I know Matty always says he talks too much, but I love hearing him talk about music. The whole part where he talks about Sincerity is Scary legit made me well up a little. The fact that he acknowledges that some musicians just had/have that special something in them that operates on a higher level, how gospel music--black music makes you feel that "god frequency" even if you're a stone cold heathen (like I am), his love of Trumpets...Chills! It sounds hippy dippy but I know what he means because I've felt it too. It's refreshing hearing artists talk about stuff like that.

i wna attempt a comment abt how i feel abt this interview but i genuinely find it hard to because this invested itself beyond general level of personal reflection and has turned into my own constant comment section rn. I've never felt more satisfied with an interview. Matty has this ability to be so well spoken in terms of perspective & it's scary how he breaches onto things, these ideas and notions that we're indirectly aware about that he makes present & it's so fucking gratifying so thank you.

Truly an amazing interview. Matty Healy is such a deep soul. Without wanting to use such a cliched description. For that would do someone such as him total injustice. He is incredibly insightful. And so in touch with himself & the world on the whole. And that's aside from what he does as a Musician. Though I am sure he would not disagree that the two draw parallels and are in fact interwoven to describe who he is. I 'get' him on so many levels. And as a writer of poetry myself and someone that formerly Deejayed. There is so much to be able to agree with and digest on an intellectual, musical and philosophical platform. It was actually my 18yr old daughter that got me listening to The 1975. And it makes me both proud and enormously, appreciative that she has, be it, heriditary or inane,(or both) an insane amount of musical and literary qualities. The band, for me have the lyrical and overall make up to be appealing in such a way that gives them longevity. Matt Healy is a breath of fresh air. And certainly comes across mature beyond his years. I look forward to the day he releases his memories. As you can be certain, they, like this interview, will be a fantastic read. I wish him and the band all the best in their future endeavours. I am cock-a-hoot, I took the time to listen and absorb this interview. There so much to tickle & stimulate the old gray matter. Absolutely ''Loved It!!!' 🙂 Missjamm

The thing about The 1975 is that nobody is producing music with the depth and quality that they are currently. They are a port in the storm for people avoiding cookie cutter pop songs while remaining accessible to fans of the pop genre. So they have a large audience of teens/young adults but a sub audience of the older generations who have been started of musical talent for years

When he started to talk about be my mistake, he seemed to get really uncomfortable
@gemmadigby24996 жыл бұрын
I think Be My Mistake means a lot to him progressively and emotionally, so he just feels a bit awkward talking about it and letting other people into that part of his life. even if he is so honest with us as his fans, he still keeps a lot to himself and he never usually writes "lovey duvey" songs. I just think that he wants to keep that part of his life, the romantic part, as secret from us as he can, even if he still writes songs about it.

So much insight, intelligence and understanding of music and its meaning - wow!!! Flove Matty ... could listen to him explain the music forever. Especially hearing him talk about ‘it’s not living if it’s not with you’ - wow!!! When he talks about music being tangible - omg ... that’s exactly how I feel when I listen to some songs. It’s not the music or the lyrics that drive me to fall in love with the song .... it’s the feeling I get in my gut when I listen. All of my friends think I’m crazy but that’s how I see music. Its got to make me ‘feel’. Matty just summed up in that one sentence just how I feel when I listen to The 1975! 💗 So glad to see him happy, clean and healthy!!!
