For Barry I think it has to do with not making something pretentious with a cloud egg, poached egg, or avocado even when he really wants to. And for Mike controlling his panic and increasing his productivity needs a badge!
@Crushingaxe3 жыл бұрын
@@prescottkerr7515 The cloud egg! I think Jaime's getting a bad rap here on second viewing. He tasted the beans, spiced them, and made a conscious decision to add the cabbage as another element. Run the cranberries through a meat grinder (they're better crushed than sliced), drain the canned fruit, reserving the juices. Mix the fruit and celery and sugar, allow to sit in the fridge for an hour to cool and drain the mixture, adding the liquid to your reserve. Mix the nuts into your cold mixture, then make the jello according to package directions. Use your reserved juices for your cold water, and let the jello set in the refrigerator covered overnight to set. It makes a lovely dish with bright tones from the orange and nice crunch from the celery and nuts, and be sure to taste the cranberry/sugar mixture to add more sugar if the mixture is still too tart. I suggest a Pass It On challenge where you have a fully developed wonderful recipe, with the recipe divided into four time sensitive sections. And then each person gets only the part of the recipe that comes AFTER theirs and has to figure out their part from context and leave clues for the next part. The first person gets the first two parts written and the last person gets only what they can see in the kitchen.

As an American from the Southern US, this whole thing was hilarious. The "corn pudding", the cabbage into the green bean "casserole", burnt sugar on the sweet potatoes twice, Barry's panicked face as he's plating up, just...all of it. Except the bacon-wrapped stuffed turkey breast, that was pretty neat. And with the time-crunch, understandably chaotic for a feast that typically takes 4-7 active cooking hours to pull together. But bless your hearts, mates, any Southern mother would whack you out of the kitchen with a wooden spoon if you so much as touched a pan Thanksgiving morning (except for cleaning purposes, great job, Jamie!), but glad it turned out!

Well... To be fair, if you gave any of the 4 an full forenoon to prepare a thanksgiving dinner and let them plan ahead of time, they'd probably come up with something more pleasing. But fact of the matter is they had only 1 hour overall and had to improvise along the way which is not how you'd make any holiday dinner.

Nothing in the way of super recognizable classic Thanksgiving dishes, but all things that look, and by description, sound like they would fit perfectly and be very much welcome. The best part of a good Thanksgiving meal is having the reliable delicious staples that you are eager for every year, and then a bunch of new dishes from friends, family and other guests that give you a new twist on things. It's never the same 2 years in a row if you have enough "cooks in the kitchen" bringing over their takes, and it sounds like that is exactly the magic that happened here. If they had more time, I bet it would have been an incredible turkey day feast.

This is hilarious as always, I love you guys!! A tip from another american (I know you have so many people saying stuff already, but I didn't see this), there are usually so many different dishes and flavors in a thanksgiving feast that its best to keep each element pretty basic and simple, allowing just those main ingredients of each dish shine so that it all comes together into a delicious meal. My favorite is getting a big spoonful of mashed potatoes and gravy, and getting some turkey and cranberry sauce on top in one big bite, those flavors together are something else. Overall fantastic job since you guys have little experience with thanksgiving foods!

American here, and a Thanksgiving host. As far as a Thanksgiving meal goes, this would be a travesty to anyone expecting something traditional. That being said, my Thanksgiving dinner took 8 hours of cooking to prepare, and that was with me flying around the kitchen. There's no way to get it all done in an hour, so that's an impossible constraint. I would have loved to see some mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce, but good attempt considering what you had to work with! Daaang I dunno why eight hours, lol. We had an awesome duck with sides done in less than four. Was my favorite Thanksgiving I'd ever eaten or cooked. I think if I wanted to cheat and do it in an hour, it would be just duck or turkey breasts or legs, and all the sides could still get done (sweet potato, mashed potato, stuffing, green beans, etc) in an hour. I think it's hard, but doable.

If most of you guys have never had Thanksgiving before, I'd love to see you tackle it with all the traditional stuff, because I'd love to see what all of you actually think about a full traditional Thanksgiving. - Turkey - Stuffing - Mashed Potatoes - Turkey Gravy - Corn Casserole (which is a bit of a different thing from what you've done here, and is sort of a hybrid of corn, creamed corn, butter, sour cream, corn bread, and cheese) - Biscuits (the American kind) - Cranberry Sauce - Sweet Potato Casserole (the weird contraption of sweet potatoes, brown sugar, butter, vanilla, pecans, cinnamon, salt, pepper, and marshmallows) - Pumpkin Pie (not Barry's weird....whatever that was) - Pecan Pie - Mac & Cheese - Green Bean Casserole

Where I'm from in Western KY, we use the canned Cranberry sauce, it's not Thanksgiving if there isn't a dish with a can shaped jellied cranberry sitting on it. We don't usually do biscuits but Sister Shubert's rolls and instead of mac & cheese, our family usually does a broccoli-spinach casserole which is frozen chopped broccoli and spinach mixed with cream of mushroom soup and velveeta and topped with french's fried onions then baked.

For those who are not familiar with this, this a place where maple sirup and maple derived products are made during spring. We can go there to eat food made using maple sirop (sugar pie, maple taffy, pouding chômeur, ...) or food that goes well with it (ham, sausage, pancakes, ...). Other food frequently associated with sugar shacks are meat pies and crispy pork rinds.

At my university, we had a institute for US law. They did an amazing thanks giving dinner each year with an American caterer. The absolute highlight was the sweet potato mash. By experimenting, I was able to recreate it at home. The trick is to use basically an ungodly amount of butter ... (also, the addition for us Germans of red cabbage was also amazing in the dinner, but that was really only done to fit into the new home of these Americans xD )

@@shellh929 Nope, the bourbon acts as the spice/flavoring. But of course add whatever you think sounds tasty!
