This is the Jeeps world. The Raptor dose not belong here. Running 60 mph in the desert the Jeep is outclassed buy the Raptor. Two completely different off road trucks. Both the best in the world.

+fatboy19831 Best comment here! I hate the guys who are saying "oh...THAT'S not off-road...'I' go off-roading and nobody can hang with my $100 Jeep". Nothing but bravado! I thought this was a fun vid, but you are totally correct. NOT the Raptor's element here. DEF the Jeep's element! There's not a stock off-road vehicle made that can hang with a Jeep in this environment (MAYBE Land Rover).

@Wojciech Kamiński Because trucks and SUVs belong to different categories of vehicles. It doesn't really matter off-road though, it's just that trucks are usually suited to more rugged terrain.

Austin Hughes real off-road test??? are you serious? Rubicon is a real off-road test. Toyota and Jeep have both used the Rubicon as a test area for their vehicles. It's all good though, I love it when people with more money than brains watch these types of videos then go out and buy a brand new $40,000 truck thinking they can go anywhere only to have my $2500 Jeep rescue them on the trail when they figure out it takes more than a fancy "off-road mode" to make it to the end.

Ok Im just gonna say this. Many trucks are offroad worthy, but what good is having a road queen? Trucks/Jeeps and so on are off road vehicles. Use them as such. Scared of scratches? Buy a sports car. Otherwise paint the truck with Herculiner. This is tuff stuff and hard to scratch and prevents rust. I will just stick with a Deuce and half and make ruts so deep, you'll need more than a Raptor or stock Jeep to make it! If offroading is your thing, then try some of these other older vehicles.

***** But that's what the raptor is made for. Nothing about the Raptor is "prerunner" or "baja" aside from the faltered fenders. It was just designed to look like one and sell to people. It's just a pretty factory F 150. That's about it. Real pro class and baja trucks suspension costs as much as a raptor. But yea, plenty of jeeps are street queens too. But the raptor is nothing but a show car.
@philloft

NoOneImportant556 Coming from a owner of a first gen raptor (2010 5.4 triton) with over 130 thousand pavement/sand/mud/snow/rock driven miles its more than just a show truck.. See people assume just because its marketed a certain way then when an asshole jumps it 90 feet in the air or if they see it driven on the street ( Street queen status) that it is not capable.. Well I'm here as an owner of the raptor telling you sir that I've used every ounce Raptor I can and it is proven.. No its not a trophy truck no its not caged out cracked out pre runner racer. Its a stage 1 factory fighter and No other pickup truck for the money can compare to the raptor I don't care how you want to put it .. The Ram Runner tried yes it did but the companies marketing strategry sucked there for you have to basically buy the truck in pieces which would set u back another 30 grand on top of a $45,000 truck.. I Think not ( personal preference) The raptor is a out of the box ready to run off roader like Motortrend Journalist say "The Porsche 911 GT3 of the trucks" That alone speaks volumes.. Im just saying Before people want to assume try owning one and really using it like a true enthusiast/ driveaholic then if your not satisfied come at a raptor owner or a vid with something more tangible than just vaporized opinions #asiproceed
@mrmidnight32
@mrmidnight32 9 жыл бұрын
Phillip scott First off TLDR, second the raptor is a over priced show car no matter how you face it. People have built 2x better rapters from basic F150's and way better after market parts for 3/4 the price. Your paying for flash, I know ford especially Raptor owners cant face it. But you are paying for a truck with a ton of off road styled bling than a truck thats a complete dominator. I like them, they are sick. But they are not the end all, best of the best truck. No where close. They are half assed everything, aside from looks. It's a half assed road car, half assed dirt monster but 100% show n go. You don't get what you pay for, and its not worth the money IMO. I've already done the math. I wanted one. Went in a different direction instead. Like I said, my buddy actually races his F150 he built, and its worlds better than the raptor and he is still $8k below the raptor MSRP.
@philloft
@philloft 9 жыл бұрын
NoOneImportant556 Now u just sound like a under handed hater.. I never said the Raptor is the end all be all truck thats point 1.. Its a great benchmark to build from yes($$$$$). From the factory in my opinion and from my experiences its worth every penny well spent.. But thats my money and my preferences.. You have your your preferences and your opinions and there are tons of trucks you can build better than a raptor... Duh!!!! Thats a elementary Theory anything after market is better than the factory so please come at me with something logical.. I could build a 95 f150 or older better than the new raptor all it takes is $$$$ and innovation.. What You missed in my response was me telling you out the box fresh out the box a truck worth $45-60k is not all about bling..And Im going to stay strong to my perspective of How you come off because clearly you missed the objective of "The Raptor" besides your assumption of it being a bling bling (maybe u see to many ppl who pavement drive them and just assume) truck which is far from that.. yea it looks good and tough but it backs it up from my experiences of running it into the ground and through the bushes and out of the sand and flooring it over 120 mph keeping up with sport sedans/coupes on the pavement.. Again Im a present owner and a reliable source .. I do grant you this.. The Raptor is not the end all be all truck.. AMG 6x6.. trophy truck.. strict purposed built pre runner builds.. yea thats if you want to spend over $80k.. Soooooo Your point.. Valid on a such a minor level.. Come back me what something new bro.. better yet what do you drive???? And I'm asking you this for a specific reason.... But when you answer I will tell you why.. If you decline my question with a "N" bomb insult your telling me the kinda person you are... because your underhanded hatred for the raptor goes way deeper than the surface....And yess I'm pulling a Dr. Phil lol

Number one rule of off roading is drive over the obstacles. You drove around a rough spot. Stay to the trail, limit your environmental damage. Driving around obstacles and creating new trails get trails closed. Driving obstacles and rough spots is the point of off roading. Stay on the trail!

