Wow, you need to look at European cars, if you think that engine on this monstrosity is powerful, sheesh, you really are nut jobs in America, aint ya. I can think of one car straight away that blows this monstrosity out of the water. Old materials you Americans use to build your cars too. You truly are the polluters of this planet.

Obviously not your grandfather's Lincoln. Very impressive execution at least at first glance. But here's something I don't understand. Ford's shift to RWD architecture for both the Explorer and the Aviator promised a much improved tow rating. In the Explorer the result is a major disappointment. The highest tow rating is only 5600 lbs on the ST and Platinum trims with the 3.0L twin turbo V6 engine and a $700 tow package. That's only 600 lbs more than several competitors based on a FWD architecture and less than the Nissan Pathfinder (6000 lbs) and the Dodge Durango (8700 lbs.) On the other hand, the Aviator with the same engine and drive train and a $500 towing package option is rated at 6700 lbs. I tow nothing more challenging than a wheeled trash can with my SUV so I'm no expert about the details of towing but an 1100 lb advantage for the Aviator strikes me as a significant advantage for those with serious towing requirements. And I'm told that a typical ski boat and trailer can top 6000 lbs. If that's the case, it seems to be more than an academic issue. So my question is what is Ford not telling us? Is the Explorer underrated or the Aviator overrated? Is the difference purely a marketing ploy or are there differences that the Explorer and Aviator teams not talking about?
@ericd.44605 жыл бұрын
Stephen Hendricks I think that there is a specific reason for that, it's not marketing. Somebody doing a review on the Aviator talked about it, I wish I could remember what it was. But something is different on the Aviator that accounts for the change and the Explorer doesn't have it.

Wow! But the price... For that price Lincoln (Ford) should offer a special "347" plan to reduce cross shopping. 3yrs free maintenance, 4yrs bumper to bumper warranty and 7yrs power train warranty. This may provide a dual incentive. 1). For Lincoln to produce a top quality product (to go with that top of the line price). 2). Consumer will provide greater consideration and longer commitments. 🤔
