I don’t understand all the trolls hating on reliability etc. We purchased our first GM product in 2016 coming from Mercedes Benz. Eventually we became a 100% GM household. We have had nothing but scheduled maintenance and one visit to install rear seat warmers due to the chip shortage in 2022. Any recalls have been taken care of when it’s time for a oil change. Our dealer sells Cadillac GMC Hummer and Buick. Every purchase has been heavily discounted from MSRP and we pretty much negotiate/haggle everything via text and email so the actual purchase is quick and easy. I think half the battle is to do your homework and find a reputable dealer.

It's kind of funny, I used to own an S10 with the 3.6 Vortec V6 engine. People told me horror stories about them, yet at 170k miles and 20 years old the trucks body gave out before the engine. I had a Blazer before that, same story. Never a mechanical issue. Im looking into the last gen acadias and they apparently score lower than Hyundai Sante Fe equipped with the Theta II, the engine that can't make it to 80k and has a lawsuit yet I see acadias for sale with over 100k miles. CARFAX reports show nothing but basic maintenance on most of the models I'm looking at, and the ones that show problems have no reported maintenance history, those two are probably related. I put more stock into what I see and experience over what I'm told.
@lidolf81686 ай бұрын
@@AHungryHunky Yeah, my experience with gm cars is that they either come out pretty good and not a bad buy or they come out a steaming pile of garbage. Brand new or used doesn't matter all gm products are either the most reliable thing you'll buy or the least reliable thing you'll buy. The biggest complaint with the new ones usually is dealer wait time on warranty work all the way to a failed transmission at 35k miles at times. So it's definitely a tossup except for their half ton pickup truck that we're made from the 70s to the early 2000s those trucks will outlast a lot of other vehicles besides the transmissions are their weak point.

@The Fast Lane Car you need to address the greed factor these auto companies are starting to embrace with their "pay-to-play" features. I have been a loyal GM customer for over 30 years. I, for one, will be looking for an alternative to GM next time because I am not interested in a monthly bill in order to use the features of the vehicle I already paid for. It may prove impossible to purchase a new auto without, in which case, I will be actively searching the used market for a suitable older vehicle and i will happily do whatever I need to maintain it. The thought of purchasing a $60,000 auto and then having to pay a fee to use it's installed options is just one step too far in my book and I am certain there are many who agree with me. The new Acadia and the Traverse look very good. I'm so over these tablet-style dash screens though. Just integrate it into the damn dashboard. Having to clean behind that tablet is annoying, plus if it breaks you're at the mercy of the dealership for repair/replacement, which is a 4-figure proposition. No aftermarket option as is the case with a typical in-dash unit. The LCD rearview mirror is a blessing and a curse. The advantages are obvious, but it takes what would otherwise be a cheap mirror and replaces it with yet another electronic device that will cost a fortune to replace when it fails. Regardless of trim, it's a softroader designed for commuting to work on highways and carting the kids and crap around. That's its primary mission.

I liked that I felt very safe and the people tailgating me weren't as visible and annoying. I'm currently driving a 2019 Traverse with the 4 cyl turbo. It has great pick up to get on and off the freeway. Love the handling. Easy to park and feels very much like a quick snappy car. It's not as comfortable and I'm guessing it's bc it sits low the ground - not sure. But you certainly feel the bumps. It almost reminds me of my little 1970'g VW Bug. It's that much fun. Loved both cars. Because of the feeling of safety, I'm looking at the GMC Acadia or maybe even the GMC Canyon. Both good choices for different reasons.

Most look at those and think "premium" I look at them and think "cheap and instantly dated" like a an Apple Watch vs a nice self winding mechanical, one timeless the other E-waste. The panoramic roof is an improvement over the last generation's duel sunroof, and the third row seat in my opinion has downgraded. The previous generation didnt try to convince you you could fit 3 people back there and gave you 2 full sized seats so at least the sucker you convinced to go back there had a whole cushion. Im unsure about the aproach liftgate, thats a "time will tell" thing but i can definitely see the car misunderstanding my intentions and opening the liftgate when i have no cargo to load.

No thanks. I have a 2011 Acadia I bought new in June, 2011. I do not want my doors opening automatically. I don't like doors that will unlock because I'm standing close to the car with the fob. The one issue I don't like about my Acadia, I can not open the rear hatch if there is no power to it. There is no emergency manual latch inside to open it and no ability to use a key from the outside to unlock it. I don't like the lack of security that comes with the fob technology where if you're close to the door, anyone can grab the handle and open you car. I also do not trust my life to AI. I'll do my own steering and driving. My next car will be old and I will pay a body professional to insure the car is solid and the body is rust free and protected. I'll pay a mechanic to rebuild or install a new engine. It might be an old vehicle, but it will be safe. My wife chose to purchase a new car with a fob. She wasn't happy when the battery died in her fob and she had no way to enter the vehicle.

Do not buy. They ALL are coming off the line with third row that can’t fold and no ETA on replacement parts. Had mine a month. Google “2024 Acadia Third Row Headrests” had mine a month, no ETA repair, can’t put my dogs in the back
@gvran714 ай бұрын
In the meantime until a fix, can’t you just remove the headrests?

I watch junkyard♻ videos and 6-10 yo Acadias🚙 are regularly mechanically totaled and crushed, even though if rust-free with rip-free clean interiors. (AutopartscityIL)🚙

Some years are okay, but the early generation had some timing chain issues or something like that. Junk engines and even the transmissions are known to have some issues. I've driven a ton of these over the years from friends, rentals, and work vehicles and LOVE them, but I would be careful which year to buy.
