Excellent as usual, MSG! I had a coach in the past (9 lessons then moved on) that promoted the doorframe drill and bumping the hips. Friend’s coach gave him the same drill. I’d given it some thought again a few months ago and felt like it wasn’t good, so really glad to hear you explain precisely why. Great explanation

Best instruction I’ve ever seen is between 5::37 and 5:45. Imitating that body position and motion is better than the 3000 hours of video on the golf swing I have watched. I have never been able to hit irons solid and I’ll bet this fixes that. Thanks Mr Short Game. Loved the video with you and your daughter playing the points game. The love and closeness really shines. You are a very lucky man!

This was so well presented. I believe posting up is the main reason I cannot transition from tee shot to fairway wood. You can come out of your posture slightly when the ball is teed up but you will top the fairway wood you attempt immediately after that. Thank you and stay healthy!

I love how you hit several shots throughout your videos and include slow-mos as well, very helpful. Too many online instructors talk the whole video and if you're lucky hit one shot at the end.

I've been working on this hip rotation for a while now but actually started exiting too far left with the club. So many variables, good golf is hard. Thanks for this refresher Matt.

Wow! Lots of positive comments for this wonderful tip. It's a great feel drill that worked immediately for me, without a lot of reps. I've been using a similar downswing trigger but this is much better, because it describes a simple feel that is easy to practice. I may not ever have the flexibility, to excel at the drill but just having the motor feel pattern ingrained, seems to be enough, to vastly improve this part of my swing.

I once knew someone who had a hip replacement and the doctor said that if he ran a marathon that it would be the last time he could do it. I guess golf isn’t as demanding on the joints. Titanium implants are a blessing to people suffering a lack of mobility. I hope you are patient getting very active.

New sub... this tip really helped... well at least in the basement since it’s snowing outside, but I was really push swinging instead of rotationally swining my irons. Now making solid contact and am able to drive with lower body more without topping the ball nearly as much. Also my finishing pose looks the way it should after implementing this drill. Very helpful, thanks.

I keep contemplating the idea of maintaining balance in the swing. It made me think that the bottom of the swing is not the beginning of the backswing but just past the ball. I guess it’s natural to feel that the bottom of the swing is where the club is at address of the ball. So that makes me think that my weight should be centered over a spot just beyond the ball. So the balance of the foot work has to be at that spot just beyond the ball. To stand at attention is a very lively feeling. How I would love to get more consistent with my golf shots.

Excellent, timely winter drill. I don’t get the nine thumbs down? What is the thought process against this drill?
@frankcanzanella67533 жыл бұрын
Went golfing today and had many very good shots. But there was a moment when my rotation was off and the ball scooted to the right. I moved my hands ahead of the ball too much. It set up a scenario where m swing was in a state of confusion. I think your idea of rotating the hips can save me from playing foolishly with the position of my hands. Once I hit great shots I begin to feel very creative and get in trouble. It’s difficult to settle down and be repetitive with a good swing. When my hands get too far ahead of the ball I push, fade or simply screw up . I hope your direction can help keep me driving between the lines.

I am watching your videos from France. Ok i see about rotation I tried even often but the matter is when i turn hips quickly and earlier the ball is low and goes to the right I understood the downswing must start fist without any turn of hips and then i turn to finish the swing. Could you explain that ? And thanks for your nice advices

I think in your earlier sim room videos you did not have the TM at the same height as your mat (can’t remember but saw it was raised in this video) but now you do. Did you find you were having some errors when the TM was below your mat? I know there is a margin of error for them, but am curious what made you change?

good vid I'm such a fat piece of doo doo from this lock down and cold weather now my whole swing is gone. I went to range other day and i can't swing my driver with that sweet rotation I had going 3 months ago. I had it so dialed in w a nice and smooth whip working. Now i'm at the range n My butt muscles are burning after 10 swings and i end up leaving the range all pissed off because I look like a scrub again. If anyone cares... to do what my guy is talking about you can do some glute exercises and stretch your hamstrings too if you're hips stall out or have problems like I just talked about. If I don't train my legs and get lazy my balance gets all out of wack and my swing gets super quick. when my glutes are fatigued they lock up instead do what they're supposed to. it hurts you turning back and then again rotating through because then you're swaying instead of turning some cheeks for power lol
