I rented a 2025:Ram Rebel from Enterprise recently for a 1,000 mile road trip. I absolutely loved it! I was super impressed by the Twin Turbo Hurricane In-Line 6. I was thinking it was going to be a disappointment compared to the legendary Hemi. Instead, I found it to be remarkably smooth with great linear acceleration and - due to the dual turbos - zero turbo lag. I did not time it but I think 0-60 was in the low 5's. Very smooth,.quiet, comfortable ride. However, with all the Tech and the new Hurricane engine, I would recommend Extended Warranty if purchasing (vs Lease). Otherwise two thumbs up 👍

Meanwhile all us 3.5L Ecoboost folks have been disappointed with the Hemi since 2011 🤣 I have had many many Ram 1500 hemi rentals and they were always very nice, except for the fact that I would never have gotten rid of my Ecoboost for the hemi. I tow in the western US at high elevations and the Ecoboost is just so much stronger. Now that they have the Hurricane, the Ram is probably my top choice on paper.

Ha! 😂 Yes - pretty much anything from Stellantis has a crappy reputation for reliability. I did look carefully at how they put the engine together. It does seems like it's well built (the Hurricane I6). But of course, just out of the wrapper does not translate to long-term reliability. I can only hope that they got it right this time. I would avoid the transfer case with the "auto-4wd" feature (borg-warner 44-44). I have one and it's a computer controlled clutch pack instead of a gears and a chain. I lost a wheel speed sensor in a snowstorm so the computer would not allow the truck into 4wd because of the traction-control/ESC system. There was no way to override it. Also the bw 44-44 clutch-based xfer case can overheat and then the computer disables 4wd. No good for serious off-road use. Ram really should not have put it in a truck targeted for off-road use.

Nothing will EVER replace good normally aspirated V8’s. Go hug a tree and get over yourself.
@kuhndog-11962 ай бұрын
@TeamHeat604 for most folks it's about simplicity. Of course they stress test these engines. Why would you bring that up? Metallurgy? I sure hope they put some thought into that when designing an engine. The way I see it, if they had so much faith in these engines they should come with a 100k warranty. Cummins does. They stand behind that platform. Plain and simple they are ment to go 30k without major issues. That's not just the hurricane but just about every engine from every manufacturer. My specific concerns with the hurricane come down to complexity of operation. Electric water pump is a big one. Dodge is well known for solid electrical systems right? I'm a mopar guy and they have literally always had issues with electrical. This engine increases failure points dramatically due to the twin turbo design. Every hose clamp, fitting, nut, and bolt strapped to this thing is a failure point. It's not that difficult of a thing to comprehend. 3.0L of displacement pushing 400 hp in the SO engine. That's a lot of power to crank out which means it's creating really high cylinder pressure meaning increased likelihood of failed head gaskets. Turbo failure. Leaks. Warped heads. High pressure pump failure. It's enough to make a lot of people step back and say they don't want the headache. These engines have already shown cooling system issues in the wagoneers. That's a simple explanation of what a lot of folks are thinking.
@alex3610va2 ай бұрын
@@rickyc3020 purely anecdotal evidence here, but all my friends that have eco-boosts that have had engine issues all had cam phaser problems. None have killed a turbo yet (don't get me wrong, I know this happens as well) but by and large Ford's issue seems largely to do with a poor design around the variable cam timing system on an otherwise pretty stout engine. I'm in a hemi Ram currently but I have no real loyalty these days. I'm watching the Hurricane motors and *so far* they seem pretty decent. They've been in the Wagoneers for some time now (despite the other massive quality issues those trucks have). The bigger problem I have is getting over the cost of a new Ram Limited vs what I paid for my 2019. Ho li fuk.

The red RAM Rabel reminds me a little bit at the Power Wagon..😅 The Warlock in gray would not look bag. Especially with a chrome grill (only the grill). Also the cloth seats are nice. But some non-pianoblack style elements in the interior would be even nicer. So out of these 3.. hmm.. I would calculate between the Rebel and the Warlock. And if the dealer could switch the grill and we could find some interior options, I would take the Warlock.

