I've learned more in 14 weeks with Dr. Berg then I have in my entire adult life. I've dropped 60-lbs and am on the verge of reversing Type 2 Diabetes, cut my BP meds in half and have noticed color in my legs coming back to white and having more energy then ever with no craving of food after a 24 hour and a once a week 48 hour fast and this was all by luck by just happening to come across an older video that Dr. Berg had posted about "Intermittent Fasting for Beginners" that I decided to watch January 3, 2022 and looked easy to do which looking back was 100% right.

I learned this lesson working at a nursing home. For residents that were not eating much and losing weight, they would be offered a liquid supplement similar to Ensure. But for diabetics, they gave a product called TwoCal. Every time my residents got the TwoCal, their sugars would spike necessitating more insulin. If they lost more weight, the doctors would order more TwoCal (i.e., two times a day vs once), and their sugars would spike more often. I finally realized it was the maltodextrin. Obviously carbs increase weight, but for a diabetic, it's a catch22.

@@soukiwifun5744 Hi, I watched every video I possibly could on the principles of keto and how your body works. Then basically I cut out all bread pasta sugar and alcohol, basically super low carb. I eat beef, chicken, fish like salmon, avocados, spinach, a little cheese, plenty of eggs, and I’m probably forgetting a few things lol. I started out eating two meals a day the first at 1:30 or 2 PM and the second at 4:30 or 5 PM. Then I fasted without any snacking or eating until the following day. I drank black tea and black coffee, water, and in the water I put a little pink sea salt or Dr. Berg electrolyte powder. That was pretty much it. I have five friends that I’ve turned on to this diet who were extremely reluctant but everyone of them los significant weight and improved their overall health. Two of them were diabetic that were borderline going on insulin, and both of them to their doctors surprise have completely reverted to normal. My personal doctor and cardiologist were both extremely doubtful about this diet. Both of them told me that I was making a mistake and I asked them to explain why and they couldn’t give any reason. So in my fourth month my doctor demanded that I get a blood test and when it came back he shook his head and said the blood test was absolutely phenomenal and he wished his blood was as good as mine.

Wow doc, so true 👍🏼 When I go shopping, apart from vegetables I keep putting things back on the shelf in masses after reading the ingredients. I do find the foods I can buy is so limited. So very sad. Many times I wonder is it necessary? It’s just plain cruel. I’m kind of person who doesn’t care about textures of foods as long as it’s healthy and edible. Great video doc ❤️ thank you for looking after us 😊✨

High-fructose corn syrup. As the commercials said its just corn so it's "all natural". I recall hearing maltodextrin was used as a buffer to lessen the taste of sweetness. Which is why Splenda is maltodetrixin dextrose, and sucralose.

Hey Eric, great video! Thank you so much! I have a question: I have read that Maltodextrins easily dissolve in water. So, does that mean that if I eat some deli meat and its label says: - Turkey thigh - Salt (soluble in water) - E-326, ak.a. Potassium Lactate (soluble in water) - E-301, a.k.a. Sodium Ascorbate (soluble in water) - Maltodextrin (soluble in water) - E-252, a.k.a. Potassium nitrate (soluble in water) By pouring boiling water on it, will all (or almost all) the bad compunds strip off? I've read that this method is good for removing excess salt off deli meats. It leaves it mushy, but I don't care, I microwave it later and eat it crunchy. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing this. A lot of my relatives died due to diabetes, kidney failures and heart problems. But i know the reason should be something related to diabetes since they took medicines when first detected and eventually, they depended too much and their other organs were not able to function properly if stopped taking medication.
@zm78302 жыл бұрын
@Naas Nisa I'm not talking about early death. I'm talking about taking medication for years, more than 10 years. Most of them died at age more than 60 years old. Means they already took medicines longer before that. Usually they got diabetes first, then high blood pressure, kidney problems, then some of them eventually got heart problems. The real problem here, they already took care of their health when first detected their diseases around 40s. From my own observations, any Medication for diabetes, kidney or heart usually can only prolonged our lifespan around 20 years only.

Come to find out, it's main ingredient is maltodexrin. The product appears to be up to 97% maltodextrin and roughly 3% Stevie leaf extract? They should just label it " A bag of Maltodextrin." I had gain 40 lbs in that ten years and no doubt one readon why was due to the high GI.

Hello, doctor Berg. By leaving this comment I want to support your work. This is my story. And it is related to the topic. In my family we practice intermittent fast for year and half. Not that long in the past there was a day I made 22 hours galp between meals. I felt dizzy after my food and my body was weak and was shaking. I felt the way I didn't remember feeling before. I felt really bad and while I was going to bed I felt "the movement of the surrounding world" several times. I knew I would not die because Jesus paid the price for me. I prayed that day because I needed His help. It seemed like sugar spike... . It was so strange because I had already done this before. A couple of days later, I was twisting a package of salt in my hands and accidentally noticed dextrose is in the list of ingredients and ranks second right after salt! I am grateful to Jesus, if not Him it could have ended badly. I do not even rule out the possibility of death It's terrible. This salt didn't even taste like salt.. I put a lot of it in my food because it was like pasteurized. And I remembered a verse from the Bible: Matthew 5:13 " Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. " This verse is actually referring to Christians and not to salt, but I've never eaten such strange salt before. The manufacturer does not care about its consumers at all. For some, it can really end fatally. It was SunBec - iodized Table salt.

But on a side note i just got my bloodwork back, and my HbA1c is at 4.8 mmol/L (86.5 mg/dl) so if i get a slight higher insulin spike when taking my supplements with my food when i am doing IF, then what is the harm of a little maltodextrin?
