@@mapofthesoultagme7143A "few" traditionally meant around 4 - not 8. I've seen your other replies in the comments section of this video, and frankly they're concerning, and you being ace doesn't change that. I am ALSO a 24 year old asexual, and I understand why it's creepy just fine... To summarize, before someone's 30, a smaller number of years makes a much bigger difference in terms of mental development, because before that point your brain isn't completely finished developing, and the less developed your brain is the easier it is for predators to take advantage of you. Now, since you seem to be having trouble getting this, time for a quick lesson. During childhood, the brain isn't done developing. Around 18-20, most of the brain aside from the frontal lobe - the region in charge of risk assement, emotional regulation, and impulse control - finishes developing. The frontal lobe, on the other hand, isn't dobe until you're 25-30. This, is why teenagers, people in their early twenties, people in their late twenties, and people over 30 tend to behave differently - especially in regards to things under the control of the frontal lobe. Once someone has a fully developed brain, if they want to be in a relationship with someone a decade older than them, it's not that big a deal because their brains are more or less the same developmentally. If someone's frontal lobe isn't finished developing yet though, they aren't on an equal playing feild yet - especially if they're still in the 18-20 range of just barely having the rest of their brain development finished, and it's still a lot easier for older people to take advantage of the fact that they're still young and reckless so to speak, making them easier marks for those with less savory intentions. Not to mention that MOST OF US in our mid 20s still see them as "childlike" even though they're technically adults, and thus would feel weird about seeing them that way. Would I immediately be suspicious of a 22 year old in a relationship with an 18 year old? Depends on the context - if they started dating as soon as they were legal, which is a major red flag that I would find very alarming. If they just happened to meet at school or work or something, that's a lot more reasonable, but still feels odd, so I completely get why many 22 year olds would find the idea of dating someone that young repulsive. (Personally I wouldn't want to date anyone under 20, they're barely even an adult before that point, and might still be developing parts of their brain other than the frontal lobe.)

A lesbian, for instance, isn't suddenly allowed to message a teen boy because of her disinterest in the opposite sex. It remains inappropriate. Please, stop with comments. But she feels even more untouchable than Cody Ko. I guess when you cultivate a fanbase rabid enough to doxx, send death threats, and try to destroy anyone who even breathes light criticism against you(behaviour she has never condemned) you can even get away with grooming.

So even if she is a pathological liar, which is the result of abuse, there's capability of raw honesty, and there's evidence backing her up. The shame and insults that have been thrown at her are unjustified, and her past wrongs dont justify a 25 year old Cody taken advantage of a 17 year old Tana. lets be honest, an online career is the dream job for any pedo that wants to traumatize kids... usually you have a large young audience of children who look up to you and you have a direct line of contact to them. your position gives you authority over them and your fame gives you a wall of protection down the road. like how for years fans have attackes TANA for telling her experience, and not him. its so sad but very real, and we need to start making it MUCH harder for online celebs to meet up with their underage fans alone. I dont even understand why its a thing. I watched pewdiepie since I was like 14, and never in his career did I see him have videos with one of his millions of underage fans. its not that hard to have a large following of kids and not interact with him inappropriately.

Tana saying she doesn't feel traumatized is because she's been forced into silence her whole life. She's downplaying her trauma because she doesn't want to stir the pot but, she still needs to talk about it, clearly. The power imbalance between a 25yo man who is capable of renting a car, getting a credit card, is able to vote & go to bars vs. A child who is still in HIGH SCHOOL, got her license a year ago, and still lives with her parents is so apparent. You can’t really tell someone how they feel or should feel about a situation. As someone who has had a lot of similar experiences to Tana, I understand where she’s coming from. At the time, it felt good. Being noticed and “chosen” by people you look up to. But looking back, it’s not traumatic… it’s disgusting. At the time we didn’t understand why it was happening. Now we do. It doesn’t mean it has to traumatize us, just that it recontextualizes it & we know better now. The best we can do is talk about it & try to help other young people not fall into the same situation.

I'm genuinely so disappointed and disgusted at how well the N word situation and his frat boi bestie situation was hidden, to the point where I only started watching him over the past year or so and thought he was genuinely unproblematic, when in reality he is literally Bo Burnhams character in Promising Young Women! I think D'angelo Wallace was bang on it when he said in his video that it's indicative of a much larger problem on youtube and how commentary has become a "boys club" (I'm not including you in this, you are for the girls and the gays, and I'm so happy you spoke out about this) but the fact its taken this long to blow up is concerning.

And as long as you’re not the kind of fan who believes they TRULY a know their favorite creator, are stalkerish and violate boundaries, there’s no issue. I wish he had used a condom because I barely knew him but I never had PTSD from it or anything, I just felt annoyed and vaguely grossed out. It wasn’t a matter of me having gone through worse- all I had really dealt with to that point was bullying and partners cheating- it was just a matter of me not viewing sex as this big serious thing to begin with. During it I just felt like “ugh, this is boring and annoying”, and after the fact I was just like “wish I didn’t have that body on my body count”. All this to say, just because society deems something generally traumatizing doesn’t mean every victim finds it personally traumatizing, and it doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with past trauma.

Sometimes I hate that the legal age is 18, because 18 is still a TEENAGER. Genuinely, if you are above the age of 22, you should not date or have s*x with someone under 20, I feel like. Like what, if Tana HAD been 18 would it suddenly be ok that Cody, someone almost 8 years older, hooked up with her? No, that's still gross and manipulative!
