Is it a simulation? If so, then you are on point with your comment. If, on the other hand, it is amplifying some real electric motor sound... ok. That's a commendable thing to experiment with to try and make EVs more "muscle". The problem then is not them making an EV "exhaust", it is just that they seem to be doing it at the expense of a v8 option.

@@tv321123 yeah, you're mostly right I say mostly cause there are a few exceptions, like RB26DETT or 288GTO's just to name the first ones that come to mind. Lots of race engines too, but that's beyond the point I suppose. Fact is, turbochargers change engine sound in all of its components, more often than not in a - let's say - good way; but this is true for every configuration, the one with most exceptions being inline fours, maybe threes. A turbocharged i6 is gonna sound good anyways, as will a turbocharged v8; tho neither is comparable to their naturally aspirated counterparts, usually.

if i remember correctly from the last time i worked on a brand new grand wagoneer, there is legitimately no dipstick. no way to check the oil level, without running the car until it’s warm, then letting it sit with the battery on for 10 minutes. and they are notorious in our shop for throwing low oil level lights for no reason, then being extremely picky about clearing the light. i’m personally genuinely disinterested in anything involving that kind of “innovation.” to be honest though, i’m disinterested with every dodge after working on them.

When I used to be a lot attendant in a Dodge service center it was horrifying to see the quality get smashed over a decade. The older 300s hold up way better than the newer ones with electrical gremlins (not saying that the old ones are that good to begin with), a wagoner with less than 1000 miles having an issue with the rear door, a 60,000 mile ish front wheel drive cherokee with the tranny slipping really bad, and my personal favorite: an 8 mile eco-diesel ram with a check engine light already on. And don't get me started with those garbage pacifica minivans, especially the hybrid ones. I have seen several with very low miles come in with a hybrid system failure or the stop start technology which is bad to begin with not doing it's job or stalling in an intersection. The craziest thing though was a man who had to get a 3rd engine put in his 392 charger because they kept burning out.

I'm a fan of Dodge cars and honestly I fully expect that this was such a terrible presentation because they already got wind that the push for EV's is toast, about a month ago and they are already rebooting the machinery and supply chains necessary to build a real muscle car, again. Ford already announced it isn't going through with its battery manufacturing plant construction and EV demand seems poised to drop off. Some intern was given the task of creating a presentation with a 1/4 of the funding that was previously planned in order to try and sell off the ones they had already built

I think we’re gonna have to get passed this mentality. With emissions and climate change we’re gonna need to shift to fuel efficient engines, and a turbo inline 6 is wayyy more than enough and we’ve known this since the 2JZ. Hell im surprised the new mustang GT doesnt have an ecoboost V6 like the Raptor and keep the V8 to a GT500/Cobra trim. At this point we’re arguing over sound preference, a twin turbo V6 would develope power easier than a NA V8 would just do to the fact that the engine would already be built for boost and have easy and cheaper access to more boost and respond better to different upgrades. Whats the issue? What even is a muscle car, is it just a V8 is there anybody that really thinks a mid engine vette is anything short of a supercar? Is a 458 with a ferrari V8 a muscle car? Is a GNX not a muscle car cause it was a sixer? Is a musclle cause just a boat sized car with a big ass engine that makes a lot of boost? Cause imo the mustang hasnt been a muscle car in a long ass time and the only real muscle car was the challenger. Muscle cars have been dead a long time, V8’s will eventually be dead also and while it sucks thats life, its not supposed to stay static and things have to change and for actual reasons even if we wanna cover are eyes and ears about how man made climate change isnt real. Japan and Europe showed 6 cylinders is more than good enough, idk why its such an issue for americans

Man until you own a v8 you really can’t speak for others. There’s something about the cold starts, the resonation through the body of the car, the raw torque, and most importantly, the reliability and simplicity. There’s a reason old BMW 5 series go for 3k on the used market and a v8 mustang of the same year are double that.

I’m pretty sure it’s because Toyota is based in Japan and sell a lot of cars there. Since Japan is an Island country it struggles with electricity more than European and American countries. Toyota wants to make cars that have engines because of this, thus why they aren’t going along with the EV industry
@antilogism
@antilogism 8 ай бұрын
@@darkshinobi3030 Interesting thought but here's what I found. JP only accounts for 16% of automobile unit sales but huge 37% of revenue. That disparity likely stems from their financial services, marine, housing, agraculture & medical business units being strong there. The US too has very limited electric in most of the country but it's not too bad in former industrial areas. That has a lot to do with infrastructure planning expecting a fall in electric usage over time, rather than the massive, rapid increase. Overall JP is at 7.4 MWh/capita and the US at only 4.5 so, at the moment Japan uses about 60% more per person already. I suspect that both infrastructures will need a massive refit.