Need to see 6 seaters in more cars. No need to have 3 rows so you can get the vehicle you want out of a truck even with a big family or 3 couples

Yep. Nice wheels. I agree….. shoulda kept the V8 as an option. Prices….. outrageous, but I believe they are all that way. Where Stellantis falls way short, IMHO, is how they treat the dealers and customers with ordering. I tried to order a new Jeep in March….. 7 dealers, 3 states, no dealer would order what I spec’d out. Got a Bronco ordered, delivered in 7 weeks, and about $20K less than the average Jeep on the lot….. when your budget is $47K, and Jeep tries to sway you with a $5000 discount from $65k….. no a great deal.

I rented a Ram with the 12 inch screen a little while ago, the rear view camera damn near blinded me when it switched on, who designed that mess, and why haven’t they fixed that yet?
@TJY2K2 ай бұрын
You probably had the dimmer switch turned up too high.
@josephwhiskeybeale2 ай бұрын
@@TJY2Kthe dimmer switch doesn’t effect the white screen surrounding the reverse camera, supposedly it’s a top complaint Ram owners have about the 12 inch screen.

Great info Andre, thanks. However, I think the payload on the Warlock & Rebel is horrible for a full size truck. There are midsize trucks with the same or better payload (Colorado, Ranger - Raptor even). Ram literature says 3.0L with 5’7” crew cab & 4x4 has payload of 1890; so that means the options on this Rebel accounted for 500 lbs? At the end of the day not much more payload than a Wrangler Rubicon. That sucks considering it has so much more potential for an overland build due to the bed.

As Andre pointed out in a previous video, RAM hasn't sold well as of late and that started under the watch of the 5.7. Right now they are blowing out the competition on prices. We just got a SO Big Horn at $17k off MSRP. Mid 40s! It will dust off the 5.7 and all of its competitors with towing thrust and acceleration. Typical nice RAM interior. I've read of a few bugs but that's typical of all brand new engines. Ours runs smooth as silk and although I believe it will prove to be robust, with that discount we were able to get a great extended warranty. Once Stellantis gets its head out of its rear, these things will rebound the RAM brand sales wise.

I think the Warlock color wise looks the best out of all three trucks but it's the lack of the V8 sound which would probably make me buy a 2024.

Did Stellantis ever say how many fewer carbon credits they project to buy with the hurricane engines vs the Hemi engines?

Was considering RHO but bought a 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor. Best designed truck ever! People simply talk about the RHO's higher HP, which is true, but it is basically same on torque. And by the time you add all the options that come standard in base Raptor, RHO is way more expensive. So it is incorrect to say RHO is better value. Finally, Raptor looks much more bad ass.

Is the Wiring harness to short in the RHO? Are they still using the plastic Thermostat in the RHO engine?

My warlock was $ 43,000 in 2021 and it was well equipped with the limited slip , inch factory lift , upgraded Radiator, 3.92 diff and other interior goodies but it did not have lockers ,no rear passenger ventilation, , no brake controler , no all terrain tires , only offered in QuadCab configuration so I think the newer Warlocks as long as they’re under 50000 it’s an OK 👌🏻 deal , my first Ram was a 2017 1500 Express and it was $33,000 wth happened to those prices !!!

I can’t get over these prices… I just got rid of my 17 Laramie and bought a used 21 accord… I’ll get a cheap old ranger or something. Even used 5th gen’s are outrageous how can you expect someone to pay realistically 60-70k for a truck with at the very least leather seats without financing! The days of the average American paying cash for cars let alone trucks are over and it’s for no good reason

Same, but RHO with a tune could push into 800hp range. It'll will be interesting to see how the aftermarket responds.
@Hemibuck952 ай бұрын
@Group.B the transmission is not the same as the TRX, so it won't last with that much boost. So, it would also need an upgraded transmission for that high of power.

It appears Warlock is replacing the Offroad pkg. My 2019 Bighorn Offroad has 4wd Auto and rear locker and a sweet sounding Flowmaster Outlaw extreme exhaust out of the 5.7 and 6'4" bed. of which none are offered now.

Wasn't the RHO meant to compete with the Raptor now, and not as a new TRX?

It was always to fill the gap since the TRX was going away. No word on if an official TRX replacement is in the works. Could be a Hurricane 6/Hybrid setup. But the RHO is not the official TRX replacement
