I like the differences between Prime and Megatron in this episode. Megatron raids a tomb, commiting sacrilege. Prime is shocked and seemingly a little disgusted he would stoop that low. When Megatron charges at Prime with the Dark-Star Saber for the first time, he yells in a primal rage. Prime merely just runs towards him calmy with intent to fight. After Prime got the Star Saber, Megatron immediately went to try and level the playing field. Becoming frightened and angry at the power Optimus got. Going straight into making his own weapon of mass destruction. Feeling that he was inferior. After Prime gets the Saber broken however, he gors right back to minding his own business. Prime doesn't need a weapon of that power to level the playing field, he isn't frightened of Megatron. He was drunk on the power the Saber gave him, he never had a real use for it as it turned out anyways. He just carried on as normal, as a true Prime would. It's even ironic considering that Optimus wasn't the one who even killed him, it was Bumblebee. Who could barely even lift the Saber, let alone kill Megatron with it. His own hubris led him to not expect the unexpected, and it in turn led to his demise a the hands of a Scout.

Hell, even Shockwave, who is second only to Soundwave in terms of loyalty to Megatron, questioned this, and he's done some pretty heinous and petty things in the past. The dynamic Megatron and Optimus have is also an interesting subversion of the usually hero-villain tropes of fiction. Megatron, born a slave, fights his way into the upper echelons of society and leader of the resistance movement. Usually, he'd be the underdog hero, but no, his demons overcome him and he becomes a monster far greater then his oppressors. Optimus, or Orion, wasn't born in the lower classes of Cybertronian society and had a comfortable position in life as a meek data clerk. You'd expect him to become an enforcer of the corrupt, crumbling society he prospered in but, instead, he becomes an advocate for all and one of the greatest heroes the universe has ever seen.