A single Model X's battery contains enough lithium to produce 6818.18 (repeating of course) iPhone batteries. (Assuming 90kWh P90D Model X vs an iPhone battery with 13.2Wh of battery.) Phone vs EV battery is not even an argument. The real issue is the government enforced tax that penalizes every non EV/Hybrid vehicle an OEM sells, look up ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicles) mandate, it basically kills the incentive for manufacturers to build ICE cars. Don't blame the OEMs for making these decisions, it comes from politicians and their benefactors.

yea but if Stellantis would invest then the other options wouldn't be so pricey. the real issues is Stellantis isn't making any $$$$ on EV's so now they are pulling back. they got into the EV market to make $$$. that's it. if it was to further the advancement of ev's they would have built a Charging network. but they dint and tesla is murdering them in sales every year, mostly in due to the charging network. There are plenty of companies working on new battery tech that doesn't require these materials. with how many EV's they have pumped out in a short time frame, there is no issue with supply chain. They just are realizing they aren't going to make $ on it. same with the hybrid cars/trucks. There is a reason most cars still use standard combustion engines. its the most cost effective. These companies aren't driven by you, but $$$. BTW if you don't know Stellantis owns most of the car companies we know here which is part of the issue to begin with.
@theZDOME
@theZDOME 8 ай бұрын
@@nicholaswilkerson501 yea but the new battery tech I’ve at least looked into still requires metals and that means more mass mining. But mining isn’t the only issue. A charging network will require metals and a obscene improvement to the grid to not have rolling black/brown outs constantly. Also making that network will require precious metals and our grid is mostly powered of coal and other non renewable resources. So people who think they are driving totally green seem to ignore the fact that the electricity used is created through non green sources. Also another issue is depleted battery waste. Hybrids are a much smarter path over evs but money rules the market not going green.

If this showed up at the Dodge brothers front dr oor in 1910 the brothers we ould have shat themselves in delirium. As much as you or l might not like it the day of the V-8 is over. As is the day of the ICE to a large degree. EVs are the future. Granted they still have issues to over come. But when it comes to power on demand it really doesn't matter if the powerplant runs on gasoline, electrons or Doc Brown's Mr Fusion. What matters is putting the power to the pavement. PS l think the general objection to the idea of an inline six would have died if Ford had produced the Barra in the US. And if GM had used the Atlas more widely.

Inline 6 isn't necessarily bad, it just wasn't ever associated with a fast Charger. Dodge is repeating GM 80's story: Buick Grand National and Firebird (I believe in 87 there was the fastest production chicken with a twin turbo 6... so it was faster than the V8's of that time)

Straight Sixs were completely overshadowed by their V8 brothers but nearly every classic muscle car had a straight 6 variant as the easier to attain base model. Now we get a smooth running 3.0L twin turbo straight 6 that weighs half as much as the outgoing hellcat motor, makes gobs of power in a new chassis that also weighs less than the outgoing LX chassis. If anything, the Charger Six Pack is going to feel like a proper GT class car that it used to compete with in the past and it can still destroy tires. It's just a shame I haven't heard anything about a 6-speed manual and pure RWD option... probably won't happen.

And in a video promotion in answering "How much horsepower does it make?" the dude went through and described what a launch experience in the car would feel like. Along with telling us that the NHRA had certified the quarter mile time before immediately banning it from drag racing because of how powerful it was. Before finally telling us that it made 804 horsepower stock. THAT was a great promo video for the Demon. Seemed like a lifetime ago

@@3644Darrell Don't tell that to the industry - they'll double-down! It's in the industry's best interest for the car to last as little as possible so you go and buy another in a few years instead of keeping it for 20 years. And the beauty here is that with IT, we've been trained for decades that IT has limited lifecycle: upgrade your Windows every 5 years, get a new laptop every 2-3 years. Apple has trained people real well that a computer SHOULDN'T last more than 5 years. So "everyone" knows that if the tablet malfunctions in the car - that's fair game and just get a new car -- it'll have the most recent trendy gadgets as a bonus. Sucks for 2nd hand buyers, but... This is nefarious, but shows stupidity of the masses.
