I've been in Thailand and had dinner with Thai people in outdoor restaurants where they used this Hot Pot. It was standing on the table and everyone can dip some small raw vegetables, prawns, and meat in it.

This 'hot pot' reminds me of Fondue , which is a Swiss thing . The Fondue can be quite small and can be used to hold oil to cook in or sauces , cheese and chocolate come to mind , but your hot pot seems suited to larger , wetter , stew type meals . I remember being invited with my girl friend to an adult birthday ( not that kind of adult party , naughty ) party at a hotel in a huge room . There was a band and dancing . At the table each couple had their own fondue burner heating oil . Meat strips and cut vegetables could be cooked as each couple liked , when they liked , so you could talk , dance and eat whenever you choose . Quite posh and an extremely good party idea . But Fondue would be good in the woods or on a beach too ! Look it up . I do like this hot pot though , It would be quite easy to cook this way , no fuss and multi fuel choice . Ta

You cooked everything then used this as a serving vessel. This pot is actually used to COOK the food, not just serve it. Charcoal in center is correct. Fill basin with a broth or hot pot soup. Needs to be HOT. Have side dishes with a variety of UNCOOKED meats, fish, veggies, etc. Guests select their options, place it in the hot broth and wait for it to cook. Serve on rice or noodles and have a variety of Asian sauces. It's a FUN, very interactive dinner party as everyone cooks and their own food.

I got a vintage one of these hot pots today. Did you use metho in the little pot underneath? And then you added heat beads in the chimney part?

Hi, great question. I added hot charcoal in the chimney. It is something I need to experiment with more. I am new to hot pots saw a video of these being served up with hot coals so copied it.

@@InfoZhedExplore aha ! Me too, I only just got mine yesterday. I had no idea what it was or how to use it, thought it was some kind of metho burning stove. I’ll get some bbq charcoal and test her out! Thanks for the reply. I’ll watch your video again. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
