Paula did a great job stepping in filming. Would appreciate more of a deep dive into the Notio and the associated data

For those of us old enough the remember that the tech you had, was essentially a watch that incorporated a stopwatch element. To where our sports tech can take you these days is unbelievable. My first ever marathons, and triathlons didn't even have chip timing. The clock was mounted on the finish gantry as that was as about as tech as it got really. So apps downloads, and all of that we take for granted now, was just pie in the sky as we might say over here, back then. Great video and info as always. Err Paula on the camera? Not too shabby Mr. L you better watch out lol. See you both next week, love from the UK. Stay safe.

Great TT tests Eric, curious about the Notion product for sure. And Paula did an excellent job of capturing video! Good meeting/seeing you at Thump and on Phil’s with your buddies this weekend!

Paula's new PR in filming. ;) i love how you each of you claim which bike is the fastest in the household. i have to agree with Paula, SHIV rider here. Good luck on St. George.

Nice work! I would recommend the Chung method of calculating CDA with Golden Cheetah. It’s a bit sensitive to the route you use but you might want to look into it. You just need a power meter and a set of scales.

Looks like you're going about it the right way, being thorough leads to better results.

Paula great job filming, you did great. Eric the storage options on the Argon is pretty amazing especially the frame storage for maintenance. I am going to St. George as well. Are you guys doing a race preview or at least any coffee or other venue suggestions? Going to be there a few days afterwards and hope to check out some cool sites and some mountain biking for my husband while I recover.

Yep we’ll be doing a raceweek type video, but it won’t be out until the following weekend. The best coffee is a bit out of town in La Verkin.. River Rock

Great stuff on the video. Awesome info on how you can use the Notio, eventhough it didn’straight downloaded to the app, you could still use it. Yeah that new Laser helmet only works well when it’s touching your back, otherwise it’ll slow you down. That’s why Roglic has gone back to his other TT helmet on longer TT’s, as he tends to drop his head (sticking the tail in the air) when he gets tired. You really gotta train your neck muscles to keep looking forward 180km. My bet is that you would benefit from your elbows a little forward (3-5mm), and your hands up by about 3-5cm. I think would make you more comfortable & more aero at the same time. But that’s just my opinion. The great thing is that you can use the Notio for that yourself totinker with that. BTW, can you get live CDA on your bike computer? That would help with live head position, shoulder position, etc.

Good morning had to watch the form again, think even i need to go lower, thanks:) today I meditate, while I ride, I beat sanders, Eric you come in second, Paula third, sanders 4th, lol

The road surface looked pretty rough. I'm not sure how Notio works, if rolling resistance (crr) is something you manually input, but essentially overestimating crr based on lab tests for certain tires etc. can cause it to calculate a higher CdA. The same goes for if you're not accounting for drivetrain / chain friction loss which could be up to 5W depending on the condition of the parts, lube etc. A CdA of .290 seems high but I would take that number with a grain of salt given how many variables go into it. It's still a valuable tool to compare different setups (position, helmets etc.) which is what you want in the end. Also, takes a while to get good at collecting usable and consistent data from field tests.

What length cranks do you use? Have you tried shorter cranks? Your head is moving side to side, which might be caused by your tight hip angle.

That's the way DIY aero testing goes sometimes! BTW, I don't believe those CdA numbers (in an absolute sense) for a second! I bet the real numbers are lower. Maybe Crr is was too high? But, anyhow, for relative comparison this will do just fine.

Do you actually carry tools and tubes on the bike in 70.3 races? What about on shorter looped courses like the recent Challenge ones?
@ThatTriathlonLife3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t carry them in the short challenge events, but I was leading Daytona two years ago and had to drop out since my seat post came loose and there wasn’t any mechanical support.. better safe then sorry when a multi tool is 50 grams. And yeah I carry tube and co2 for any ironman event

real time cda feedback is fully the next big thing, as game changing as power meters were......but beware early adopters, I seriously doubt whether the tech is really there yet. 3-5 years from now we will all be riding with live cda data.

Now I am like extemly motivated, as I am now sponsored, building my elevation rv, right now, I step in, 15,000 feet, I step out, to race, sea level,,, the only thing I am just a tad sad about, is no one invited me for Santa Cruz ride, next time, and like I take you here, demestrion forest, lets put Santa Cruz like on the top of the map, now one other sad note, Santa Cruz 70.3 is all sold out, so the guy who just jumps in, and passes you with no bib, its going to be me, well if you are doing Santa Cruz, I predict when I start racing, age 50 may 8th:),,,that everyone will learn what a epic place it is to like,,,become the best tri man to walk earth!!!

Core work my friend, its like no upper body strength, however you look very aero, scary aero, so low, maybe best i have ever seen, do some leg lifts, like all day long, do so planks, all day long, the day you can plank as long as you can bike ride, then you can beat that sanders, like I plan on doing, core also helps like swimming and running too,lol

If you want to find me, I sent a friend request to your Facebook, think I need to take out alcatrz champ, before I take out sanders, however what a race by sanders, love him:)
