Job well done, Ethan. And kudos for recognizing the dangerous situation and taking the necessary corrective action before it became even more dangerous. Another great team effort. Ron, you can be very proud of how your son handled this situation. He is definitely becoming a top-notch recovery operator. Stay safe and healthy.

Sorry to hear you are sick Ron. Finally had my surgery after finding out my fall back in April was indeed a 100% tear of the rotator cuff and no hope of healing itself. Got home last night and told my wife to be sure I was awake by 8:00 AM to be one of the first to see the video at 8:00 am on the east coast. Couldn't sleep so I started watching around 4 AM. I was LIKE number 19. I sure understand the getting out of a sick bed to help family! God Bless you and yours Ron!

it brings tears to my eyes and joy to my heart, to see a father come to the aid of a son in need. Ron despite being sick, your son put out the call for help and you responded. This is the definiton of a father. if the dads in America today were like Ron, how much better would our world be. In addition to the matter of Father and on till loving each other enough to work together. Great Job Guys. I tip my hat to you sir Ron, for being the true definiton of a Father and showing the country what it means to be one.

Good job making the call for help. It can be a difficult call to make but it's always the right call. That's an easy situation to overestimate how easy it will pull. It's a compound hill with the unit angled down and to the side away from the wrecker. The only thing that could have made it more difficult is if the unit was loaded, which would have raised the center of gravity and being mostly liquid its moving weight. Got lucky with the truck being empty. With the back end wanting to go sideways, for example, to the driver side, you want to set up so your line is pointing 45-60 degrees to the passenger side. In this case, a low hook redirect with a truck position much further back than where Ethan parked. Turn the front wheels of the unit to point passenger on the line you want. You are pulling the unit around so it's lined up with the slope so you're pulling straight up the hill. You are also taking advantage of the unit already wanting to turn to align with the hill. The tipping hazard reduces the better the unit is aligned with the hill. If it wasn't a compound hill and the back end was down Ethan's position and rigging would have been fine. That is essentially what Ron did when he came onto the job. Your best line is always straight up a hill. That oftentimes will eliminate any side tipping that can lead to a rollover. If you can reposition a unit early to get that, it's best. Otherwise, the unit will try to reposition itself and not always the way you want it. I've gotten that rescue call a few times. Everyone overlooks that slideways wandering rearend once or twice. Sometimes a strap over the top hooked to the low side just for insurance is cheap insurance if you know what I mean.

Sometimes, it takes 2. In this case, 2 50 Ton wreckers are working together to get the job done. I applaud Ethan for recognizing that he needed help to get this truck on the road. The flagship rotator to help hold the back of the vac truck while the new Western Star did the hard work of pulling it on the road. One thing that I probably would have done is double the pulling line may not have been so much tension on the cable. I don't know, just my thoughts is all
