A 2-door version on the frame of the Wrangler Unlimited, where everything behind the front doors is just bed would be cool, too.

I'm not a hater, wife and I have 2 Jeeps. 2017 wrangler winter edition. This is loaded and sticker was 44,600. Also have a 1998 wrangler, this is a project vehicle.Salesman told me the gladiator would start in 50's. I went online and built me a decked out Tacoma and Colorado. Tacoma 42,000, Colorado 46 grand. My main complaint is Greed. I hope Ford Bronco is more reasonable.

Can you take the top off? Do they have the same features? Do they have the same towing capacities? Besides, if money is your main issue... buying new is NEVER the way to go. All new vehicles lose approx. 25% of their value as soon as you drive off the lot.

Ok both your comments throw me off. Jeep Wranglers dance with the Tacoma for #1 in lowest depreciation. Seems like even high mileage Rubicons are hardly cheap. If you got a great deal, awesome! I guess since this is a "truck" it may depreciate at a different rate from the Wranglers. I'm still watching the vid so forgive me if I'm missing something. On my chillznax KZbin account I posted a video of the"Auto Show", you know the ones we pay for that are basically walking around the dealer lot but inside. I don't know why I pay for it. Anyway, near the end of the video I show the Gladiator and talk about it VS the Ranger. The Ranger had people swarming all over it, the Gladiator not at all. Blew me away. Why are people so enamored over that Ranger!!!? I'm with both of you, I want a Jeep.
@rich1958
@rich1958 5 жыл бұрын
Jeeps retain their value to well to get a deal. Unless you buy it privates off desperate owner. Dealers don't negotiate too much on Wranglers. I see the Gladiator going for above MSRP for a while. That said, I wouldn't buy one until next year. Like all new models of all cars/trucks, there is always the intentional for some tweaking and/or issues.

Why is everyone trying so hard to prove this thing can go off road? It's a Jeep that's built with mostly JL parts on the chassis so of course it will go off road, with less break over angle due to the length. I want them to prove that this thing can do truck stuff. That's how they will sell me on it. I don't just want another Jeep with a bed

Ive been following the media closely regarding the Gladiator. The biggest critique I see, is the price (im guessing the estimates are fair, but we have no real info yet). Something to remember when asking who would buy it, would be that a lot of jeep buyers prefer overlanding to pure rock crawling. This will probably be a top contender in that segment. A truck with real offroad credibility, and enough space to haul the family and all the gear for long trips. Plus its this massive thing that wont fit through tight trails. Very niche, I know, but def a winner

I bought a brand new 92 YJ after coming back from Operation Desert Storm and it's been my daily driver for the past 27 years. My wife was taken to the hospital to deliver my first born in it, I taught him to drive in it and I managed to keep it through 2 divorces and survived 4 more deployments to come to it. Sadly, I think it's time to buy a new Jeep for the next 25 years. The gladiator has my interest.

I really love the look of this truck but 3 things really worry me about it. 1. I actually got to sit in this (and the new Ford Ranger) and ergonomically I think drivers are going to be less comfortable in a Gladiator. I didn’t get to drive it but it just seemed weird to me. Maybe it was bad seat adjustments but it instantly turned me off. 2. Usability and wind noise. Jeeps are notorious for being less useful than their competitors when it comes to daily driving. Specifically comfort, reliability, and wind noise levels are rated very poorly. Is the hard top (not even going to ask about the soft top) doing enough to quiet the ride? 3. Price, with the standard jeep easily getting into territory higher than a top line Taco, Ranger, & Ridgeline how much more would someone need to dish out for a comparably built Gladiator? (I guess we’ll all find out very soon). Awesome video, keep it up! With the manual and a lift kit I think this thing would be perfect for off road camping adventures.

I wouldn't call the 3.6L a "dog". My JL Wrangler with 2.5" lift and 35" mud tires does 0-60 in 6.9 seconds according to the dash timer. The engine has plenty of power and the torque curve is surprisingly flat if you look at a dyno sheet. Torque comes on quick and stays for a long time. PLUS let's not forget that the JL/JT models have the 850RE transmission with the 4.71 first gear, so getting off the line with a trailer isn't an issue.

Man I had been saving up for a new 4x4 or AWD vehicle for nearly a year, was planning on a Outlander V6 GT or a Frontier 4x4 until I saw this coming out. Holy GAWD I wanted this so BAD a convertible 4x4 pickup based on the Jeep!!! But some things happened in the family, and I ended up buying a new leftover 2018 Ram Promaster full size high roof cargo van WTF!? Part time Handicap van, part time pickup truck, and part time camp in the thing because why not! So far no regrets this huge van is so unlike anything I've owned in the past, and I've had tons of used and a couple new Pickup's over the last 19 years of driving. Promaster vs NV vs Transit vs Sprinter vs Dinosaur Express on the Ike Gauntlet. DO IT, Make it happen! My money is on the AWD Sprinter and AWD Transit 2020 to kick ass.

Even though it's not for me, I would never bash someone for buying it... but wish the Gladiator came out as a separate Jeep brand vehicle/platform instead of just another Wrangler configuration which in reality is what it is. I find mainstreaming and widening the target audience on a specifically purposed vehicle takes away from it over each remodel. I bought a 2019 Rubicon JL (two door) just before Christmas and don't get me wrong, I love my new Jeep. But after having a couple of TJ's, a YJ and been in (not owned) a couple of CJ's over the years, this new one kind of lacks some of that "Jeep" feeling. It's the JK's advance into the off road capable, four door, family friendly SUV segment that I really feel shining through in the JL. With the Gladiator, or JL truck... I'm curious what else from that original jeep feel we'll end up loosing in future cues or updates. I personally believe that the next Wrangler model (how ever long it takes to get there) just might see a lack of a two door model all together. If you believe that would never happen, just look at single cab trucks and what happened to them. Not to mention back when new TJ's were still scattering the car lots, I'm sure you would have laughed at the thought of soccer moms taking their kids to school in four door family jeeps.
