Trading bots truly ruined what was once a fun side-hobby in the game, and no one ever spoke up against them for years in the same manner people did with Casual Mode bots because people actually find benefits for them for convenience sake at the cost of ruining a living, breathing community and economy. There might also be the fact that the whole Counter-Strike like system Valve introduced since Gun Mettle in 2015 (with the FOMO-like rarity tiers, trade-ups and stuff) also slowly deteriorated the economy alongside the aforementioned bots, as well as no longer having big, popular places for people to actually trade in like TF2Outpost (r.i.p.).

@@InsertNameHRM The magic of a free market system and a virtual market economy is the simulation of real economies. You can't just block optimisations, nor can you prevent margins from shrinking, even if you do block this type of stuff it will simply be circumvented. The issue isn't trading bots nor is it rarity tiers or skins. The issue is simply a lack of users that are into trading. It is not that profit isn't possible, you can do well at any level. However it is simply too slow. It used to be quicker. In a way trade bots actually help here as it allows for some level of trading to still be done without other people. The item system in tf2 is absolutely genius but there just simply isn't a large enough user base left to truly appreciate all of its intricacies. It's a system with arguably more complexity than that of csgo with at the very best 1/10th the userbase.

@@trevor245 I feel like that's the issue at large with modern TF2, where the modern playerbase doesn't wanna bother to try anything outside of Casual Mode play despite how much the same community boasts about all the capabilities the game has. Nobody bothers to trade items anymore because it's just easier to buy from bots or directly with money on the marketplace when needed (or people are just simply content with what they have and play as is), nobody bothers to create and play on community servers because Casual Mode already exists to fill the itch your average player has when playing the game (as well as how they dismiss the community servers experience as being "gimmicky garbage that's not as well designed as the official gamemodes and maps"). It truly is one of the many reasons why the game has been going downhill, even with the recent banwave from a couple months ago.

The one I hate the most is the Goku one. Whenever I try to trade with him someone else trades using the refined I tried to use in my trade which causes me to retry the entire trade. Its not too bad when the item is like 6 refined but the problem becomes apparent when you're trying to buy/sell a 40 refined item.

It's insane what one key would do for you. I remember when a key used to be worth less than 3 ref, now a single key is 67 ref, that's 600 scrap!

i miss tf2 trading honestly. i remember doing a little from 2014-2017 and i had a lot of fun. the time spent to profit made ratio was pretty shit but that wasn't the point imo. just chilling on vatican city and seeing the same ppl gave me a feeling of community i have yet to experience again online.

I am most certainly the reason STN is devoid of painted cosmetics. I'm not even flipping them, I give them away as a way to remember how horrible it was to trade up via auctioning painted cosmetics. You can resell vaccinators for around .55 ref You can also fill specialized killstreak fabricators then put it onto a unique weapon for like 3-5 ref profit for each fabricator its great

One thing I would mention is that you were on the right track with the AWPer Hand craft, I don't think the AWP Hand itself is profitable to craft but there's some weapons out there which are, if you do the maths there's some which net you profit in the long term. Won't say which ones though...
