It's sorta sad that a brand new company (Rivian) has the best ev truck available right now. A bunch of tech nerds beating out a company that has been around for over a century. That applies with Tesla as well. They basically just threw out all the "common knowledge" and started over. I'm honestly happy to see it. Sorta hope Hyundia takes over as well. On my truck in its first year of ownership, The wood door trim doesn't fit, the door leaks in heavy rain, the driver's side wheel bearing is already failing/noisy, the heated seats failed almost right away and GMC lacks the "chip modules" to fix them. ohh also buttons for my multi-fold tailgate failed so I couldn't open my bed from outside... iv never had anything against GM but they certainly seem to be lacking quality control, especially when i compare them to my co-worker's Fords that have SO FAR been flawless.

By 11:45 I had seen all I needed to see about a stock Hummer EV's off-road capability. I was disappointed that the extract mode's considerable ride height mode does not include individual corner height control. I will wait for the third party aftermarket integrators to solve the tire/rim/lift limitation to consider this SUV a true off-roader. Right now it LOOKS off-road, but does not PERFORM off-road.

This is the second video I have watched with EV vehicles going off road. Notice at the gate keeper that 1 rear tire was spinning but not the other. This was the problem. The motor control software does not simulate a "locked rear diff" action with the two rear motors. Since it didn't spin both rear tires at the same time, it's a failure and will only get you stuck.

Thanks for an amazing and difficult experience. Kudos to Tommy for his off-road driving skill; he’s the best. I could be wrong, but didn’t I hear Tommy say (toward the end of the video) that he didn’t have the shifter in “low” all the way up. That would make sense why his throttle modulation was so wonky. 27:09, and 17:46 they should drive the Bronco up in “D” and see what it does. Same thing with my kids R/C car, when it is in high the throttle is jumpy. When in low, it responds much slower and controlled. Also, it makes sense that the dash says that “automatic leveling” is not available, when the suspension is maxed on a 25 degree slope. Leveling means to level. 8:46. And any vehicle that gets high centered on a boulder is going to lose traction and get stuck. The Hummer is amazing. The rear street buggy guy knew what to to. Great very video. You guys should get an award for cinematography.

I love that you guys take these vehicles where they are actually worked and tested. In my opinion, the HummerEV is NOT the ultimate off roader at all. The bronco and wrangler rubicon will always do better than the hummer due to the size and weight. I'm pretty disappointed that the Hummer had all of the electronic bugs and failure to engage lockers etc... The lockers in the Hummer don't seem to be a true locker like the wrangler and bronco are equipped with. I think the HummerEV is about as off road worthy as the power wagon - has all the gadgets and the power to do heavy trails but the limit will always be the size and weight. If Hummer was smart they'd make something the size of the H3.

The Bronco keeps growing on me more and more. The vehicles are just so different, and almost purpose built. GM can scream offroad capability all they want, but the Hummer will never compare to the Bronco on rough terrain like you guys were on -> weight, width, COG, and even ease/reliability of systems. 20:11, perfect example of what actual locking diffs can do, that you can't exactly do with a fake locking diff that works by driving two electric motors at the same speed. The hummer makes it through that just fine still, but a normal jeep, engine replaced with an electric motor, is what a perfect electric off roader would be, and RC crawlers are the best example of this, especially insane stuff like MOA Comp crawlers that have a motor for the front axle, and one for the rear axle, but not one motor per wheel.
