@@MrSkerpentine You see, the last real SimCity failed, so they just turned it into a mobile game and won't ever release a normal product of that again, especially since the studio behind both simcity and sims got closed down almost 10 years ago now. Also "EA sucks" never had been a joke, it had been an honest statement ever since they closed down the first studio in 2001 (if not prior already) - everytime they just sell one copy less than EA wants them to, or theres a controversy they just close down the studios (unless its one of their Juggernaut franchises, in which case they'll just restructure the studio like 2-4 times before closing them if nothing changes).

Wasn't BuildIt that mobile version of the game that was good at first, but then was overtaken with 100500 extra premium currencies? Played it years ago. If I recall right, the game was best when you could stop at around level 16-18 to stop more premium mechanics from cropping up. Basically the best way was to go for university to open fusion reactor and skip all the unlocks in powerplants tree instead of being locked away with pollution or low output forever just because the game had premium leveling. It took a lot of selling on the market to afford it though. But that is all if the memory is not bettaying me. Hmm, wonder how it's doing nowadays. I kind of gave up at the time where spaceports, mountain resots and beaches were introduced. They still had east part of the city free of premium mechanics so likely dropped a few building there😅 Edit: If I recall the main reason to stop was because you only get like 1-3 special items per day and with more and more premium mechanics in play, you get more and more diversified list of said items. And to expand the city you need solely dozer parts, each time one more then previously. So the optimal play is to stay on the level and grind the size of the city. Then grind the next mechanic that opens up. Because if you'd just level up, item drops would insure that you will never get enough parts of the type you need. Now I remember why it was such a bad problem, if I recall right the game had limited item storage and it needed the same special item "bundles" to expand the storage too. So the moment you opened more mechanics you death spiralled because you were getting less items of a type you needed with limited storage and rising requirements. Now I recall why I quit - I accidentally hit next level and it opened up the mountain resort premium mechanic thus adding 3 more filler items to the pool of random drops. I just couldn't beat it any longer:(

Yes, I played it for a bit and everyone was like, stop once you get to donuts which i think was like 17-20 or something. My biggest gripe with the game is that you can't make good looking cities if you want to play optimally (e.g., cram everything as close to that firestation / police station / hospital as you can. It's fun to give it like 10-20 hours, but don't waste too much time on it. The pacing slows down incredibly as you level up. The challenges and wars can be fun and kept the game interesting for a bit. But it doesn't take too long for it to feel more like a chore than something to enjoy playing.

I played Sim City on Facebook, the game had a mechanic in which you could get Diamonds, the VIP currency for free in a building called "Bank", there were 4 tiers of this, each giving more diamonds proportionally to the waiting time However, the tier 4 bank gave 100 diamonds a day, and had the option to use 50 diamonds to skip the wait time, so you know what I did. A few days later, the game was removed from Facebook.

@@ambiguousamphibian In SNES Sim City, rails were just roads that didn’t cause pollution but cost more for most purposes; this meant that you could alternate between roads and rail with no real consequence. Of course, the majority of buildings just cared about having some kind of road/rail access and didn’t even care if it actually went anywhere, except for residential zones which needed to go to a job building for optimal growth. Some buildings such as police departments didn’t even need road access to function, just to work better, and some like the airport didn’t need it at all for any reason. Fun fact, the Airport and Seaport in that game worked without power, and in fact worked better without it because all power did was cause the airplane/boat to appear that could crash into things. The Seaport also didn’t benefit in any way from being next to water. Really, all those buildings did was promote city growth by at least one of them existing (more did nothing). Funnily enough, the fire department ends up the same way if there are never any fires, and there are never any random fires if you play on Easy (which prevents random disasters) and don’t power your Airport and Seaport so their vehicles never crash. Optimal SNES Sim City looks very weird.
