Great review. But I think it's important to clarify the numbers when talking about towing so that people don't assume when they buy a $100K vehicle built on a truck frame that it will automatically be able to tow heavy loads. There's some really crazy stuff going on with these 2023 4x4 Wagoneer vehicles with the new 3.0L motor. The high tow ratings approaching 10,000lb are ONLY available if the vehicle is equipped with the "Heavy Duty Trailer Tow Package" (called "Max Tow" in the Owner's Manual for some reason). If you forget to add that little $995 package, your tow ratings are reduced by over 40%!!! For example, 5,750lb in the Wagoneer L 4x4 and 5,400lb in the Grand Wagoneer L 4x4. That's a HUGE difference that is important for people to understand. I would love to hear from Jeep explaining why there is such a huge difference. But don't believe everything you read on KZbin. Go check out the Jeep Owner's manual for yourself!

Glad I got my Ram 1500 Hemi when I did. Just naturally aspirated V8 goodness that’s easy enough to work on and modify. I hope the hurricane works out but I have my doubts. Not crazy about premium fuel though.

@@dylanbuk7055 as far as modern engine’s go yeah. In the Ram there’s enough room to get at everything. I relocated the oil filter, upgraded the air intake tube, deleted the clutch fan and went to an electric setup for more room in the bay. Rear spark plugs a bit tricky but not impossible. Accessories and belt isn’t aren’t hard to replace. Hoses and wiring are neatly routed and not hard to get at. They’re straightforward to tear down but it’s a process like any other modern engine. Still a push rod with port injection, and you can tune them or cycle the gears to deactivate mds. If you have to do the cam and lifters the heads have to come off but again pretty straightforward process. Very simple setup compared to a modern twin turbo charged direct injection engine.

Ive looked at this setup. I have the 2022 Airstream FC30bunk. But I’m driving a 2020 Ram 3500 Big Horn Dually Aisin. I can tell you I payed half the amount for my truck that I did my trailer after taxes on both. That being said. Two years later I could get a base wagoneer for the price I paid for my truck. In two years the average car price went up $11000 and since 2018 it’s up $18000! We have got to let this market crash, lower these inflation rates, and get the car companies and other manufacturers back into check. Sad to say. Unfortunately most people are financing 7-8 years myself included in order to afford the vehicle they want. Fortunately I got 2 2020 Mopars at 0%/84 and 2%/72mo when I purchased. Now they are 6%/72 or worse. Interest rates are what keeps you in debt. Not so much term length. But when your average decent career family buys a new family suv and it’s minimum $67k for basic plus tax. Your at $75k otd! I bought a srt Jeep in 2018 loaded to the gills for $73k otd. That’s a nearly 500hp luxury suv toy that few can afford to just play with. Yet now it’s the standard cost for a mom to take her kids to practice in a big safe suv. Small foreign SUVs have became to only affordable way. STOP PAYING THESE PRICES PEOPLE!! Ford only made a LIMITED truck because PLATINUM trucks were flying off the lots!!! At $90k! May as well build one for $100k!!! And consumers bought it.

I test drove a regular length series 3 with the hemi, so it's shorter, has more bells and whistles, and had the less powerful but in my opinion cooler and more desirable engine option, and it was stickered at $117k plus a $7,000 buyers premium. So $124,000 all in And it still didn't have every option. A wonderful and substantial vehicle but that does seem just ludicrous doesn't it?

What! No weight distribution/anti sway hitch? Fortunately Airstreams are one of the most stable travel trailers to tow. The Grand Wagoner is crying for the 6.4 Hemi V8. I just don't like turbo charged engines. If you don't want it to be naturally aspirated, then supercharge it. I have a 2020 Airstream International Serenity 30 RB, maxes out at 8800 pounds. I tow it with my 2020 Ram 2500 Limited MegaCab with the 6.4 Hemi, 4.10 rear end and air suspension. Absolutely love my setup. Oh, yea, I use a Blue Ox weight distribution/anti-sway hitch with 1000 pound bars.

yes this is a 25' front bedroom mine is about 5600 lbs bout 6200 full tanks and bikes etc the hitch wt is 850 pounds that is part of the cars payload and the wife 4 kids 2 dogs so the max tow will be less lower trim levels tow more when you add 4 ent screens sunroofs etc add to the wt of the car lower the max gross vec weight

I have a Grand Cherokee L with the Pentastar. When we bought it the 6,200 lbs towing capacity was great for our needs, sadly didn't take payload (1,100 lbs) into consideration. Now we have a vehicle that can tow OR can fit the whole family, but won't do both. That is a very important aspect that is overlooked way too often.

Hasn’t traditionally in-line sixes been preferred for reliability in this kind of capacity? Trucks were inline sixes for decades for towing. In-line sixes from Toyota and Nissan were renowned for their ability to take high horsepower and boost; part of that is too the inherent benefits of an in-line six design. These turbo charged engines are designed for low rpm torque which puts a lot less stress on the engine compared to a smaller v8 or v6 that has to get high into the rpm’s to get any rig going.

A boosted i-6 is a lot more complicated than a V8, of which Dodge already has a bad history of cam and lifter issues with. This is now BMW territory of complexity and engineering, and I'd trust BMW 10 times over with their i6 turbos as they have exponentially more experience than Dodge.

that hurricane 3.0L engine is rated at 14 city / 20 highway MPG. My F150 can tow my wife's Subaru Outback and get better MPG. AND combined they cost less than the Grand Wagoner!! edit: yes this is satire. Of course my truck doesn't get 20 MPG on the highway towing.......
