MacArthur Park has been a running joke in my mom's side of the family for years. I actually think the Donna Summer version slaps for the record.

"Later on in the year, they would give us Head!" Fun fact, that's actually why they named it that.

Funnily enough, I was actually exposed to your number one because of Timon & Pumbaa doing a cover of it for the ‘90s cartoon they starred in, difference being they say “I got *bugs* in my tummy” instead of love. Needless to say, it works way better. They also did a cover of Ben E. King’s Stand By Me for that same cartoon, and I was exposed to that because of the Topsy Turvy volume of those old Disney Sing-Along-Song tapes.

I was at a hotel on a school ski trip and my roommate was watching Spongebob and once it ended, that All That reboot started, and we sat on our beds questioning the existence of “bad guy” but with movie villains, a concept that belongs on KZbin more than network TV

Frank Devol and Sherwood Schwartz composed the Brady Bunch theme - the insert card said the Peppermint Trolley Gang sang and arranged the theme song. I recall seeing their name at the end credits in the first season of the show.

Only for that first season, but in 1969. Only to be replaced by the Brady Bunch kids themselves until the show ended in 1974

But wasn't that for the OC Smith version? His is significantly better just because it's a Soul song
@kwakerjak3 ай бұрын
@@aristotleasparaguspodcast1129 No, it was the original Bobby Russell version, which also won Best Country Song (though given that Song of the Year is specifically a songwriting award, you could argue Russell won for all three versions).
@aristotleasparaguspodcast11293 ай бұрын
@kwakerjak I don't think he recorded an original version. He Got the Grammy for his role as a songwriter. OC Smith's won Song of the Year while Roger Miller's won Country song of the year

Well, you didn't lie about the duds! No matter how many times I hear MacArthur Park I have to giggle about "I'll never have that recipe againnnnnnnnnnnn!" Who heard that and said "wow that really makes me feel something"? The song just always makes me picture a very melodramatic picnic. People! is a pretty hilarious name for a band. Probably not what they were actually going for though.
