Hey Anthony. I remeber back in the day when I was in middle school following your content when it first came out, Im 28 now. It was the most informative teaching online and truly innovative in regard to lessons. Nobody was doing the camera angle you do and it tremulously helped my playing. Thanks for all you've done for us. You found your spot in the guitar world for sure!

I've been playing hair guitar since 1985. I was 15. I've been into Stevie since he made his first appearance on Mtv when Kurt Loder talked about the Bowie vid. Saw it As It Happened. Something about him touched me. I'd been around some serious players and they had some serious arrogance issues. Here's the guy who outplays Jesus and when someone says he's the greatest, he says, "Nah, I'm ok, but I'm not the best." I've seen him live a bunch if times. I just loved him. He kicks his demons and gets straight, and God wanted him back. I was partially asleep when the news broke and was played on Q95 in Indianapolis. It woke me up and I sobbed. Tore me up. When Elvis died, I was a kid. I asked my dad why everyone was crying. They didn't know him. He said he touched people and they loved him. In that moment, I knew exactly what he meant.

It's not that bad when you break it up into smaller licks. Obviously I'm nowhere near the recording but that lick always seemed superhuman to me so I'm surprised at how digestible it is lol. You're the man Anthony!!
@Texasbluesalley2 жыл бұрын
I have had the same feeling every time I dissect a seemingly impossible Stevie lick. At the core, it's usually just a series of simple licks, rearranged in different orders, but played at an impossible speed and almost perfectly clean. Not hard to understand, but very, very hard to execute.

@@Texasbluesalley : I once faked a video by recording a SRV-lick slowly and presented it at regular speed - I think that it's ok since it was meant to be a tutorial and not to show off. This Texas Flood is crazy fast and rhythmically demanding that it frightens me to learn it. I'll let you know if I will succeed some day.
@Texasbluesalley2 жыл бұрын
I actually considered doing something like that for this video (with disclaimer of course), but the timing turned out to be MORE tricky when playing it slow. When I slowed it down any more than shown in this video, I had a really hard time hitting the right accents on the right beats.
