I guess since this is a "truck" it may depreciate at a different rate from the Wranglers. I'm still watching the vid so forgive me if I'm missing something. On my chillznax KZbin account I posted a video of the"Auto Show", you know the ones we pay for that are basically walking around the dealer lot but inside. I don't know why I pay for it. I really love the look of this truck but 3 things really worry me about it. 1. I actually got to sit in this (and the new Ford Ranger) and ergonomically I think drivers are going to be less comfortable in a Gladiator. I didn’t get to drive it but it just seemed weird to me. Maybe it was bad seat adjustments but it instantly turned me off. 2. Usability and wind noise. Jeeps are notorious for being less useful than their competitors when it comes to daily driving. Specifically comfort, reliability, and wind noise levels are rated very poorly. Is the hard top (not even going to ask about the soft top) doing enough to quiet the ride? 3. Price, with the standard jeep easily getting into territory higher than a top line Taco, Ranger, & Ridgeline how much more would someone need to dish out for a comparably built Gladiator? (I guess we’ll all find out very soon). Awesome video, keep it up! With the manual and a lift kit I think this thing would be perfect for off road camping adventures.

Ever since the JK's they made taking off the doors useless. The mirrors are on the doors so you can't be street legal without the doors. C'mon it's been like 15 years since JK'S came out and they can't engineer a better solution for the JL with a bed... I mean Gladiator.

Hey the mirror thing depends on the state. Where I’m at you must have one rearward facing mirror that you can see 100’ behind your vehicle with.

You have to remember that the automatic transmission has a torque converter and the manual does not. That is why the crawl ratio is higher on the Manual. Manual transmissions are fun, but for serious off-roading an automatic is always better. I love the Gladiator and am excited for them to come out! I know people will do like they do with the JL and put a lift and big tires on them! Maybe I could convince my company to change my work truck to a Gladiator....

I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion but I would love to see one of these or a Wrangler in electric. Batteries can now give 300 + miles of range plus would be sweet to have all that low end torque and silent operation. Plus I wouldn't have to eat it for daily driving MPGs.

Even though it's not for me, I would never bash someone for buying it... but wish the Gladiator came out as a separate Jeep brand vehicle/platform instead of just another Wrangler configuration which in reality is what it is. I find mainstreaming and widening the target audience on a specifically purposed vehicle takes away from it over each remodel. I bought a 2019 Rubicon JL (two door) just before Christmas and don't get me wrong, I love my new Jeep. But after having a couple of TJ's, a YJ and been in (not owned) a couple of CJ's over the years, this new one kind of lacks some of that "Jeep" feeling. It's the JK's advance into the off road capable, four door, family friendly SUV segment that I really feel shining through in the JL. With the Gladiator, or JL truck... I'm curious what else from that original jeep feel we'll end up loosing in future cues or updates. I personally believe that the next Wrangler model (how ever long it takes to get there) just might see a lack of a two door model all together. If you believe that would never happen, just look at single cab trucks and what happened to them. Not to mention back when new TJ's were still scattering the car lots, I'm sure you would have laughed at the thought of soccer moms taking their kids to school in four door family jeeps.

Man I had been saving up for a new 4x4 or AWD vehicle for nearly a year, was planning on a Outlander V6 GT or a Frontier 4x4 until I saw this coming out. Holy GAWD I wanted this so BAD a convertible 4x4 pickup based on the Jeep!!! But some things happened in the family, and I ended up buying a new leftover 2018 Ram Promaster full size high roof cargo van WTF!? Part time Handicap van, part time pickup truck, and part time camp in the thing because why not! So far no regrets this huge van is so unlike anything I've owned in the past, and I've had tons of used and a couple new Pickup's over the last 19 years of driving. Promaster vs NV vs Transit vs Sprinter vs Dinosaur Express on the Ike Gauntlet. DO IT, Make it happen! My money is on the AWD Sprinter and AWD Transit 2020 to kick ass.

I’m definitely buying one of these. The break over will be better with a set of 37” tires on and it will actually go through the amazing trails here in Colorado. A full-size is too wide otherwise I’d have one. The diesel will be perfect for the big tires. It won’t come with a manual with the diesel but i’m ok with that if it means over 400 foot pounds of torque for those big ass tires.

@darcyjousset66155 жыл бұрын
depends on your needs. I can think of many times having a capable truck like that would have saved me a few hours of digging out in a field. My issue is its just a 1/4 ton if it was a 1 ton with that kind of off road capability I would be a great farm truck. even as a1/4 ton it would still be useful on a farm. Where i live too the oil and gas industry is out main industry and Alberta has some rough terrain to get to a lot of the rig sites. A lot of us have to get 1 ton trucks with lift kits and some MT tires just to get to the rig camp. getting stuck on those lease roads is a big no no as it causes delays and cost a company millions. so they wont even let people with out a 4x4 on them these days.
@TheVikingSailor5 жыл бұрын
The issue is Jeeps being over priced in General. You can get a very capable midsize 4x4 truck for way less than this. You are paying for the emblem on the front and it's status. If you need a truck get a truck, but showing up to the walmart in your Tacoma for the meet and greet just doesn't have the same effect as it does in a Jeep. 99% of the people with the money to buy this thing will never come close to using it's capability. Perfect example is the Raptor. I honestly think a 2dr extended cab version of this makes way more sense. We will see.

Roman- I was wondering why the increase in towing when gladiator has so much in common with wrangler. Thank you for explaining that.
@pablomax30455 жыл бұрын
Definitely a cool "lifestyle" truck. I know that the coil springs make for better offroading, but for towing.. they really suck. The Nissan Nivara has the same issue. They fitted that with dual rate springs, but it doesn't help. I guess this wrangler is more for things like popping your mountain bikes in back and heading off. Maybe a dirtbike. Though, you could also install a good tray system with a rooftop tent for overlanding. Though, the payload is barely better than the JL unlimited Rubicon. Significantly lower than other pickups in the segment.
@74beeper975 жыл бұрын
I like it besides the lack of power and the odd shape of the rear doors which are obviously just taken right from the Unlimited....
@74beeper975 жыл бұрын
Actually there is no point. The door is shaped like that to clear the rear wheel arch of the shorter wheel base, Unlimited. There is no need to have the door shaped like that besides a financial need. I understand their reasoning for it, but it makes it look like they took an unlimited and threw a pickup box on it.
