Yeah, it’s not just the wide footprint but the weight too. I still think the Wrangler is a better trail climber but the Bronco is phenomenal because it’s comfortable in both rock crawling and high speed desert running. It’s just so well rounded.

It's more of a warning to everyone else that this vehicle consumes most of a legal lane without much tolerance, therefore it may hug or cross the line more frequently. Why in the world we would mandate clearance lights, but not a special license to drive a vehicle that is deemed dangerously wide enough to need them I have no clue. Life sure would be better if I didn't have to contend with incompetent drivers driving extra wide vehicles just because they convinced themselves that somehow they needed the extra width here in rural PA where straight roads are a rarity. And other than a duelly doing farmwork the width is going to hamper more than help.

You'll have to complain to the Federal Highway Administration (DOT) about CFR 49, part 393.11 if you don't like the idea. Ford is simply meeting the vehicle requirements established by the Federal Government. But, being a certified Internet expert - I'm sure you have a much better idea...
@AHungryHunky
@AHungryHunky Жыл бұрын
@@buckhorncortez I think I already implied it, special licensing for vehicles over 80 inches that certify you know how to responsibly and safely operate such a vehicle on public shared roads. But being an internet expert yourself, I'm sure you can read and comprehend the implications in my initial post so I'm sorry for repeating myself. Like a more rigorous driving test, where you are checked for maintaining legal speeds and have harsher lane discipline, do it once and return for an updated license every few years, just like the separation of motorcycle and drivers license. You could even write in a "business needs" clause where if a business owner has provable need of such a vehicle they can operate it sans license while conducting business activities if the economical non-impact of such a regulation is a concern.

I think I would rather have the base Sasquatch with as few options as possible. I love that they made the Raptor, but I think it looks fairly ridiculous. I think the yellow color is awesome, because it looks like a toy I would have owned as a kid, however, that green is just fantastic, even on video it really pops in the sun. I fell in love with it when Andre's buddy with the base Bronco showed up on your channel. Also, I know this is a stretch, but it seems a little nostalgic to me because it looks very similar to the "Bullit" Mustang green.
@KTMcaptain

honestly a base raptor with small lift and high quality tires will be far more capable than what 99% of buyers need. Lockers are amazing, but if you take your time and use traction boards and sand bags you can keep the wheels on the ground. It would be nice if Ford... and Jeep... offered a simple front and rear differential upgrade (Locker and Torsen). Honestly, most of the time a torsen does more than an unlocked e locker and just multiplies the effects of brake based traction control . TJ Rubicon actually had a helical rear air locking differential which makes me sad that they moved away from that cause it's just extremely capable. But I think a rear locker and front torsen or f/r torsens on a base bronco/wrangler would be an awesome package from the manufacturer.

$17K uplift over Badlands/Sasquatch -- think again! Broncos are hard enough to come by and the Raptor will be a rarity -- meaning dealer markups will continue to be HUGE. I actually think the Sasquatch looks better. The bronco raptor is a cool machine but too wide for trails we run out here in maryland and Pennsylvania. Even the normal bronco is kinda big for these trails. 4Runners, tacomas, and wranglers are the go to rigs out here and everywhere basically cause they are nimble and great platforms for enough cargo/bed room but also not big and wide to fit on any trail. But if you live out west in the dessert or Moab, the raptor would be a blast.

I always think "how hard is it going to be to get parts 40 years from now." Yes before you say anything, I drive 3 different 40 year old cars. A 4door AMC concord sedan, an 1980 AMC AMX for fun, and a 83 Jeep J10 pickup for winter and pickup things. So for me, I want a more standard model, so I have a shot at maintaining the thing

Really disappointed in the Raptor grill. I would definitely rather have Bronco on the grill. As far as looks, it would be cool if you could put the look of the Raptor hood and vented side panel on the Sasquatch. I would definitely upgrade the Sasquatch wheel and tires.

I completely agree with you Tommy, about the size. The Raptor is cool, but if I was in the market for a Bronco (I love my 97 Disco) I would get a Badlands Sasquatch. It still has IFS and a Baja mode for the occasional time that I wanna go a little faster, but it’s better suited to tight trails, which are my preferred off-roading environment. I also love BFGs (I have a set of KM3s). Cheers!

I kinda think Ford should take the Bronco, Sasquatch, and Raptor platforms and make a luxury Lincoln version of a G Wagon or Land Rover. That would be pretty cool.

An F150/Bronco Raptor makes sense if you live somewhere with a lot of wide open area where you can run it off-road at high speeds (e.g. the Mojave desert). If you do not, it does not. I'd buy the Sasquatch (I live in northeast Texas and am planning on moving to New Hampshire).

Let’s see, 75 hp more, bigger tires, better suspension and rear diff, and mildly better interior. Is it worth $17k? Idk, you could probably justify it, but honestly I’d be more than happy with a Wildtrack for $55k. Edit: my hp math was real lazy on this Edit 2: also realize the Braptor doesnt come in a 2 door option… that’s unfortunate

I have been waiting for someone to perform a value comparison. You get a LOT of engineering changes on the Braptor chassis and suspension that the average buyer never sees. The Braptor is using a lot of F150 Raptor parts to help cut manufacturing costs. Yes, the price premium is worth it.

Having the tires covered is only required in some states. I know in Texas that dulies have to have a mud flap because a large rock could could get stuck between the tires and slung out and cause a lot of damage or death, but any single tire doesn’t have to be covered. I learned this when I moved my Jeep from Hawaii which does require tires to be covered (not enforced) to Texas. I asked when I moved because my tires stuck out beyond the fenders.

They should've moved the a-arm mounting points further inboard to get the additional a-arm length needed for travel rather than just putting longer a-arms on the original mounting points. That way if you actually need that extra width, you can drop longer aftermarket a-arms on for even more travel.
