@@jaromor8808 The nomenclatures became popular when Lexus, and Cadillac insisted on copying the Germans. You'll notice that most if not all German models use a numeric name and thats natural and expected for the Germans but its not very American. The GM and Ford really lost when they inserted themselves into the Germans race because thats not what American cars are about. Lincoln wised up and is coming back though.

Acuravigor47 Every where I’ve looked this up it says *horsepower ratings on 93 octane fuel. This is the same power rating as the Explorer ST and that’s on premium as well. Turbo motors make more power with higher octane typically. I will say that it’s very nice if you want to save some cash you can put in lower octane at the expense of some power and mileage.

Wow, you need to look at European cars, if you think that engine on this monstrosity is powerful, sheesh, you really are nut jobs in America, aint ya. I can think of one car straight away that blows this monstrosity out of the water. It is called a BMW X7 oh and this vehicle looks mysteriously similar, hmm, just made in America and has a low horsepower engine pulling several tons of metal. Old materials you Americans use to build your cars too. You truly are the polluters of this planet.
@lightbox8019
@lightbox8019 5 жыл бұрын
Graggle5 How can you be so wrong. You say it has low power but you also want it to be efficient? This thing is a plug in hybrid with 700 lbft torque lol, that’s fast. It’s also way smaller than an x7. It’s an x5 competitor. It’s also built on a car platform not an old body on frame .and made out of aluminum. I love European cars too in fact I own two. But I’m not ignorant to think this isn’t nice as well.

Obviously not your grandfather's Lincoln. Very impressive execution at least at first glance. But here's something I don't understand. Ford's shift to RWD architecture for both the Explorer and the Aviator promised a much improved tow rating. In the Explorer the result is a major disappointment. The highest tow rating is only 5600 lbs on the ST and Platinum trims with the 3.0L twin turbo V6 engine and a $700 tow package. That's only 600 lbs more than several competitors based on a FWD architecture and less than the Nissan Pathfinder (6000 lbs) and the Dodge Durango (8700 lbs.) On the other hand, the Aviator with the same engine and drive train and a $500 towing package option is rated at 6700 lbs. I tow nothing more challenging than a wheeled trash can with my SUV so I'm no expert about the details of towing but an 1100 lb advantage for the Aviator strikes me as a significant advantage for those with serious towing requirements. And I'm told that a typical ski boat and trailer can top 6000 lbs. If that's the case, it seems to be more than an academic issue. So my question is what is Ford not telling us? Is the Explorer underrated or the Aviator overrated? Is the difference purely a marketing ploy or are there differences that the Explorer and Aviator teams not talking about?
@ericd.4460
@ericd.4460 5 жыл бұрын
Stephen Hendricks I think that there is a specific reason for that, it's not marketing. Somebody doing a review on the Aviator talked about it, I wish I could remember what it was. But something is different on the Aviator that accounts for the change and the Explorer doesn't have it.

ever driven a Tesla? They are outselling the German makes IN Germany no less and Tesla is %100 American, Headquatered, designed, manufactured and assembled in NV and CA. Oh and Tesla also introduced the 'phone as key' a few years ago in the Model 3. Not bashing Lincoln, this does look nice. But nothing new.

@@ericmotion4488 Yeah, few are trickling on to the lots, but they are selling instantly. Lincoln predicts that this one will be their top selling model. There are features on this car that are not present in any of the other models.... yet.

Love that they aren’t chasing the Germans and returning America! That’s what’s sold me on buying one, and it’s an amazing automobile, definitely up there with Genesis.

Wow! For a car as premium and luxurious as this Aviator, it’s way too inexpensive in India to start at $52000 and top at $82,435 with all the options. Damn! If Lincoln ever brought this SUV at this price point, Germans certainly will have to leave the Indian market because all of their SUV starts at $80,000.

Wow! But the price... For that price Lincoln (Ford) should offer a special "347" plan to reduce cross shopping. 3yrs free maintenance, 4yrs bumper to bumper warranty and 7yrs power train warranty. This may provide a dual incentive. 1). For Lincoln to produce a top quality product (to go with that top of the line price). 2). Consumer will provide greater consideration and longer commitments. 🤔

I'm confused as to why this is 80k for Black Label. It seems like it is lacking so many luxury features, compared to its "2020 Competition". Obviously paying for the name on this one. In my opinion, the 2020 Palisade Limited completely surpasses this Aviatior Black Label.

Lincoln: “let’s make another luxury suv” Design team: “ok, of course luxury is going to be in it but what else do you want?” Lincoln: “an engine with over 500hp” Design Team: “wow there, ok I guess we’re doing this now”

Please Ford bring your Lincoln Brand also to Europe! The Vignale Line at Ford Brand is not enough when you want play in the Luxery Class. But Lincoln is the solution, since your sell aston martin, jaguar, volvo, and land rover.

Not my cup of tea, but nice. And yes, real names are a good thing. I know what an Aviator is but cannot name any Cadillacs except the Escalade. The Germans might be able to pull off an alphanumeric name, but American cars don't stick around long enough for a nonsense name to stick.

But they are always changing slowly but surely in the right direction. I think that Ford - Lincoln are upping their game with specific intent, not aiming for something that's just superficial, and I applaud them for it.
