm I mean Phil ... and see what he says. He will know best. I hope you film that panel while you restore it.