I recently sold my 2013 Raptor and purchased a Rubicon unlimited . I have to say the Raptor was one sweet truck , but I'm having loads more fun in the bush with the Rubi . I know but GM is the only one of the three auto manufacturers in USA that does not offer a solid front axle on a consumer vehicle. Ford has SFA on their 250/350 vehicles. Dodge/Ram offers SFA on their 2500/3500 trucks. GM uses independent front suspension on their full size trucks. I wasn't referring to the Raptor. IFS works best for the Raptor actual because it is designed for prerunning.

I prefer an older Jeep than the new JK/JL wranglers. I take the Jeep TJ because, you scratch it, you dent it, whatever you don't care if it has cosmetic damage. Newer offroad cars you want to be more careful because they are nicer and more expensive. That is why older off-roaders are better than newer ones.

The Wrangler and not the Wrangler Unlimited is better off road because of the shorter wheel base. It keeps it from high centering. But you sacrifice some weight which gives you traction.
@KnightShadey
@KnightShadey 9 жыл бұрын
Leon Wagner Depends on where you off-road. The Unlimited is a far better off-roader up a steep grade or on surfaces like ice & snow (all of which are my off-road focus). The 2dr is better in shorter situations where you might get high centered or having issues with length in approach departure angles (something the Hummer is notorious for). However if you know how to drive and have a good spotter, the issues are far less than people think... especially if you have a winch.

H2 isn't the same as the HMMWV. H2 was built on Suburban/Tahoe, H1 was built on the HMMWV. And to call it better would be a shame. It is good, but not meant for trails like this, too wide.
@Dwealdric
@Dwealdric 9 жыл бұрын
Manjit Singh The H2 was not a civilian version of the HMMWV. The H2 was built from the ground up to be a civilian vehicle, and is on the chassis of a Chevy Tahoe. The H2 is also pretty garbage off road. The H3 Alpha was pretty good though.
@KnightShadey
@KnightShadey 9 жыл бұрын
Dwealdric It shares frame component with the Suburban, not the Tahoe, and that's front and back, while the middle is custom hydroformed only made for AM General for the H2s, it's not like it was simply putting a different body on an existing frame, especially since the Suburban components were from two different Suburban chassis (HD2500 / 1500). However, while they aren't garbage off-road, especially if the trail in the video were the gauge, they definitely aren't at the top of the list either, due to their weight & dimensions. If they were still being made, I'd saying they'd be lucky to be at the bottom end of a top 10.
@Dwealdric

You might want to consider testing a Dodge Power Wagon. Front and rear lockers, disconnecting sway bar and Warn winch from the factory. Oh yeah, and a Hemi. I just traded mine in for a Rubi, because I wanted something smaller and better MPG's. A Raptor is for hauling azz over dunes a Power Wagon is for off roading. With the winch stock from the factory, I say it is the most off road worthy vehicle you can buy off the show room floor.

Eduardo Herrera esp with ported King Shocks...but I think the Land Cruiser is better suited against the Raptor.

i would hardly call that OFF ROAD, but any way the wrangler does wipe the floor with most other makes when it comes to the dirty stuff, its what they where made for.

it should be ford raptor vs ram runner , i really wanna see who they will in this type of challenge both have nearly the same off-road kits & they are both 1500 class .
@pchamberlain

mohammadkwt the ram runner was never built as a production vehicle. Only a handful exist and all of those were crammed full of aftermarket parts. the raptor was built on the same production lines as the other f150s.

pchamberlain yeah mopar have the body kits for but still they are very off-road capable trucks , but why i don't see ram runner off-road videos instead of baja race ? i know it can do something .

Do it do a rematch that would be cool cause I bet the raptor could easily beat the jeep on a wider trail

The issue with this.. is... well... when going off road... you cant be afraid of scratch's. For this to be a proper match, the raptor would have had to plow through the bush and tree (which it would have) and then see if it could make it down. It would have been different if the Truck was not able to go through, due to the tree its self in the way.

Kody Lowe well you surely don't want to scratch something worth 60 grand that doesn't belong to you,but yeah,you are right,for a truly fair comparison they should have gone wild

This was a "cute" looking trail. The key word here is capability. The jeep out classes any vehicle made regarding capability. The jeep can ALSO handle desert racing. Ever heard of Jeep speed?? The raptor can NOT rock crawl due to its wheel base and width. JEEP WINS!
