I know, their reactions to the sheer scale of the blast across the surface of the earth at 8:47, especially the guy seeing it for the first time, it's truly an awesome scene. You just don't get scale or presentation of sheer power like that these days in dragon ball super, they're all massively powerful but we never get to really see or feel it now.

And Toriyama confirmed it is the single strongest attack in the entire arc, even stronger than any of the Kamehameha attacks Gohan or Cell use in their face-off. Considering that most of the biggest attacks in the Buu arc are mostly planet-busting, there is an argument to be mounted that Vegeta's Final Flash here is the strongest single attack in all of Z until Goku's Spirit Bomb against Kid Buu.

As the series progressed we really got to see Calvin grow as a character. From starting out knowing nothing about DBZ to being able to predict Cell Piccoloing his arm back; he was an excellent narrative device that showed us how DBZA not only parodies, but also respects the original source material enough that a newcomer can be made to love DBZ just by watching the abridged series.

This is great to see somebody who hasn't seen DBZ be so into the abridged version. The Abridged version did wonders with cutting down the time needed to see all the major plot points of DBZ. Anybody who has watched the real fight between Goku and Frieza in the funimation days will appreciate that Goku fought Frieza in two episodes, not 27.

If I may correct, the reason Gohan goes super sayian is because he actually snaps at Goku. He says that Piccolo should've come in the room with him because Goku is going to easy on him. At which point Goku revs up to super sayian and fires a Kamehameha at him, which Gohan tries to take on and when he realizes he WILL die because he cannot push it back, he goes Super. Just a minor detail :3

Main trigger though is well represented here too. And they focusing on *THIS* trigger pays off later on. Gohan realizes all his life he's been always been defended by others, because he's never been strong on his own to stand by himself, and that he's always been afraid to step up to fight and protect others. That's what triggers the snap point that releases his SSJ form: anger towards himself for not being neither brave nor strong enough , not living up to everyone else's expectations and needing others to take massive blows to protect him while never returning the favor. In the original essentially what triggers his SSJ form is a direct threat for his life instead (which also is part of what happens here of course). Not that he hates being a coward and not being strong enough to defend others. Which means his motivation is a lot less epic too. Also this is solid from the argument point of view, as later on that's exactly the same motivation for Gohan to achieve his SSJ2 transformation (talking about the abridged series here). 16's dressing down telling him he's being a coward, that all his life he's been protected by others and that now that it's his time to protect them back, he's just crying on a corner instead connects directly with what caused him to become a SSJ in the first place, and of course results in him snapping out of his fear and becoming unstoppable. It's the same motivation that made him jump to SSJ in the first place. And, again, I think that it really works better than the original version.

The thing with Super Saiyan is that it was treated as a legendary mythical transformation because it's never been seen in thousands of years, but back then it was mostly just a battle form of the Saiyans. It was something that was much easier to attain back then. When they got more violent and aggressive, their ability to become SS became diminished and less and less Saiyans believed it even existed. This pretty much made it fade into legend.

There is one fact about Piccolo's cells in Cell that people kind of forgot. When Piccolo regenerates he loses TONS of energy, and it weakens him, but when Cells regenerate because he has Sayans cells he comes back stronger than before.

I've been watching a couple of these videos, and I gotta say that the guy on the far left (wearing the I am an adult T-shirt) is super nerdy! I'd recomend that you watch the following abridged series Hellsing Ultimate Abridged: Another work by TFS. Released once a year since 2010 (Moving to two a year this year) Hellsing Ultimate abridged is basically a yearly halloween special for TFS. Be warned, there is more black comedy in this one than in DBZ. Currently has 6 episodes Final Fantasy Machinabridged: The third work by Teamfourstar. This is an abridging of the game Final Fantasy 7. It currently has ten episodes, and is in the off season YuGiOh Abridged: The OG Abridged series, as in literally the first abridged series ever made. As such, the earlier episodes are a bit rough, but it's not every day you can see a genre be invented

The cool thing is that Toriyama himself said that the Final Flash is the second strongest attack , second only to the Genkidama (or Spirit Bomb). Vegeta, even if he's beated by all the most important characters, see Frieza kills him, Cell rape him, and Bu... he litterally Isis himself (its a joke, dont take it seriously), hes still the second most powerful character in all DBZ, beside Gohan that surpass him for a bit thanks to Kaioshin, but he later loses that power (see Super/Battle of Gods and after). i love Vegeta character, the coolest one. This being said, i wanna some reference to Broly when Trunks powers himself up.

So I know you guys who grew up watching DBZ in the US have a hard on for the Falconer music (like I used to) but you owe it to yourself to watch it with the original Japanese music, I accidentally switched it while watching the remastered DVD's and it was incredible. Now just to be clear I don't mean watching it in Japanese with the subtitles there should be an option to play the American voice acting version with the original Japanese music, nothing against the Falconer music but it's always playing there's never a moment in the show where the music isn't playing whereas the Japanese music really helps set the tone but also sometimes doesn't play at all so all you hear is the sound effects of the fighting......... which is AMAZING.

Bardock actually is the "legend" , remember how he traveled back in time in his not canon episode. So Super Saiyan is only Bardock and the generations after him
