As a lifelong Detroit Pistons fan since the 70's it gives me great pleasure that my Bad Boys did Michael Jordan DIRTY during this time period because they were on a mission to become NBA World Champions. They didn't give two $hit's about MJ, he was just an obstacle in the pathway to the Crown. There are no regrets, and definitely no apologies. We take great pride in the fact that our Bad Boys put MJ and his baby bulls out of the playoffs three years in a row, while going to the NBA Finals and representing the Eastern Conference all three years and winning Back-to-Back NBA Worlds Championships at his expense. All those MJ fans love it, eat it, enjoy it, but don't deny it, because the Bad Boys were the best thing going during those days. Bad Boys 4 Life!!

Love listening to your takes. Also one thing this video leaves out is that this was the famous migraine game for Pippen. He scored 2 points, 2 assists and two rebounds. Jordan averaged 32, 7 and 6 for the series and took this team 7 games. I’m taking nothing away from what Detroit did. They had the better team. They knew MJ needed to score 40 to beat them. Scottie averaged 17.2 a game that season and was in year three. So some of the forced shots he was taking wasn’t unwillingness to pass as much as it was knowing he had to score to win. I respect the Pistons up until they started throwing cheap punches. Lambieer even tried to decapitate Bird a couple years earlier.

It's definitely smart, the concept of "Make Jordan beat us 5v1 cause no one else on the bulls can beat us" worked well until Jordans teammates finally developed. Despite all that he still averaged over 30 a game on them. Them and the sonics did the best at slowing him down. 27ppg his worst finals scoring performance in that 96 series.

By the 1991 ECF the Pistons Isiah Thomas, Mark Aguirre, Vinnie Johnson, Bill Laimbeer, and James Edwards all had 10 years or more playing in the NBA. The 1991 ECF was Detroit's fifth in a row, and they had played in the NBA Finals the last three years in a row, which means they had played more basketball than any other team in the NBA during that time. I think MJ was making around $500K per season during the late 80s and around $20M during the 90s. He wasn't making bank like Harden or Lebron and still played 82 games each season and didn't make excuses. Also, fun fact, MJ only played 13 games where he scored less than 10 points. That's out of 1072 games. That's insane.

What few people realize is that the Pistons devised the Jordan Rules for the '88 playoffs because Jordan, over the course of 12 meetings in the 1987 and '88 regular seasons, averaged something like 39 ppg/52% FG against them, including 2 or 3 games of 50+ pts. And this is against two of the best defenders of all time in Rodman and Dumars taking turns on him. Think about that.

That game 7 in 1990 was Pippen’s migraine game. I think Jordan averaged 37 points for his career against the Pistons. But to your point that Rodman could hold MJ to 10 points or under, you’re way off guard. The player who could or could’ve done that hasn’t been born yet or ever will, he would have to be created in a mad scientist’s lab.

Bill Laimbeer saying "they got old" is horse shit. In 1991 when the Bulls won their first title, Joe Dumars was 28, Bill Laimbeer was 34, Rodman was 30, John Salley was 27, ans Isiah was 30. Their entire starting 5 was pretty much in their prime still.

Isiah Thomas, Mark Aguirre, Bill Laimbeer, Vinnie Johnson, Rick Mahorn and James Edwards had all had 10 years or more playing in the NBA when the 1991 ECF started, which was their fifth ECF in a row. Detroit also played in the previous three NBA Finals, which means they played more basketball than any other team in the NBA during that time. It's not an age factor, it's the miles on the tire factor. Those six men had played hundreds of more NBA games at that time than Michael Jordan did, plain and simple. Think before you type...

Remember when Draymond kept getting in trouble during the finals for being too physical, or when he got suspended that one game 5, that's what would have happened. He tried to say that they got old, but only a few players were anywhere close being considered old. Dumars, Thomas, Rodman and several others were two or less years older.

They changed the rules bc all out fights were happening in ALL cities. However, you have to give props to the Pistons for actually forcing Jordan to focus on his weaknesses. Before them, MJ was a ball hog, and was weak going left. If he went on the Paint... he had to pay. Knowing all of this and willing to strengthen his weaknesses, pass more and still drive to the hole, is what led to 6 rings. This happened in 1988. It made MJ a team player. Lebron has never had to deal with this kind of abuse...and play all 82 games. Favorite video! Hand checking 🤣🤣🤣 MJ was jumped literally every time he got near the basket. Oh, and Isaiah Thomas can jump!!!

Plain and simple, the bad boys exploited the wording of the rules to the full extent they could back then, literally to absolute limit of the wording of the rules in the late 80s and early 90s.. then throw in the cheap shots.. Bad boys version of goat rodman was a freak on defence and could slow MJ down alot well 2xDPOY awards makes goat Rodman one of the top 5 defenders of all time due to his flexibility of being a perimeter or paint defender during his bad boys days, bulls he was more of a post up paint defender than a perimeter defender.. Rodman was able draw so many offensive fouls especially charges due to using the rules to his advantage.. Sliding his feet and body into defensive position and staying slightly infront of the player on the court and drew so many charges.. His basketball IQ was off the charts and thats the bulls crazily took him on for the second 3peat IF you look at MJ's average against the Bad boys during the season its 38.5 PPG and in the play offs its 32.8 PPG which is more impressive knowing what he was up against each time MJ played the bad boys.. TO me thats just insanity averaging those numbers against physical defence and cheap shots.. FYI my goat Rodzilla is my goat but I do appreciate greatness when I see it and thats why MJ is the big ole billy GOAT

i like defensive plays, physicality in the 90s games. but when the pistons were giving cheap shots, there's a difference between good defense & hurting someone that could end their career- that's just plain wrong not smart defense. Isiah said they all took turns defending MJ & MJ still averaged 36 or 37+ points against them. Then when the pistons got swept, their excuse was they got old. the pistons inflicted pain on MJ, IT retired BEFORE MJ due to injury... karma.

Too add a little more context, they wouldve won the 90 series, had Pippen not choke on that on his "migraine" He was just scared. And the Pistons were not old. they were exactly in their prime Dumars - 28 Salley - 27 Rodman and Isiah - 30 Aguire - 32 Laimbeer - 34 most of the Bulls before '91 were very weak mentally. Grant and Pippen to ne exact. And the Pistons really messed with Jordan more when they traded their enforcer Oakley for Cartwright. The Pistons talking like they dominated the Bulls with Dave Corzine as the 2nd option fir Jordan. The fact is, the Bulls gave them a run for their money.

No, no, Laimbeer was right, the Pistons were getting old and wasted after 3 consecutive finals, winning 2 (although I count one more because they were robbed against the Lakers)... not only that, before the finals they were reaching conference finals . That's like 5/6 years playing at the higuest level against some of the best teams ever. That's a phenomenal accomplishment, specially considering that squad barely changed, they just traded Arian Dantley for Mark Aguirre. MJ had the luxury of 2 different squads... only Magic's Lakers, during that time, could afford that Laimbeer saying that isn't making excuses or something like that, he said it because those Pistons deserve much more recognition than they historically get. And specially because those Bulls that defeated them, the first 3peat Bulls, weren't as good as the Pistons from 88 to 90, in my opinion. But the narrative is ALL about Michael 🤦‍♂and that's unfair, false and even damaging to the NBA. Like you talking about Lebron... you can't make that comparison you made, it's also unfair and imposible to prove. I'd suggest if you check some Pistons video without focusing on freaking MJ who is everywhere and it's getting really annoying
