Nicholas II of Russia: So let me get this straight. During your un-GODLY embarrassing departure to the Pacific, you met some British fishing boats....then you confuse said boats for Japanese torpedoes, even though the Japanese navy is located in the Pacific, in Asia, not in the North Sea. Then you decided to fire at those boats and then, I quote, "You realize what was going on, and you ran away", only for you to head at the Suez canal, controlled by the British, which you planned to reach, and again, I quote, "Through Gibraltar". Finally, you had the idiotic plan to go to Madagascar and buy dangerous exotic animals which escaped their cages and caused panic in the ships. Oh, and when you finally met the Japanese fleet in Tsushima, you face off against a numerically inferior but technologically superior fleet, and you inflicted minimal casualties to the Japanese, remained unable to support our troops in the Far East, and also you lost, ONE MORE. I QUOTE: "6. OF YOUR 8 BATTLESHIPS!". Zinovy Rozhestvensky: ....Yeeeeeah....pretty much.

torpedo is Latin for numbness, lethargy or an electric ray. The fishing ships could be considered torpedo boats in the sense that they were slow, or that they caught some electric rays in their nets. But that is splitting hairs, hope you found that interesting or entertaining.

The whole journey was hilarious. Admiral R____ despised his two subordinate admirals as " a great empty space" and "manure sack". If what I heard was true, while coaling in Madagascar, sailors bought thousands of cigarettes. These turned out to be laced with opium thereby creating a lot of addicts. They also brought snakes and small crocs aboard who promptly escaped into the hidden recesses of the ships. I don't know if any of this is true but I wish it was. Japan didn't win the battle Russia lost it.

The Japanese destroyed or captured two out of their three fleets though, and the personnel of the third was decimated because of courts-martial related to their mutiny during the war, so once the war had ended, Russian naval power was only equivalent to the infamously navy-ignoring Austria-Hungary.

@@nickvinsable3798 The sale of Alaska occured in 1867 - long before Russia even considered Japan's ambitions to be a problem. This only started happening when both countries started competing over lands in Eastern China.

And? < kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKC1kJ5qfNRsjZo > The idea is that Russia wouldn’t accept anything less than $10 million, but would accept the initial payment of $7.2 million with $2.8 million worth of favors, should the Official Russian government call upon on the United States of America’s discretion (could’ve gone as far as keeping Russian refugees in Alaska, especially in the wake of the 1st World War, but not forcing the USA into sending their troops to aid Russia & such), @@Exodon2020.

I've heard about this incident before. But not heard the finer details. It was probably a lucky thing that the Russian's missed those English fisherman or the latter would've taken more casualties. Nice video.

That's an interesting move, using the silhouette of a modern American Ticonderoga-class cruiser as the template for turn of the century Russian battleships .

note to self, if I ever have a navy, fire the worst 1% of officers every year if I can afford to do so. Even if they get mad and try to go on a rampage, they will be so incompetent no one ends up killed except them.

The Americans did the same thing to Vietnam. The whole Gulf of Tonkin Resolution gave LBJ a war to "Stop Communism" in SE Asia. They barely held on to Korea and then they kicked the hornet's nest in Vietnam.

4:46 should've used droid gunners because they're a even more bad shot remember they can't even hit an escape pod, *an escape pod* and it wasn't even evading the shots

I think that they should've turned back after failing to destroy fishing ships. If you can't hit those, good luck trying to hit an enemy that hits back.

You're about twelve years early. The Tsar was still the ruler of Russia though the war helped to further his decline (not like the Russian monarchy was salvagable by this point anyway). The crew was just overall completely inexperienced, so sailed into international waters incredibly trigger happy. Most hadn't ever set foot aboard a moving vessel let alone sailed into open waters before.
