Linguistically and in what Prophet Muhammad said, the Mushrikeen were those who called on what would be called lesser gods, if they were honest about their lack of monotheism. Ibn Taymiyyah and the Saudis were wrong by accepting the non Islamic way of violence over theological differences. The narrations and verses don't show the shirk of monotheistic religions, but how God's side prays for each other and how those who witness good should be encouraged to.

Majority alhulsunna have no issues with Wasilla ( seeking means) it's the Ibn Taymiyyah followers / Muhammed ibn Wahabi that believe Allah has body parts and attribute limits to Allah , they are minority group that believe Allah floats between the sky and the earth between fajr times, alhulsunna believe Allah is not a body, He exist without a place, He is not likened to the created thing's the end ,

Sunnis are not against it. but Sunni understanding is different and we do not over emphasise it and caution against it as it missapplied. we do not seek assistance from creation. Shiass tend to have personalty worship traits and over rely on it.

And this is exactly the opinion of Ibn Taymiyyah regarding those who did Istighasa. He indeed encouraged those who engage in Tawassul through Istighasa to be killed. For details, please check Jami' al-Masail Vol. 3 pg. 151.

In christianity in church followers of Jesus doing the same things. Then what is the difference between islam and other religions. @meeyakhan2124 you haven't properly understood the meaning of tawassul. Let me explain it to you: 1. Tawassul doesn't mean you're supplicating to the Waseela. It means you're asking the Waseela to supplicate on your behalf. Just like how you may ask someone you know, to keep you in their prayers. 2. Think of it like this. You're an ordinary person. If you pray, your prayers will have an ordinary weightage. But if someone as great as the ahle bait pray for you, then their prayers will have a much higher weightage and hence a much greater chance of Allah accepting it.

Surah anbiya verse 107 says : "We have sent you ˹O Prophet˺ only as a mercy for the whole world." If the prophet was a mercy only to people of his time and can't do anything for us then does it mean the Quran is wrong? Since this concept contradicts the Quran, it can't be true. Actually it's wrong to even call the ahle bait dead. Surah ale imran verse 169 : "Think not of those, who are slain in the way of Allah, as dead. Nay, they are living. With their Lord they have provision." Also the prophet himself taught a dua including the tawassul of himself. In ibn majah 1385, dua : "O Allah, I ask of You and I turn my face towards You by virtue of the intercession of Muhammad the Prophet of mercy. O Muhammad, I have turned to my Lord by virtue of your intercession concerning this need of mine so that it may be met. O Allah, accept his intercession concerning me."
