I'm glad I found this video. Really liking the style of editing here. I would also add 2 things: - Crit a cola has one hidden stat that people don't pay attention to, and it can also be seen in some of these clips: you are marked for death ONLY when you actually fire your first shot from that glowing weapon of yours. This means that you should carefully pick your moment to shoot, instead of just spamming it from across the map for chip damage. Or you can also be annoying and do that too, to give your enemies tinnitus from the minicrit sounds. But if you drink it while flanking and decided that engaging is too risky, you can just run away and not take minicrit damage. - The guillotine is great for charging up your soda popper's hype meter (if you use it), since bleed damage also counts towards it. I use the wrap assassin so I know about the bleed effect, but now you convinced me to give the guillotine a shot as well! I guess your video was a success then ;)

Your retro intros are actually insane. I feel like you’d benefit if your voice was a little louder in the video, it’s noticeably quieter than the retro sequences, and it would just make the video feel higher quality in my opinion. Edit: Felt like this kinda comes across as critical, I love these videos and I don’t want that to be lost in this. Just as an outsider looking in, I can just offer my opinion on what I think would help.

Good video with nice editing, I enjoyed it. I definitely would say that the crit-a-cola is better than bonk because if you use bonk, the enemy team knows you're in the backlines and will still target you when the effect wears off (additionally, one of its strongest uses is blocking sentry damage so a burst damage class such as demoman can destroy the sentry). Crit-a-cola, while worse on scouts that aren't good at dodging, can make good scouts far more oppressive, and it synergizes incredibly well with weapons like the shortstop (the mini-crits and tight spread of the shortstop allow you to fight entirely at medium-range which makes it much safer) and the force'a'nature (which can allow you to more easily one shot light classes, and even one shot medics at max rampup).

Editing was top quality, great job. Loved some of the transitions, especially the W turning into the ground for the scout to run on. Pacing could be improved a little bit, there were a couple of excruciatingly long pauses. Audio changes at about 5:55, try and be consistent with your boost in post, distance from the mic, etc. Podcastage is a great resource for how to maximize audio quality with the gear you have. Looking forward to seeing your future work.

I have been playing Scout for a large amount of time, and one thing I recommend is that use the Flying guillotine in conjunction with the Baby Face's Blaster, you can build up your boost with it's bleed. The bleed can negate the downside of the Bfb as if you lose your boost you can throw it back while running to make a quick escape, the playstyle is extremely fun especially on open maps... Edit: You can also equip the Wrap assassin as your melee, and with that it can maximize the effectiveness of bleed damage to fill the boost in almost less than 2 seconds, you can also use it at mid range to build up boost while maintaining distance, once you are familiar at this set of weapons you are mostly going to be hard to fight against

Personally think bonk is kinda underrated. Very good for getting out of situations and distracting enemies and sentries. Good coordination with bonk can easily take out a nest and distract a whole ton of players. And as you said, can be used to get into the backlines but even then I think thats its least important upside. And the crit a cola makes you take minicrits, not crits. And it has very good synergy with specific weapons, or can be used to pick off enemies extremely quickly, but is still probably the worst.
@WonkOfWonkyness2 жыл бұрын
I love these vids tbh. The stylistic choice makes it look like something from between the 90s or 80s
@yesod16022 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: you can cancel the Bonk's slow down by jumping at the right moment or being in the air. It's not 100% consistent but it works from my experiences like 90% of the time and its really useful. Also with bonk it is best used in open spaces. One of the things I do on Upward as Scout because the first point is really clunky is to go through the flank and surf off the sentry gun with bonk to immediately get behind. It is not a horrible sidegrade, its worse than the pistol but it doesn't make it bad. Bonk can be incredibly powerful in multiple situations. I have saved myself from pyros with bonk so many times and its amazing.
@King_Kaboom2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, it's a shame how underrated the bonk is in my opinion. The bonk is a very nuianced secondary that is as useful as you can thnk of making it. I typically use my bonk to turn my Scout into a human shield. I even stuffed an entire Heavy Med uber push with the funny fizzy drink by standing in a doorway and body blocking them, truly a mastermind play. Other times I use it to stand in front of Heavys or Soldiers/Demos to eat their shots at my team. One of the most practical uses for it, other than flanking, is actually taking on sentry nests. The Bonk is basically a one-man uber that you can't attack from. You can't attack, but your team can! If you've got a power class with you and there is a sentry ahead and you don't have a medic with an uber ready, make that class's job easier by popping that bonk and drawing that sentry fire.

My go-to loadout for Scout has always been the FaN, cleaver and either the fish or Wrap Assassin. And the cleaver is always really good. Maybe I'm just good at hitting em, but it's really helpful when you use the gun that knocks people away, cause you can hit them from afar with it. And also, it charges extremely fast for a weapon that has a rechargeble thing. Good weapon.

Great video! I gotta disagree with the crit-a-cola take though. I don't think it's a crutch for new players. I think it's more of a menace when put in the hands of top players. When scouts that can solo-dom 12-player servers (if you know those servers then you know how nutty/petty the players on them often are) uses the crit-a-cola it feels like there's nothing you can do and you'd be better off just playing a different server.

One? Dude all but two of Scout secondary weapons are BANNED in comp, only stock and winger are allowed, so he pretty much has a lot of comp banned weapons
@airchampion46582 жыл бұрын
@@throwawayaccount4398 Yes, but not all the banned ones are necessarily blatantly game busting. The flying guillotine and pretty boys Are banned in most leagues but they are not Insanely overpowered. The pretty boys is a super oppressive weapon like the mad milk but it is unbalanced due to giving scout on demand Hp. The cleaver is not super broken but is more of a gimmick with essentially no counterplay guaranteeing 90dmg or so on hit + flinch from bleed. I mentioned the mad milk simply because it’s so fucking blatantly busted that not even idiot pubbers can dispute otherwise. At least with the cleaver you could say “it’s hard to aim, or, it’s inconsistent due to it having a cooldown.” The mad milk is literally just throw it and your team wins the midfight.

3:48 Atomizer is better because there are so SOOO many op options for Scout secondary that taking the winger is Gimping yourself. Reverse is true for Scout melee which virtually has no good melee, Wrap assassin and basher are nice but former is pretty weak projectile and latter is only useful for 6s. While with secondaries you have all weapons besides stock and winger being banned in competitive, aka all of them are infinitely more viable then winger and since weapons aren't banned in casual might as well abuse them

Running cleaver with the BFB is the most satisfying thing in the whole game apart from maybe double donking and airshotting. 90 full ass HP's worth of dmg in one throw and guess what, if it hits, the next one's ready in under 5 seconds. it almost fills your boost bar which makes the BFB busted if you have the skill. Hell, still not satiated, equip the wrap assassin too, that's 2 extremely fast cooldown'ed weapons that cause ranged bleed damage, you might aswell be the definition of pain train.

The crit a cola is a flanking tool. You get behind them and kill em before they can react. If you’re using it in a head on fight its more risky but that’s not how you’re supposed to use it. It’s situational for sure but I don’t think it’s fair to call it his worst secondary.
