I live in a border town. Have all my life. I’m in my 22nd year of a public safety career and respond to calls on the border (port of entry, desert and a refugee shelter) often. Obama, Trump and now Biden have been at the helm during my career. Politics aside, I never saw under Obama or Trump what I’ve seen under Biden concerning the number of immigrants crossing illegally. I’ve seen thousands each week lined up along the fence (“wall”) that BP is processing one by one. I don’t care what the media or the democrats say, it’s been complete chaos. The fencing outside the ports of entry aren’t all designed for foot traffic; a lot is designed for vehicular. So yes, people are just walking across and surrendering to BP. It’s insane. Our hospital has countless illegals in the ER, L&D and admitted for whatever all the time. And the American taxpayer is on the hook for the bill. The invasion was purposely caused. Period.

First you stop the flow and then fix the leaks. As a Cuban living in Miami, I personally know over 20 people (relatives and friends) who have crossed the border. They flew into Nicaragua and got smuggled in the back of a semi-truck to the border. They cross the border, they wait for the border patrol to find them, and they are arrested and taken to an immigration jail where they begin the asylum process. They are given a phone and can apply for food stamps/ebt. They are not allowed to legally work so the government supports them until they can do so.

For 8 years here in my "big Canadian city", the newly landed immigrants get all the newly available apartments, housing & extra money in the thousands per month depending on siblings while people that have lived here all their lives and find themselves without a home for various reasons are sorted to the bottom of the list in regards to low income housing. The reason for no ID is to allow people from lower income communities to vote. I grew up with a large majority of older generation folks who had no ID. For some it's made very difficult to obtain. There's places where the closest DPS office is over an hour away. There's people who can't get an ID due to other issues. There's more than one reason though is my point
