The narrator's love for this unit was palpable in this video. Perhaps this is just a 'me' thing, but when I'm assembling a new model, I like to have the finished models it will be serving with close by. Not so much for practical reasons, but because I like to imagine them defending a forge world, where their new war gear is being constructed.

I appreciated the crack at current Imperial naming conventions. I like to think that all of the name changes and new unit introductions are canon. Something about Perturabo sitting there, baffled, trying to figure out why all the space marine tanks suddenly have heavy stubbers or what the intercessors are supposed to be intercessing is hilarious to me.

My head cannon is that the servo-skull that is baldermort was a brave mechanicum magos that called in a thanatar plasma mortar strike on himself to win the day. Later was turned into a skull when the corpse was found so that he can continue serving the imperium like a story telling hero

Man, I do love your work - I need to dedicate some time to catching up though, Patreon too! The Thanatar is also my fav 30k pattern (still awaiting an Arlatax as they sound HORRIFIC) and I'm fortunate enough to own two; one of each pattern. I must humbly point out though that they're roughly the same size as a Leviathan with the mortar adding the height to tip it. I was pouring over my ancient copy of the Rogue Trader Compendium earlier today to get notes for my own YT channel, it looks like the Thanatar (Cavas/basic) is FW's evolution of the 35 year old Colossus siege robot which could take a siege hammer, autocannon & meltagun and the Calix pattern evolved from the Conqueror heavy robot which could be kitted with a lascannon, siege hammer & autocannon. We need to get that vid up ASAP before that sneaky Jordan Sorcery beats us to it! lol

Horrifically overpriced. The models shouldn't cost anymore than army men. They're mass produced the exact same way using an injection mould. They cost pennies to produce and are then sold at a markup of tens of thousands of percent.
