yeah, people who haven't gone through intense trauma can't really comprehend how much your brain tries to sweep it under the rug (where you'll trip on it) as it pertains to the poison apple metaphor... um, your body still does stop you from biting into it. that's why people with social traumas have intense reactions to being touched or whatever, PTSD episodes. Also, he misunderstands _what_ gets forgotten, and to what degree. If your hand gets destroyed in a meat grinder and it's very mentally traumatic and it leads to repressing the memory, you might remember you had an accident, that something happened to your hands and they're gone, but you mind is preventing you from remembering the event in detail in order to prevent reliving the memory and the pain that comes with it. Basically what this comment said, but applied to his example. What kind of event leads to repressed memories is highly dependent on the person, PTSD has a significant genetic component and our brains has grown and developed in different ways and will respond to traumatic events, physical or mental, differently. Two people can go through the exact same thing and will be affected by it in wildly different ways.

Title IX can only go so far in preventing, what, people from getting raises, otherwise idk forcing employers to give raises to their employees at the same rate at the same time? the latter is a possible solution, lol. basically, even accounting for men having higher paying positions than women in general, men earn more for the same workload because they're more aggressive in seeking raises. there isn't really a simple solution to workers who are too passive in seeking raises, at least not one that won't get you secretly flogged for inciting a union or whatever. Both men having higher paying jobs and getting more raises account for the average earnings gap.

I'm grateful that summer update was as good as it was... however, today is the day i deleted tf2. (1338 hours) I had a nasty 2 hours of 2fort that made me ragequit the game. So i was trying to complete a stupid 2fort contract, whatever yeah hard but not something that worried me. But then i noticed a stack of cheaters on the other team. Leave. New server, again, cheaters and friendlies, i don't want cheesing contracts because of friendlies and i don't want to deal with cheaters (mind you i was reporting all of them cheaters but i'm not sure how effecting steam reporting is). Leave. New server, cheater on my team, i ask people to kick they don't wanna, i have integrity so i leave. New server, everything seems normal, no hoovies, no sus players on my or enemy team, i think "this is it", i actually complete contract, now i just have to finish a game of 2fort for it to save (i expect a long game, but i'm patient, this is not a problem). But then a scout with soda popper, suspected in aimbotting. I killbind over and over to spec him, i see that he clearly does, ask my team to kick him, they don't wanna, then he changes the name to mine while saying in chat "no i'm not" and i only could say in response "we need to kick a cheater" and "make him lose progress on his soda popper contract" (he did that) before he starts a vote on me, everyone votes yes and i LOSE CONTRACT, I LOSE MY SANITY, I HATE RANDOM CRITS AND F*CK THIS GAME. Godspeed and #Fixtf2

The idea that a trauma couldn't need repressed fails to account for the downsides of human level intelligence. The ability to explore possibilities and invent also comes with the ability to explore painful things and do things that don't abide by self preservation. Blocking these things out isn't designed to protect you from something external, it's designed to protect you from yourself. About all out forgetting things though, it's certainly possible, but it has to be earth shattering. Forgetting is also a gradual thing, my childhood is very patchy in my memory and doesn't much feel like my own, I know someone who was raped and only remembers it like a description, it seems only logical that if you continue to follow this line you'll get to a point where you simply wouldn't remember anymore.
